The original backrooms actually didn't seem to have creatures, and for my taste, It was a lot scarier like that, because It made you feel like It wasn't right, that there must be someone or something spying you, that nothing could never ever be that empty. Spoilers: places never are that empty
it's a lot scarier when your completely isolated with nothing else there. at least the creatures are some sort of company. when your completely alone it's just eerie
It's scarier bracing for impact but it never coming than some Jumpscare. Thats what moat horror media makers do wrong. Jumpscares aren't scary. Unsettlement is.

Many years ago I heard stories of people that claimed to have had elevators stop between floors and open on strange endless halls lined with doors. One account said there were people that were part of some secret group and knew wher the building was in NY. These stories have been a part of urban legend for a long time way before internet forums. Nice job on this.
Imagine taking the most ordinary picture of an office building under renovation and it turns into a massive creepypasta on the internet about a pseudo-endless void a person who is unlucky enough finds themselves in
This reminds me of a dream I've had for many years. There's several variations. One is that I'm in my old house and there's like a magic door in my parents' bedroom that leads down through a hidden staircase in the walls to a secret part of the house underground that's huge and expansive, but totally empty. I would walk through it as a kid and just feel this eerie feeling like a presence but also like a longing, a shadow. The other variations are that I'm in another location, an old mansion or even a new apartment and I find a doorway. It's just like one room after another, and they're all furnished but there's no one in them and they're secret. There's this eerie feeling and a presence and it gets more intense the deeper I go. It scares me. It feels like something dark. But it also calls me and the closer I get to it, the more I feel like I'm home.

Here’s a summary of this video and a bit more info on the backrooms Basically there’s this place called the backrooms (which aren’t actually real) but it’s nothing like reality and has its own laws of physics such as “no clipping” (glitching through things) and so much more weird stuff, mostly because it is out of reality. To get to the backrooms you simply must “no clip” out of reality. The backrooms is mostly known as a long, yellow, non-linear area with buzzing lights that make you lose your sanity but it’s not that simple. The backrooms has an infinite/unknown amount of levels and no guaranteed exits. Each level is unique and has its own laws towards physics. There are also entities (monsters) in some specific levels depending on its class. Class 0 meaning it is secure safe and has a devoid of entities all the way up the class 5 which is unsafe unsecure and has a large amount of entities I hope this comment helped some people understand a bit more about the backrooms and what it’s about.
Not too long ago I was loosely hired by some men who were in charge of dismantling and tearing down an entire office building (paid under the table). I can’t explain how eerie it was to be alone in rooms that seemed to go on forever as I would walk looking for my boss hoping I wouldn’t get lost
Literally to this day I can’t explain some of the ones I’ve had. There’s one in particular that I’m absolutely convinced was not a dream. Being roughly 5 years old in a grocery store and wandering off and finding myself stuck temporarily in a checkered floor room angled down. Next thing I see is a massive pit of white mice at the bottom. Next thing I know my mom grabs me by the hand and walks me out of the store. It’s been over 30 years and that room is burned into my memory I can’t explain it
There's stories in cherokee lore of people getting trapped in infinite woods much in the same way. This idea of no clipping is familiar. I've dreamt of the backrooms too, but the idea wasn't foreign to me. The rooms seen scarier than accidentally entering the spirit world.
@@citizenpunx ive also seen some not so so horrible backrooms. Like a beautiful venetian city with canals of clear water. In this one, there is an endless covered market full of shade/ghosts/NPCs. The cemetery at the center of the city is endless and I have been lost there before ☝️☝️🙈💀🕯 and the grassland with all the flowers 💐 ☝️😌😌 maybe there are creatures there, but its not so bad in there.
@@citizenpunx I've heard stories of people going into the spirit world/backrooms before as children. Its almost like the space itself is alive. Sometimes escape is as simple as a mother absently reaching for the child's hand and pulling them out
The back rooms used to be an actual good creepypasta. The thought of being all alone, having no idea how you got there or having no way to get out, and the insanity you would experience going through all those mono yellow, empty rooms. Now people are making up that there are levels. People say there are 3, 100, even 999! Also, the creatures are a big factor. Before there was nothing. Going off my original point, the thought of being all alone. *alone.* monsters just seem unnecessary and hurt the scare factor more than they help. With the original description being vague, it makes you wonder what endless possibilities could happen. And with it all explained, it doesn’t feel scary anymore.
There's way more levels, up to the 64 bit integer limit, with decimal levels (aka Sub Levels) that go up to the 64 bit integer limit, joke levels, and Levels like Level TV, and Crimson Forest. (both of which are extremely safe) The main canon levels are levels 1-8, and others being Mythic levels. So yeh, more than 999.
Yeah it really suffers from a community getting a hold of it. Like SCP works because anything can be anomalous. But the initial Backrooms works because it's a modern version of the infinite white void.
@@Hattori75 but there are plenty of good SCP's, why do people on the internet think a community suddenly make things "cringe" or worse off. Tbh it's really annoying
@@breonnewbold8038 Sorry, didn't think my comment read as decrying SCP because it has a community, if anything that's its strongest point and I love SCP. Just saying that in the case of the backrooms it was probably something that would have been best left as is. That being said I don't doubt there are probably some good ideas for floors, but once people started writing about ways to escape it kind of kills the mood of it.
yes, thank you. The whole point of the original backrooms was that the concept was vague, and there wasn't anything complicated or interesting about it. It was just endless hallways, no explanation or way to get out or in, no new levels, just monotony, forever. The idea that something may be there and the general idea of the unknown was way more terrifying than any creatures or lore anybody came up with, in fact whenever I get too creeped out by the backrooms I just look up the overly complicated lore people have come up with and it loses all its creepiness for a bit.

For myself, Backrooms videos feels familiar and unsettling because I've been in a few office moves after hours. I noticed immediately how unnatural and unsettling the office environment feels when there are no desks and it's night. Also, more and more retail is failing which leaves these foreboding spaces abandoned like dyeing malls open to the public but not a soul in sight. Its like when I walked into Fry's Electronics only to see shelves stocked with paper or Sears before it's closure. Its all these experiences that make the backroom seem more like our collective subconscious is telling us that the world we knew as a kid is going away. But, I know there is real lore surrounding the Backroom video but I remember my first impression.

Basically there’s this place called the backrooms (which aren’t actually real) but it’s nothing like reality and has its own laws of physics such as “no clipping” (glitching through things) and so much more weird stuff, mostly because it is out of reality. Class 0 meaning it is secure safe and has a devoid of entities all the way up the class 5 which is unsafe unsecure and has a large amount of entities
I hope this comment helped some people understand a bit more about the backrooms and what it’s about.

The back rooms used to be an actual good creepypasta.
(both of which are extremely safe)
The main canon levels are levels 1-8, and others being Mythic levels.
