@ryanmiller3005 fair enough. I pretty much kept that trinkets on once I grabbed it. I know some playstyles can make him a bit more risk/reward type. I found him to not take enemy stress well at all and was seemingly targeted for me.
@Meester-Josh15 Maybe I've just been blessed because an abom has always been one of my heavy hitters and only once in a blue moon did I ever have to worry about stress
I find these lists very interesting because all of the characters are very good but the ones people tend to find "the best" say more about their playstyle and values when it comes to Darkest Dungeon rather than objective fact. (Except for the plague doctor. I've never run into a single person who thinks she's low tier in campaign. Butcher's Circus is another story.) For example, with my preferred teams I have never had enough synergy with the Crusader to take him over other options unless I'm specifically fighting undead. I also find the hellion extremely useful for some areas and for bosses like the Hag but I would never put her in S tier. She's just not tanky enough for my tastes. On the flip side I think the grave robber is amazing. She has high evasion and excellent synergy with both mark builds and bleed builds and in areas that have lots of two tile enemies she can really make sure those DoTs stack. Running her with flashing daggers and a bleed jester in the same team in any non-skeleton area feels amazing and since they can both shuffle themselves they only need some healing and a bit of extra damage to focus down the 4th slot. Flagellant with the two healing abilities, regen, and the basic attack, and a plague doctor for back range DoT and bleed/blight removal is a great way to round it out. Vestal/hellion (iron swan mandatory) would also work well and be a little more straightforward.
Agreed. I stand by every character having uses, but when it comes down to it, the go to team will be different for everyone, even If some characters overlap with how customizable they are. Also I was incredibly underwhelmed when I first played the plague doctor. Then I realized I just didn't understand how to play the game lmao.
Flag may seem a little daunting and looks complicated but is actually very simple and strong. He has a front line bleed and a back line bleed, slot in two “oh shit I’m low” buttons and he’s golden. You can also funnel stress onto him because he has one amazing stress heal for himself on campfires.
Very true. I would be lying if he didn't save me on a few clutch runs with his massive heals. It is a cool mechanic for one character to quite literally "take a beating" for the team.
One thing abaut shield breaker you will get those nightmares only 3 times per game so after you have done them (with any shield breaker no need to be same as they all count to that total) you will not get them anymore so its safe to camp after that
The abom stress thing is easily rectified by his one padlock, but maybe ive just been blessed to always find it

@Meester-Josh15 lol yeah. It's not until the armored or higher health enemies show up that she truly gets to shine. But when they do... oh boy.
