A few notes about the information Extra covers, and some of the stuff they don't...
In addition to their ICBMs taking a long time to fuel and launch, the other thing to know about the Soviet ICBM "arsenal" in 1962 is that there were probably only about 10 of them actually operational, and that they were so unreliable on launch that probably only 2 or 3 of them would have successfully hit their targets.
Also, something to know that Extra does not really cover is that in 1962 the US had a MASSIVE superiority of the USSR in nuclear weapons. In the event of full exchange, the US was going to use something like 3500 nukes on targets around the world, and the USSR would have been wiped out. The Soviets could definitely do that to Europe, but as far as getting their nukes to the USA, they probably had only about 50 or less that could actually reach the USA at that time...not including the ones in Cuba.
Also, as is too often the case, Extra suggested that the USSR putting nukes in Cuba was the same as the US putting nukes in Turkey, but the two are very much not equivalent. When the us sent weapons to Turkey, it was in public and it was years after the original announcement of the deployment...they were announced under Ike's Presidency, but not deployed until after JFK came into office. When the Soviets sent nukes to Cuba it was in huge secrecy, and after many assurances by the USSR that they had no intention of sending nukes to Cuba in answer to US warning about sending those weapons there. Also, there was no official military alliance between the USSR and Cuba, only secret agreements...while the US was very publicly in the NATO military alliance with ALL the nations that had nukes sent to them.
