    Hi Thomas! You saved me a bucket of pain (and money ;-) The stop-pin inside my mirror was somehow broken, so the mirror would always turn outwards to crazy angles every time I would start my engine. I had to open my window and hold the mirror with my hand to get it to stop in the correct position... every time. Needless to say, this was stupid and irritating!!! Using your disassembly instructions from this video, I opened the rear of the mirror case and disconnected the SOD (the small box at the bottom of the enclosure that senses resistance and stops the mirror wing motor in the correct position) via its two-wire connector....and PRESTO!!! The mirror stays in the position I left it AND the heater still works AND the mirror up/down/left/right controls still work AND, if I ever need to fold my mirror in and out, I can still do that by hand. Super happy...thanks for showing me how easy it is to get inside the mirror enclosure...the whole job took 5 minutes! Just a tip to anyone doing this: make sure that you pre-set your mirror "wing position" to a useful angle from the driver's perspective before disconnecting the SOD...then you will be in a centered "default" position for fine-tuning with the up/down/left/right control buttons.

      I had this pin-Problem too. I was able to repair the mechanism, but that was a bit more complicated than this ^^"

      Hi! I'm driving the 2008 FK3 (european Model 2.2l Diesel) it's a good daily driver :-) And about your mirror: I can't really say anything about it, as I haven't seen it.
      I once had the problem, that one of the "end stoppers" in the electical folding mechanism wasn't working anymore, so that it was always going much too far forward. I had to dismantle it completly, but I was able to make it work again.

    I just changed my mirror indicators, but didn't take the actual glass out cos its too risky.
    Just use a prizing tool around the top plastic cover while slightly pulling it.
    Doesn't need a lot of force but a good tug will do it.
    Then undo the wire connector and 3 hex screws.
    I did both mine in under 10 minutes as a complete novice.

    • @Thomas_Weber_1701
      @Thomas_Weber_1701  3 роки тому

      I prefer to take the glass out, as it's really easy to do on that civic. :-)

      I inderstand your choice, but if the lense cracks or breaks the repair can be expensive, and would make safe driving more difficult.

    • @Thomas_Weber_1701
      @Thomas_Weber_1701  2 роки тому +1

      They are sometimes tricky to open. Especially in the colder seasons. If you are trying this outside, it might be good to go into a warmer place, if you have the possibility to do so 🙂 Tje plastic gets a bit more elastic at room temperature.

      Beim Jazz hab ich es noch nie probiert, aber ich gehe schon davon aus. Dürft eine Standard-Befestigung sein, da unsere anderen (nicht Honda) Autos eine ganz ähnliche haben.

      You mean the ones for the mirror-heating?
      You just pull them off. The best way is to hold the mirror with both hands, like I do at around 0:32, and push the plug off with your thumbs.
      It can be a little hard, but it should work with a bit of gentle force.

    • @Thomas_Weber_1701
      @Thomas_Weber_1701  6 років тому +4

      Of course you can also pull it off without undoing the clips behind the mirror, but I think this way is better as it's easier on the material, and the risk that something breaks is much lower.
