I've watched a bunch of these previews now and i think yours is the best one. You dont say everything you did and found, you just talked with excitement for 13 mins. Your enthusiasm is infectious. thanks for the video, 2 more weeks!
Damn, I want to watch this so badly, but even only two minutes, I feel like I've already seen too much. I'm gonna have to come back later after the DLC drops.
Is it recommended to play the DLC after completing the whole story? I'm pretty sure I lost my first save :( Omg so hyped for the size of the expansion! Don't worry about you not being able to cover everything haha great video
Based on past DLCs, you'll want a character with a completed build (which clearly includes a lot of Vigor), but you probably DON'T want to push into NG+ cycles because that's going to amplify the HP and damage of the enemies. You don't necessarily need to finish the game, but it's probably a good idea to progress to that "full build" point, whatever that means to you. Personally I've already started a new character to start rebuilding my muscle memory and timing, since my main from release with 100% completion went into at least one NG+. I'm shooting for a couple maxed weapons and casting catalysts and all the useful spells and talismans.
@@westwind429 Stats will be less relevant due to the DLC's progression system(the preview characters were all near the vigor softcap, even), but weapons will probably still have high requirements to use them
He's from the group of Miquella's followers. You can see him among the rest at the end of the story trailer. So most likely a friendly NPC. Although I was hoping he would be a boss fight like champ Gundyr when I first saw the gameplay trailer
I'm still confused by Elden Ring - is it like Skyrim? Or more like something like Hollow Knight where the combat and the high, punishing difficulty is the entire point? I love medieval fantasy, but I get the feeling I could buy the thing and regret it ten minutes in because I've misunderstood what it actually is.
I guess the open world is like breath of the wild. Except there is almost no friendly settlements or npcs except for roundtable hold. The main attractions are the legacy dungeons that have treasures and awesome bosses at the ends. It can be a very difficult game but it can also be a very easy game depending on how much you want to prepare. I will say that my least favorite part of the game is the very confusing quest system. I do not think it is feasible to play all of the game blind aside from the core bosses. So as long as you are okay with using the wiki, it is a wonderful game to sink hundreds of hours into.
This game is nothing at all like Skyrim, except that exploration plays a key role. The quests will only give you vague direction if any, but they aren't necessarily the point. You're not going to be able to do everything on one playthrough, and even if you could I don't think you should. The main point of the game, like pretty much all of Fromsoftware's games, is the combat system and building your character to your own unique play style. It's a difficult game, but the game gives you tools at every turn to overcome the challenges. Not only that, but because Elden Ring is an open world it means that if you're having trouble with one area it's ok to go a different direction and try something else. These games aren't for everyone, but I believe everyone should give them a solid try at least once.
More like Hollow Knight, but with aesthetics of Skyrim. Where it differs from both however is the very complex combat system and wide variety of weapons and spells with complex mechanics for each
I think you might have that backwards. The modding community has gotten so good that a professional, corporate DLC is being praised by comparing it to *them.*
The fact that we got 8 new weapon TYPES is mind boggling.. 1 or 2 would've already been awesome but 8!! Why no footage of great katanas though :') come on fromsoft
The one thing I'm worried about with this DLC is From Soft potentially just going too far with the difficulty. Some endgame areas in the base game were already ridiculously annoying to get through, and if they take it even farther with the dlc it'll just ruin the tough but fair challenge in favor of the "haha got you" moments.
That experience for me was only the first time encounter though. In the end, I always ended up seeing the patterns and finding the weaknesses in different ways.
@@lucasvasconcellos5323 Sekiro is my favorite From Soft game, and I've enjoyed the struggle in every single one of their games except Elden Ring. I’m sorry to say but the end game bosses in ER are too hard, I barely escaped without summons and I don’t plan on using them in the dlc. Either the bosses are unreasonably hard and frustrating or you use summons and they’re all trivial speed bumps. Balancing is the worst I’ve ever seen in a video game and no one talks about that. FSW fucked up big time. And that’s fine, bc most gamers are cool with summoning and optimizing the challenge out. I believe in playing solo and unfortunately FSW designed their bosses to be played with ash summons/coop, so playing solo goes against the design philosophy of the bosses. FSW needs to realize not everyone wants to make it easy, which is why they’re this big of a company in the first place. If FSW started making bosses in DeS with the same design philosophy as Er, no one would care bc they’d just summon and have a shitty time. The reason FSW is so successful is because people enjoyed overcoming a challenge that was presented to them fairly, balanced and reasonable. If you got good you succeeded. In ER, you’re encouraged to summon and that sucks.
People love to act like Elden Ring fell off during the endgame when the Mountaintops are the only bad part about it. The Haligtree and Farum Azula are some of the most well designed areas in the game, and the bosses are some of the best in the game (barring Godskin Duo and Fire Giant.)
You don’t have to tip toe around it bro, just say it. The dlc is unreasonably difficult. I wouldn’t judge you. It’s like that for a reason. FSW wants you to use their shitty ash summon mechanic. So if you’re stubborn like me and want to play solo, strap in because the game wasn’t made for you this time. Sad
Yeah you have no clue what you’re talking about. Just because the game isn’t the same R1 spamming simulator that DS3 was doesn’t mean the bosses are too hard or that the game is at fault. If you take advantage of jump attacks and posture breaks every boss can be beaten in a fun and fair way with no summons, same as the old games. Quit blaming the game when you clearly don’t know how to play it.
