Karen I just want to say ..... thinking back on all the interviews I have watched, there are so many different types of quilters that you have showcased!! I would never have known these even exist! I love you and your you tube channel. Thank you!!
thank you....it's what I have hoped for 🤗
You can't help but be energised by Veruschka's enthusiasm and quilts. Every time I see her instagram feed, her use of colour and shape makes me want to run to my sewing room. I so enjoyed our interview. I hope you are just as inspired as I am.
I agree with all you stated. I was going to skip watching this because I said I will never paper piece a quilt. But Veruschka’s enthusiasm makes me want to try it. Thanks for this interview❤️
I like paper piecing just for the reason she does…it’s precision. She’s terrific!!
I was trying to find the words to express how I felt while watching this and you said it best, how inspiring! Thank you.
Ladies! Thank you for your kind words! I don’t think there is a greater thing to hear than our journey can inspire others to try new things and to push themselves further! The honor is mine!🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow she’s really terrific
What an energy she has. You are the greatest listener Karen allowing her to get her thoughts out uninterrupted
Verushka has the most beautiful smile. And the video just got better from there. She’s a bright light to follow for sure.
OMG, What an amazing talent!!! VURUSCHKA's quilts are more like masterpiece paintings. So unique and beautiful. Wow! Wow! Wow!
I know. The one with her boys is the best of them all
Incredible interview. She has such delightful and exhilarating enthusiasm. She spoke to my heart. So exciting
The portrait she did with her boys is amazing!
Great interview ....thanks for bringing Veruschka on your channel!
You really let her show us herself, thanks for being such a great moderator, you bring out the best in people, a rare skill.
Karen is pretty fantastic! It was so fun connecting with her❤️
Wow! Gorgeous quilts! She is so very talented.
I admired the authenticity during the interview... as an artist, a quilter, a mom, and a human during these times. This is an inspiring interview. May we all find what gives us joy.
Another great interview! Thank you so much!
So inspiring & enlightening. Veruschka is very talented, has great energy & is very good at describing her visual thoughts & ideas through words and body language.
I do hand work due to being bed-bound. I love epp. The great thing about fpp patterns is that they can just as easily be done via epp. To see so many beautiful & stunning designs available and accessible to someone in my situation, that makes my heart sing.
Veruschka is a great addition to the quilting & designing world, she has a new subscriber & follower here. Thanks for sharing. Hope everyone has a great day.
How much fun! This video was a wonderful way to start my day, thank you both!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Veruschka. Unbelievable talent. So much energy and creativity
🥰🥰🥰 THANK YOU!!!! That is so kind and generous!❤️❤️❤️
Wow! What an amazing woman and what an amazing interview! Her enthusiasm for life and creating and her family and the future are just such refreshing and energizing sparkles in her personality that she's like a catalyst that instigates those same drives and desires in those of us who get to watch this video. What a treat she was to watch -- and what a gift these interviews are to the creating audience. Thank you, Karen.
p.s. I can hardly wait for Veruschka to get her how-to classes online!
Hi Karen, what a great interview. I am so impressed with your videos, they are all very interesting and a wealth of information. Love them.
Every since I ran across Veruschka and her beautiful work earlier this year I have been "fan-girling" I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her work. She is amazing and her enthusiasm is so contagious.
Thank you Veruschka Zarate. Great interview.
Ah! Thank YOU for listening in!🥰
Oh my goodness... her enthusiasm is so very contagious!! Thank you so much Karen for the diversity you have shared in the quilting world and by that I mean all the different people that enjoy and create with textiles. I never knew most of them or their contribution to the craft. I have learned a lot . To me, that is priceless!
Her enthusiasm is encouraging!!!
I loved it! As a fellow stay at home mom, it is really fun to see all that she creates. Amazing work!
Thank you both
Karen; I absolutely love how you have opened up a world of quilters to us all. Each one is stunning and so different in their creative quilting techniques. Your interviews are fabulous. Hearing about everyones personal journey in quilting and how they started is inspirational. Thank you for bringing such talented people and their stories into our lives💖
I think that is my favourite guest speaker.
Ah! That’s an honor!! Thank you for your time in listening!🥰🥰❤️❤️
Another great interview! You just know exactly when an interviewee needs a nudge and when to let them go because they are on a roll. I wouldn't touch portrait quilts with a ten-foot pole but I appreciate Veruschka's incredible talent and enthusiasm.
Very interesting interview…….thanks for sharing
Another fun interview. Thank you for sharing!
I would love seeing a video from you, demonstrating Foundation Paper Piecing.
Thank you Karen for introducing me to Veruschka. I have taken a class and tried many times to paper piece with no success. Her work is mind blowing. Her quote "When you do something and you loose track of time, while you're doing it" I can totally relate to and just love it. She was a great interview.
Absolutely immersed in her story! What a great spirit and energy- thank you ladies!
Oh🥰❤️ you are too kind! Thank you for listening!❤️❤️
Her desire for detail but also the ability convey that as she speaks. That is a skill that not many have atained. Plus how she remembers those detail. Special artist, crafter and quilter. Thank you to her and Thank you for finding these great people and sharing them with us. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😊
I LOVED THIS INTERVIEW!!! What an amazing artist and I loved hearing her journey. Thank you so much for finding her Karen and Varushka for the interview.
Thank you so much for listening🥰❤️❤️
Her exuberance and joy are contagious. She was a delight to watch and listen to. The quilts?! Next level of brilliance! Can’t wait to see your lion take shape. Please post progress pics 😀
OH!!!! You are too kind! Thank you so much!!
Like the rest of the comments, I loved this interview. She expressed the joy of quilting in such a beautiful way. Thanks for your job of letting her “be”. She makes me want to try FPP all over again. Happy New Year.
Lovely interview. You allowed her to shine and she is - just wow!
🥰❤️❤️ thank you so much! I should have made more room for Karen to talk😆 I was just having so much fun sharing!🤣 thank you for tuning in❤️❤️
I agree with @Marie Johns. You have interviewed so many wonderful quilters. Veruschka Zarate is one of those fascinating quilters. She’s enthusiastic, and that enthusiasm is contagious. I’ve been a quilter since the mid-90s, yet I have never paper pieced. The process seems daunting. But she makes me want to take the plunge and learn the process. I have a book on paper piecing that purchased years ago but never used. I’m going to pull out that book and dive in. Thank you, Karen, for all that you do for the quilting world.
Fascinating interview. Thanks Karen.
I really appreciate how she so very clearly described her evolution. The turns and challenges matched by curiosity and desire. In my humble journey, I relate to evolving into a quilter. I’m an “experienced beginner” and have developed so much courage from stepping into each and every unknown part of the quilting process. I feel envy when I see quilters who are so natural but I was comforted by how she approached each phase with both an analytical and abstract approach. That’s the very reason I appreciate you and your channel Karen.
Her quilt won a ribbon at quiltcon
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts deservedly so. I look forward to watching her continued success. Bounty for all!
Fantastic interview- I love Veruschka! Her enthusiasm….yum! Karen- your interview skills!- the way you’ve delivered this- is just perfect! Great work! I love that you didn’t interrupt her- just let her go!!!
When she brought up the story behind her lion patten it reminded me of the principal at my children's school. My children go to a school where all the children have special needs. For years the school mascot was a seagull but in 2020 the principal decided that they would change it to a lion. The day after Christmas 2020 the principal passed away from Covid. She had been principal at the school for over 10 years. She knew every child's name and would greet them.
What a touching and powerful story!
Versuhka is Such a joful person. It's contagious. I appreciated all those tips on fabric prep, threads, and stitch length. Thanks!
Oh my, she was sooo interesting. Great interview. Her back story was a lot like all our stories. Kids make you innovative when you want to capture memories ❤️
Aw! Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my story!❤️❤️❤️
This was wonderful. Thank you.
All I can say about her work is ...wow....!!! I will be looking for her patterns.
That is just amazing. I am speechless.
🥰 I appreciate it!❤️
Loved Veruschka's energy and love of what she does and how she brings her ideas to life. Great interview and great artist! Thank you Karen, for the diversity of the people and topics you bring us.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. What an amazing lady. Love her energy and her talents.
This woman is a genius. So technical. So well at explaining her art. Yes, a great interview. And she is so articulate and expressive! Loved this!
Oh!!! You made my day! Thank you so much for your kind words!
What a breath of fresh air . 🥰
Thank you for a fantastic interview. Cheers from Melbourne.
Hello friend! Thanks for tuning in! Hugs from California!
Love the additional ideas and settings!! Thank you for all the ideas
Astounding!
WOW, WOW, WOW. Thank you so much for introducing me to her amazing talent. Isn't the expression true... Makers Gonna Make.... that creative thread in our lives can lead us into a wonderful journey.
I hope so!
What a hit. Thank you.
love this series
Thank you for this interview. I lost track of this website when our tv box crashed with all my subscriptions! Pride and Joy tutorials helped me so much to try my first FPP project. I am quilting it now! It is Big G. A giant giraffe from Legit kits. Thank you for your inspiration, and for helping me reconnect with this talented creator!
OMG! Fantastic interview! So much excitement in her interview! What a remarkable lady, she has brought a new level to quilting. Thank you, Karen for brIng Veruschka Zarate to our attention!

Thank you so much 🥰❤️
I love this lady!
Absolutely awesome!!
love this interview! just purchased a couple of patterns - she is so inspiring! you have turned your viewers on to so many tips, tricks and strategies.... as well as other inspirational creators. thanks so much.
I have Heart of a Lion on my list to do too
Her energy is amazing and infectious! What a joy to listen to her! Thank you!
Oh! Thank you so much for listening 🥰❤️❤️
Another fascinating interview.
Karen your interviews continue to be so diversified and interesting! Your ability to authentically connect with people and your well thoughtout questions make these videos fantastic!
These are the kind of distractions which excite me about trying something new and preventing me from finishing my WIPs and UFOs . 😂 So fun to watch and hear about this awesome woman’s process. I really enjoyed this interview. Thank you for sharing this true artist with all your subscribers . I am definitely going to follow her on social media!
Oh!! Thank you so much foe your kind words!🥰❤️
FPP is my favorite method.
I would love to know how Veruschka quilts the layers together. I’m absolutely blown away by her magnificent portraits!
Her enthusiasm makes me want to try FPP. You can tell She LOVES what she does and I can't wait to try
🥰❤️ thank you!!! YES! I DO love FPP🤣❤️
I have spent all day looking at items differently. Trying to see them as geometric shapes, looking at the negative space around/behind an item and how it could be broken down into triangles and then sewn back together. This speaker changed my perspective.
I loved this interview, one of your best, you let the artist passion and knowledge shine through!!
Thank you so much!!!🥰❤️
She is mesmerizing!
I was dazzled when I first saw her self portrait on my feed. So cool to see an interview with her!
It is truly glorious. Not only is it well pieced, the pattern itself captures the joy in their faces.
Thank you so much!!! It was quite the personal challenge and I feel so proud and “relieved”😜 I finished 🤣❤️
I want to thank you for this interview very refreshing. From Switzerland
Awesome interview!!
What a positive, joyful person! I definitely identify with the sewing with little people. Birdie sits on my lap and is allowed to lift the foot lever, turn the wheel, and snip, and put his hand on top of my hand as I feed fabric. I wish there were like, half a hamster ball I could put over the needle so he could try it without fear of fingers.
That sounds adorable! I have done similar things with my 8 year old, on projects that were for her, but I have yet to try with any of the younger kids. Maybe I need to trust them more, I don't know. I want to share things, and also have them to myself! 😅
So inspiring again Karen I so look forward to all your interviews thanks heaps to you both😀🌹
A great interview Karen. Such beautiful patterns achieved with solid fabrics is so amazing. FPP is a skill that hasn't clicked with me yet but I must explore it in better detail. Tips on starching and pressing well make the difference in other samples I have seen, to the wonderful execution in Veruschkas work.♥️🇦🇺
I really enjoy all the interviews you have done and I am always watching for new ones. Thank you for doing them.
Thank you for listening in🥰❤️
This was great! Thanks for the interview, Karen. Veruschka you are so talented! I've been watching your videos on your UA-cam channel and they are so informative. I believe you've hooked me into wanting to try a paper piecing project! Karen, I hope you make videos showing your lion progress.
I'm so delighted to have discovered this series. I'm a brand new quilter. I just about gave up quilting because of the hate comments I received on a FB quilting group. This interview and your channel have inspired me once again . A sincere thank you!!
Oh!!! I am so glad you haven’t given up!! Follow YOUR OWN joy! In this world there will always be those to seek to discourage us. Look forward to that which brings you joy and you will THRIVE! I’m glad you are still quilting!!❤️❤️
Oh, never ever let the loser haters on social media squash your spirit!
@@prideandjoyquilting6062 thank you soooo much for your kind words.
@@padfoot3 thank you so much, I'm going to dive in tomorrow morning after I get off of work.
I experienced some negative attitudes when I visited my local guild. I don’t need to constantly feel down because so many were better than me. I was barely spoken to that night and was not made to feel welcome. I never went back. I have sewn since I was 7 yrs old, now am 70 and only started quilting when I retired in 2017. I can learn everything I need on UA-cam and books. No one looking down on me. Sewing groups should be fun, welcoming and lots of helpful instructions. So, I sew for my children and close family and things I want to make. I am happy and blessed to have the equipment and knowledge I have. I like FPP, too!
Fluid joy!!!
Thank you Karen. You keep me inspired.
Fantastic interview.
Hi Karen would love it if the quilt examples are shown longer with the description so we could visualise the discription longer. loved this interview the journey of each quilter and their uniqueness in style are just so stimulating.
This are Verushka’s quilts. Take a look at her website and Instagram
WOW! Her passion is infectious. I really enjoyed this interview. 😊

Yay, I've been waiting for this since I saw Veruschka post it on her Instagram! :-)
Ah! Thank you so much for the honor of your time!🥰❤️❤️
That was fascinating!
Another wonderful interview. Those FPP quilts are amazing!!! (I love the one behind you, too, Karen!) Thank you ladies!
Thank you for another brilliant interview. I wish I had something astonishing to write that let you know how important your channel has been to me. Such an inspiration. Please know that you are doing something truly generous and generative.
🤗🤗🤗
Oh! Thank you for your kind comment! It’s wonderful when we find small things in this life that can bring us joy!

Glad you enjoyed it!
So much energy comes from that interview, love that!
Thanks Karen for bringing interesting people round, the play list "let's talk.." is growing longer, how exciting!
Can I just throw in my suggestion? Mutsu by Prespective flow is fascinating fabric artist.
❤
thank you
Thank you! It was a blast! Thank you for listening!🥰❤️
Great interview, Karen!! Veruschka has such an infectious energy and enthusiasm! I heard her say my own sentiment about sewing. When I was raising our six children I sewed a lot, not just to provide their clothing in a more economical way, but to make things like dolls and quilts. They were tangible things that I could actually see something I had accomplished. With house work, cooking, laundry, and raising kids, all that never stayed "done" long enough for me to actually see what I'd done. So, I can relate to what she said. I was very excited to hear her talk about her family and how it was so important for her to be home with thme. That was me! I wanted to be there while my kids were little. I am very impressed with Veruschka. I'm just about to start my first FPP project and her tips were very welcomed. Thanks Karen and Veruschka!
Thank you so much for your comment!!! And for listening to my story! It is so true, often times out of the mundane and ordinary, extraordinary things are born❤️❤️
Oh my goodness Karen, you have such wonderful guest interviews, and I think this one has just gone to the top of my lists! And I just had to have a quick look on Verushka’s website; wow, the Heart of the Lion is magnificent so I think I will keep this in mind for later in the year. What a talented lady! And while mothering 2 young children, she is a legend in the making. Thanks again Karen. 👏👏👏🥰
Oh! Thank you so much!!!🥰❤️❤️❤️
