How many of you out there are a fan of gray paint colors if you love gray paint colors let me know by typing, Yes, but if your not a fan of gray paint colors tell me why in the comment section down below. I would love to hear your response.
Yes... I love a nice warm gray! It took me awhile to convert over, but now I don't want to go back to blah brown or taupe. Also, in a large home with high ceilings, white is just doesn't give a home that cozy feeling imho. I really like Balboa Mist, Classic Gray and Worldly Gray, but also considering BM Light Pewter.
I'm a fan of warm grays not cool so much. I am running with Silver Satin, Shale, Balboa Mist and perhaps Classic Gray in my home. It all has a nice violet undertone which goes great with my counter tops in the kitchen and doesn't fight with anything else in my house.
You have an amazing eye for colour and undertones. My open living room is balboa mist done by the previous owners. I hate it. It is so cold looking to me and lifeless. I honestly don’t know what I need but I know it’s not balboa mist.
My daughter is in the process of painting all the walls (in her just bought house) Balboa Mist. The only exception is my 4 yr old granddaughters room painted in a pale pink called First Light. We have very different styles in our furniture and feel in our homes. Mine is very traditional with burgandy, reds, and blues with touches of gold and a little green. My furniture is very traditional and we have lots of oriental rugs. I was considering using Balboa Mist in my kitchen, laundry room, 2 bathrooms(one being the master bath), and 2 bedrooms(neither of which is the master bedroom). I'm keeping my deep burgundy wall color in the dining room because I love it and it also looks especially gorgeous at Christmas with my Christmas china and decorations. The master bedroom is a softer periwinkle blue color that I don't think I want to change either. There is a room we call a sitting room (that used to be a dining room but we got tired of walking around the dining room table to get to other rooms because the front half of our house is over 100 yrs old and has no hallways) that has a wallpaper that's white(really white) with a small blue pattern on it that I'm keeping, too. I'm now questioning if I want to use Balboa Mist since it has a purple undertone. Your video is very helpful. I will watch more of them until I can find an inviting, airy neutral color that will complement our "royal colors"(except for the master bedroom). Our house and is too big for us now and we want to downsize so I'm trying to get it as neutral as possible without completely giving up some of the colors/wallpaper I really love. It's nice to be able to get suggestions from a professional.
Yes, a huge fan of greige paint, it looks soft, modern and calming. I'm just looking at painting my condo I recently moved into, I painted my last place almost 5 years ago Agreeable Gray and loved it in every light and angle. I'm considering going a little lighter this time ie maybe lol. Thanks for your vids!!!
Hi, Jacob. I think if you did a feature specifically on (light) greige colors with a violet/purple undertones, it would be very popular. Another example is Poetic Light by Behr.
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge - so helpful and fun to watch! I love Balboa Mist, but I'm not sure how it will pair with "naked oak"-coloured wood flooring in both north and south-facing bedrooms. Do you think the yellow/beige in the floor will bring out the beige in Balboa Mist? Will they pair well together? Thank you!
What neutral/white wall color do you recommend for south/southwest facing room with lots of sunlight, dark wood trim and ceilings, medium oak wood floors, no furniture yet, but likely using a red chair with burnt orange undertone. Any chance you could respond soon? Need to decide by today/tomorrow. Thanks!!!!!!
I am trying to decide between Balboa Mist and Pale Oak (Benjamin Moore) for whole house color in our new build. Very large great room with 16 ft vaulted ceilings, giant windows on South and North facing sides, vault goes all the way through, great nature views out South side back windows. White shiplap on vaulted ceilings, wood beams, walnut dining table, caramel leather chairs by stone fireplace, black baby grand piano, neutral off white couches and chairs, crystal chandeliers. I want it to feel elegant, magical, and calm/peaceful/inviting. Kind of Rustic elegance with a touch or modern farmhouse. These 2 colors seem so similar and I love them both. Just don't know which one will bring the ambiance I want in our space. Thoughts?
Hi, Jacob. Really appreciate the color advice in your videos! I have a small, north facing room with little natural sunlight. There are cherry hardwood floors and a brick fireplace with dark gray and pinkish tones with cream mortar. Suggestions on a light gray paint color? Could Balboa Mist be an option?
I'm trying to find the right griege/gray to go in the North hallways that spills into the south living room. The living room was painting in BM Stormy Monday, which I had reduced by 75% so it looks like a medium-pale gray. We had Revere Pewter on the hallways ut it clashes and looks too pink. The floors are also that tuscan beige ceramic tile popular throughout the southwest. So I'm trying to find a few color choices in the greige tones that will compliment the transition from front entry to the end of the hallway in Stormy Monday. Help!
In your opinion, would Balboa mist pair or compliment bm antique pewter? I'm painting two separate rooms and I have my mind set on antique pewter I'm just trying to figure out a good complimentary color. Thank you for the excellent content and information!
I have a house with a Dark brown roof. The siding is a very light gray , looks bleached out from the sun. I would say more cool than warm. Or in the middle. Would like to use china wite for my window trim , over hangs.sea salt for front door and possible brown for shutters. Right now the trim is nlack and shutters are also black. I dont want to have to paint the siding! The house is a split level and their is parcel orang. Brown and terria cotta brick colors. I would like to paint that also! Thought about a gray white wash?
Hi, I've watched a lot of your videos. I've just painted my living room revere pewter. I have it on my kitchen cabinets and love it there. But It's awful in my living room. Has a pasty blue green scrubs look. I have to re-paint it. My living room has a large window, but it is blocked by a covered porch. South facing. I like warm grey, and I like slight taupe or mushroom tone (but not pink). I'm super confused about what color to pick. My style is mid century and I have maple wood floors and floorboards.
Not a fan of gray because I have a hard time with the underlying color tone, some have yellow, others have green and some blue or purple. I would like to see colors that work with a Traditional home, our style is old world charm. When we moved in, we painted the entire house Spanish Sand by Kelly Moore, but it looks dark in our den because of lack of outdoor light. Please give us some suggestions besides gray....oh and we have oak cabinets, oak banister, not by choice, but that's what we have to work with. Thanks!
Very informative video. I painted my foyer, entrance, hallway which all leads into my formal dinning room. All of that was painted classic gray OC-23. I feel the dinning room now looks a little bland and cold. most furniture off white and red in that room. I dont want to repaint the hallways. Just add a tadd bit depth to the walls in dinning room and still keeping it flow well into the hallways since its all open concept. Do you think that Balboa mist will pair well with the classic gray and still give that depth or should i go with wind's breath or collingwood? I dont want to make a dramatic difference in color family between hallway and dinning room, just want to add some depth and gray color to the dinning room.
Hi there, that's a technical question. Every earthy countertop has different undertones. There is no such thing as one paint color that will go with all earthy countertops. Also the paint color needs to pair well with the other undertones of your room to make sure it doesn't clash or else it will feel like something is off. A warm or cool gray could work but it depends on alot of factors.
I am also trying to match that color countertop. I have beige walls and I do not like them at all! Is there a grey that will match that color of countertop?
Hi, I’ve been learning a lot from your videos, thank you! I love paint but find it so confusing to change it in my home. I love gray but my home is mostly creams, beiges and earth tones. Therefore, I rarely look at grays. I’ve tried greiges but fail, lol. I’m looking to paint my light oak kitchen cabinets and have had a problem finding a good color choice. My countertops are tan/brown with a hint of white peaking through. I’ll keep watching your videos and trying. What do you think of Benjamin Moore’s Bradstreet Beige? Would love to see a video on that color. Thank you!
My furnishings in my family room are dark browns. Brown leather couches and brown tables and hutch. My floor is multi colour hardwood, browns and beiges and some light board thrown in. Balboa Mist is the wall colour I have chosen. There is a pony wall that goes around the perimeter of the whole room and it measures 3 feet tall. It will be capped with a wood. Probably oak. I would like to paint the pony wall a different colour but not go too dark. That is why I’d like to know what colour would suit balboa Mist the best and possibly stay in the greiges. Or maybe not. What do u suggest. Thank you.
Agatha Hsu yes I did paint my walls Balboa and went 50% darker on an accent wall. Looks good by could have gone 75% darker. It made our family room so much brighter. Love it!
This weekend I painted part of my apartment with Classic Gray. Once I started the painting process I felt this color was very "white" , and I'm on the fence, to continue with this color. I have a studio apartment, all the cabinetry matches, (all are a cherry brown tone and tbd carpeting is almost a Carmel, any thoughts?
Yes. I have Balboa Mist on my walls and am looking for a darker color for the interior doors. What would you recommend (or would you go 25% or 50% darker with balboa mist??) Thanks!
Hi Deb, I rarely recommend any interior paint color based on another paint color alone. You should always consider the other colors and undertones you may have in your home before deciding the perfect paint that will pair with all the elements and colors in your home. Feel free to check out the link in the video down below if you need help.
What you need to really know about this paint color is that it will turn into big pinkish-purple blotches on your walls. What a disaster. We put Balboa Mist on top of Behr primer and used pro painters. A year later there were pink blotches bleeding through the griege. (Before the primer the walls had been a creamy off white.) The painters did two coats and it looked fine. We were about the list our house when we saw the blotches. The rooms hadn’t been occupied but were furnished and open to the rest of the house. The windows faced Northeast. I’ve been a restoration architect for over 30 years and I’d painted the rest of the house in Benjamin Moore as well, but not related to Balboa Mist. I would NEVER EVER use it again. Yes the undertones matter A LOT. Our new house needs a full remodel and we’re a long way away from the nearest Benjamin Moore dealer. My husband was stunned when I pulled out my color reader and BM fan decks for the new house. “You’re not really going to insist on Benjamin Moore after what happened in the last house are you?” He’s got a good point. Be CAREFUL. It was a very expensive problem.
I love gray and need help with gray. Can you please do silver satin review? I want an off-white gray like silver satin or something comparable for a home with warm red-toned hickory flooring. I love listening to you.
How many of you out there are a fan of gray paint colors if you love gray paint colors let me know by typing, Yes, but if your not a fan of gray paint colors tell me why in the comment section down below. I would love to hear your response.
I painted my entire interior home in Balboa Mist. LOVE it!
Do you have any pictures? I love this color and may use it too.
what color trim did you use?
We painted our camper this color and love it!
Awesomeness! Happy for you:)

YES!! Most definitely a big fan of gray. Until this video I wouldn’t have considered this color. It’s a very nice gray!
Jennifer, awesomeness! Yes, Balboa is a beautiful paint color:)

I have this color in our finished basement, without windows. Looks great and adds a lot of light!
I'm happy for you:) Thank you for sharing.

What paint color besides Chantilly Lace would you pair with a black and white marble checkerboard floor in the foyer?
Yes, a huge fan of greige paint, it looks soft, modern and calming. I'm just looking at painting my condo I recently moved into, I painted my last place almost 5 years ago Agreeable Gray and loved it in every light and angle. Can we talk about the differences between Balboa Mist and Collingwood?
I would like to learn more about them too. I really like both!

What white or gray goes well with Balboa Mist

Same question, only it's my kitchen countertop and island/ Worried now because designer has picked Balboa Mist.
I have a small home... Always thought grey would be dull... What do you think? Appreciate advice
So many beautiful interior paint colors besides gray! It depends on the interior decor and fixed elements that you have in your space.
Is balboa mist lighter than collingwood?
Does balboa mist work in a west facing room?
I’ve never been a fan of gray paint. Trying to embrace it looking at the current samples on my walls. It’s so moody...like a mood ring is with light!
Yes! Big fan of gray's!
Very nice color. Would the color go with Lowe’s SenSa Caroline Summer Granite Kitchen Countertop?
Hi Samar, no it wouldn't pair with that countertop.
Jacob Owens Designs Thank you for your prompt response. Would agreeable gray work better for the countertop?
I am also trying to match that color countertop. I have beige walls and I do not like them at all! Is there a grey that will match that color of countertop?

You could do White Dove or Kendall Charcoal.
Have you checked out Sherwin Williams’ Accessible Beige? Very pretty beige with gray undertone...my sister and mom love it on their walls.
Thanks for that. Very helpful. I am not a fan of grey. I am a nurse and it reminds me of hospital basements and tunnels.
I love grey for my bathroom walls, cabinets, and vanities.
Yes but I love the cool grays
Hi Kathy, awesome, good to know😊 Benjamin Moore has a wonderful collection of cool Gray's 👍🏻
