Shoebox gifts for a blind or low vision child - Operation Christmas Child [CC]

A friend-of-a-friend suggested making a shoebox for a child who was blind or low vision. I haven't filled a box in years, but assembling a present that could help a student learn to read and write in braille, could change their life for the better.
It was a joy picking out items for the child who'll get this box. I focused on
tactile objects that had high contrast. I included items for learning braille, school supplies, personal hygiene items, and some games and art supplies.
Operation Christmas Child collects shoe boxes of quality presents every November and then redistributes them to children who wouldn't otherwise receive a Christmas present. In case you want to participate, this year the collection dates are November 14-21, 2022.

This box is a for sure blessing I am legally blind myself I’m a visual impairment and I love this box. May I give you some suggestions. Number one include some card stock or thicker paper so the braille dots on the slate don’t not appear if that makes sense. Number two wrap the different coloured pens at the bottom with a texture like maybe put some washing tape around like the black pens. That way a child without any vision could differentiate. lastly and most importantly I suggest you write that it’s for a legally blind child on the box. Like all over the box that way they know who it’s targeted for and the right child can receive the right box. I also love how you didn’t really put an age or gender meant for the boxer any legally blind child could receive it and be happy with it. Hello Lilly! Thank you for your comment. It was full of great pointers! I will be sure to incorporate that next year. I did label the outside of the box, specifying that it was for a child who was blind or low vision, but I didn’t show that on the video. I checked out your channel. I really liked your video about how to make scrap paper. It looks really fun to make.
