this is absolutely amazing, utmost respect for your work. I can clearly see you have a passion and commitment for model airports, it really looks spectacular!
This is a time capsule for the ages. Incredible, impressive and brings me back to my work years at JFK and seeing all these terminal buildings and classical aircrafts. Thank you for the work and passion you have put into this project. Its appreciated.
Thank you. It was always something I wanted to do as it reminded me of the years I would walk from terminal to terminal spotting aircraft from all over the world.
That Airport diorama looks epic, especially the TWA and PAN AM Terminals amazing! the aprons the whole concourse, some modern some old school, appreciate the old school clippers, keep up the good work mate.
WOW! What an incredible model airport this is! As someone who is working on building my very first proper model airpot, this is very inspirational! I am at the beginning of my aviation career having worked the ramp for one year, just got my ADX certification, and got hired at CommuteAir to an aircraft dispatcher.
Just saw your TWA diorama for the new terminal... Spot on! Great work..also visit your Kennedy here from time to time when I get stuck. I've built Houston Hobby as it was originally in the 60's and Houston Intercontinental in the 70's. my fifty vintage airliners now have homes....I have added runways into Hobby and the lighting inside the terminals and runways makes fantastic night views...I just wanted the airports the way I remembered them in their classic times...they have since been torn down and revitalized and look nothing like what I have made...thanks, Brian for the inspiration.
Hi Brian, Your airport is by far one of the best I've seen. Very realistic! What I enjoyed the most is seeing the vintage airliners in their "natural habitat" to quote you.
Nice to see some classic model collections, classic aircraft don't get enough attention from model companies. Too many 737-800s and A320s these days haha
I plan to do this in the future with a 70’s, 90’s, & late 2000’s eras. Of course it’s all a dream and if it were to happen, it would be a long time away. Incredible airport, you put a lot of love into this! Have fun with it!
Thanks. I would encourage you to get started sooner rather than later. Once you see the structure coming together, it is exciting. You can start small and expand over time. Good luck.
Phenomenal work. I too as all watching am an airplane model enthusiast. Your JFK airport model is simply put off the chart. I remember growing up in Atlanta with Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport the huge Delta hub as well as a large hub for Eastern Airlines which was actually based out of Miami.
Thanks for your comments. JFK Airport was very unique and included a nice mix of aircraft types in the seventies. You might want to check out my other video of a TWA Flight Center install at the TWA Hotel.
Loved your video. I have 1/200 scale model airliners.I am planning on building an airport setup but my challenge is that I can't find the space for it. So inspired by your video.
They are hard to find...I found some from a guy that makes 3D printing...and some were colored and others white and had to paint. I can put site address if interested... my message: when you find some get them...to keep thinking you will see more....you won't. ha ha ......
I love EVERYTHING about this video! Such an amazing project ! How long have you been working on this? Any plans for “how to” videos to dive deeper into materials, tools and techniques to try building a scale model airport?
Thanks for your comments and questions. I had the vision for a few years and when covid hit, I had some extra time. Took about two years to construct. I have thought about scheduling a you tube live event to answer questions about the build and model collection. Stay tuned.
This actually brings back memories for me as I first arrived at the very terminal on a Iran Air 747-SP that shared the Pan Am terminal at JFK on January 18th 1978. It was starting to snow that late afternoon and by the time I left the airport there was almost a foot of snow on the ground. For the next 18 months, I would go there to pickup friends and family who were moving on to different parts of the country to get them to the TWA or other terminals as I lived in Long Island. I would always get there a couple of hours early, park on the rooftop deck and watch the planes. The best airport for plane spotting (of course of places I’ve lived) Thanks for this video
It's funny how those moments stick out for us. I remember my sister arriving from India on an Air India 747 and I was mesmerized by the red color and floodlights shining on the plane as it parked on the hardstand.
Thanks for your observation. I decided to feature a 10 year time period of 1971 through 1981. Based on my research and personal observations, every airliner featured did touch down at JFK at least once during that decade of time.
@@briankeene1468hello, I’m moving to Houston and luckily my room is massive so I can finally build a model airport. Very nice and brings back great memories. What brand of model are the Pan Am 747s and the Varig 747? Also would you consider making a 1980s Miami Airport including the Eastern terminals?
