Do you think the new Rogue ST Max driver is an improvement on the original Rogue?

Fantastic review. It's what convinced me to buy the Rogue ST Max. I played it for the first time today. I thought the ball flight at 10.5 degrees was a little high, so I adjusted it to 9.5 and it was perfect. Loads of runout led to some great results.

I recently traded in my original TM Stealth for the Rogue and it's fantastic! So consistent and way better sounding than the Ping G425. A lot of people won't like it because it's big but boy does it work. Bonus is you get it cheaper being last year's model!

Thanks for the great review Sophie! My goals were straight, more distance, and forgiveness. I was fitted for the ST Max today with the Tensei AV Blue 65 Stiff flex. My misses have always been to the right And this driver lets me hit it straight to a slight draw. Most of my drives this summer have been around 200 yards with my previous driver. The last one I hit with Rogue was 232 set at 10.5. I feel really comfortable with this driver and I’m excited to get used to it… I value accuracy over distance, and hit my friends original Rogue a few weeks ago. This new one feels much more powerful…

I need all the left help I can get. Definitely going to get fitted this year for a new driver and this has just jumped to the top of the queue. Thanks as always for your informative reviews, Sophie. I particularly love the fact that I can compare distances nearly like for like with you.
    Happy New Year!!

Distance v accuracy is always a tough one. For me it has to be accuracy as priority BUT we all like to be able to hit a long one don’t we?? Loved the review. I invested in the G425 last year ….. and the price comparison feels like I did the right thing but there’s no question Callaway have produced a great driver!

Thank you for another excellent, clear easy to follow review.
Please tell us what is your typical swing speed with a driver?
Many reviews are by tall, young super fit men who hit the ball tremendous distances similar to tour pros.
Old, average club golfers are unable to play like them.
Sophie's swing speed is greater than mine but gives a more helpful review for me.
Her accuracy & consistency is brilliant.
    Please reply. Many thanks.

Great review, Sophie, as always. It’s accuracy for me, on the whole, but to be fair I use an old Ping i20 (regular shaft) and hit a lot of fairways with it, especially considering I’m a high handicap lady who has only been playing at all seriously since last lockdown ended. With that in mind, I probably wouldn’t be looking for more accuracy than I have now if it meant losing distance. And especially at nearly half a grand!

I just completed a fitting yesterday and tried PIng, Titleist, Calloway & TaylorMade. I tried many heads and shafts for the hour long fitting. I got to the Rogue Max with the standard 55 shaft and neutral. I hit is very straight and it felt light and sounded good. I walked out with it. It felt like the most consistent driver that I hit in my fitting. We will see how it goes on the course today. Cheers

Great review as always. I read somewhere that modern drivers are harder to turn over, that's why Rory etc hit 3 wood when they want a draw. If that's true then maybe manufacturers are building in slight draw bias to counter that?

    • @GolfalotTV
      @GolfalotTV  2 роки тому +2

This could be true but it depends on which model you are referring to in a particular range - modern drivers are certainly harder to shape both ways. I think the slight draw bias is because Callaway believe it will help the majority of golfers even if they think they do not need draw bias.

Good to see. All my clubs are performing very well (irons, wedges, putter, hybrid) but the one I am less enamoured with or rather possibly thinking about changing if I can find one with the right specs (left hand) to give my the distance - lost 30 yds carry switching from the m2 to current one though hit 90% of fairways with current one - Pxg proto x+ set at 11degrees with a project x riptide cb shaft and tight dispersion. As I love my hybrid (epic speed super hybrid 2021 with the Aerotech steel fiber shaft) was thinking the epic speed might be an option. Never slice the ball so don’t like draw drivers as tends to result in a pull on occasion. Did not like the sim 2 nor pings - hate the turbulators but prefer Matt look. Maybe worth waiting to see what Titleist comes out with in the autumn. Not sure la would be for me given swing speed. Pxgs are a little also like the pings with less draw bias and no turbulators - designer was with ping previously I believe. Regaining that 30-40 yds carry is key to round out my game and scores. Rest in excellent shape especially short game.

I liked hearing the acoustics between the Ping and Callaway. It’s very subjective. The Ping sounds like someone striking a Jamaican steel drum. A sound that in music I like. For the golf course, I liked the more subdued note struck by the Callaway.

I agree with you that the new ST looks like an updated, improved (nicer sounding, deturbulatored) PING G400MAX (probably my favourite driver EVER).
Stability/consistency and protection from my occasional high right shot (when I'm getting tired and leave the face open) is definitely at the top of my list with drivers. I'm not planning to change my PXG GEN2 anytime soon but if I did I would defo look at the ST as an option.

Love the reviews but when saying it was only 0.7 left or whatever it is the key bit of info missing is the standard deviation. If 3 shots go 40 yards right and 3 shots go 40 yards left then the average will be straight but you haven't hit a straight ball! Have no doubt the balls were super straight but the info was incomplete

Had the Cobra Speedzone Xtreme to try and find a few more fairways. It worked but lost a few yards. Recently bought the G425 LST, accuracy similar but distance has improved by about 10 yards, I just hate the sound of it! The Rogue ST could be fit the bill on all accounts!👍🏻

Great review Sophie! Are the callaway rogue actually a straighter wood on miss hit compared to the ping? Currently I’m using a callaway mavrik max and i found really hard to get a straight fly, even on center hits and finding the center of the fairway the ball will travel with some effect. On the other hand I feel the ping fly straight no matter what you do. I do like the callaway face, it’s clear it get good ball speed and carry distance compared to ping , but I’ll rather to find more fairways

You said in this video that you have a stiff flex for your driver which has me confused. Will be making this purchase of the Rogue but going to be buying in the regular flex. What have I missed? And no, this is not a comment to slight you, just an amateur golfer who doesn't have a clue. I don't want to be fitted for a club out of embarrassment.
