- From the 1990 release "What Is This" CD, Val Mace sings "Restless Heart" - written by Art Mapa, and lyrics by Fernando Quinde. Backup singers - Scott Peterson, Rob Burkey and Chris Willis. This video was filmed in March of 1989 by David Simpson and his crew.

The lyrics are a really powerful and honest picture of real life. Our hearts are restless, engaged in a battle, a warfare, a great controversy. We sometimes feel we have 'won the battle', only to realise that the fight goes on each day, and we're only fooling ourselves if we believe we've "arrived"; the lyrics are very much in the spirit of many of the Psalms which speak so openly about our internal emotional turmoil, and restlessness, followed by am admission that we are too weak on our own, and can only make it through God. We need to rely on His power, and not our own.
As a musician, and as someone who has followed the journey of the group over decades, I do recall the first time I heard this song, and shared it with my brother who I was visiting at the time in Illinois; he gave me a look as if to say "this is Heritage?" , LOL! He was also in school - Oakwood University - with Chris Willis who is singing here. I appreciate the diversity in the group's repertoire, because their songs - whether their signature easy listening sound, or their many departures from the easy listening and doing something fresh and new - they all are designed to reach different people, and to remain relevant to different situations. It's also great this is one of their own creations - Fernando & Art, and production is sounding so clean, detailed, crisp, and just draws you in.
Powerful message with great vocal delivery and excellence in music production = winning combination.
I pray that as we listen, we find the One upon whom we can rely in all our situations.

Can anyone else recognize to which this song reminds it?
Its typical 80/90s sound, but can't remember which mainstream song was this :) A bit too much of bass and rythm for me since I know every single ever from Heritage Singers
