  • Carl Sommer, president of Reliable EDM, shows unique parts can be machined by adding a rotating chuck to a wire EDM. Since wire EDM electrode never touches a part, it can machine extremely small and delicate parts. Sommer shows a steel tube and a round bar of aluminum that was in a rotating chuck and wire EDMed. The video demonstrates why unique parts can be EDMed because the table movement in the X and Y, the upper head in U and V, and the rotating chuck can all be independently programmed.

Do you mind putting a couple links in the video description? I went ahead and googled it, but others might benefit from the easy access.

Dose the natural curve of the wire coming off the spool have an effect on the persission of the cut?

The wire goes through a set of rollers that straighten the wire before it comes out.
