As an American, it has always amazed me that so many other Americans talk about the rest of the world as though it was nothing but a big blank space with the resources we want and nothing else. John Bolton saying: "We're looking into the oil reserves." or even the Iran-Contra affair show this. For some reason a good portion of America seems to forget that "What's best for America." Is not always what's best for another country or its people.
People all over the world need to think more win-win rather than win-lose.
Actually, not even best for America. Since you guys are helping destroy the world. Not much use for oil after the whole world heats up.
See it isn't isn't "What's best for America" it is blatantly "What's best for American oil companies" and "What's best for American weapon manufacturers". Taking Venezuela's oil won't create jobs for Americans, it won't put money in the pocket of the average American, it will increase the stock price of a few American companies, while costing American tax-payers billions of dollars.
@Klantvinder.com Amurderkans needed Vietnamese rubber though for their French made Michelin tires don't forget. And Standard Oil does have wells off their coast now.
It's not so hard to understand. America is evil.
"Do you see anyone calling on us to invade Georgia.... again."
Wow. Sick civil war burn. Lol
Abrams evil laugh when the guy suggested he should stand trial in The Hague falls under the "you can't make it up" category. He was the Stephen Miller of the 80's, except even worse.
The U.S. doesn't care about the starving Yemeni, but Venezuela has the largest oil reserve in the world.
Anne George : Wrong. Venezuela’ cheaply accessible oil reserves are gone. What’s left, you need the fracking technology to reach them. Much more expensive, and also much, much more polluting, particularly at sea. But the US doesn’t care about that, do they ?
Myriam Ickx Oh God that's even worse 😦😷
@@myriamickx7969 So what does the United Snakes care about, then?
Well they are selling billions of dollars in arms to the Saudis to make sure they get rid of those pesky Yemeni. So they care insofar as those lower forms are like job security. But not much else.
Myriam Ickx LIAAAR
"COULD be considered a war crime"!? Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best. Before Abrams, the US was already the biggest purveyor. Wait. Even before King, Eisenhower warned against the US military industrial complex. Gotta keep those arms manufacturers happy, right?
Trump trash love their white welfare, oops I mean "defense" spending.
“Biggest purveyor” is false equivalency. The Soviet union was definitely, definitely worse.
@@connerclark3678 Now it appears we've taken the title.
@Bartô N Operation Condor and AFRICOM beg to differ. The US has been on every humanitarian watch list for decades and it's people never seem to wake up.
Trump doesn't care about it.
How do these criminals keep getting jobs when if someone's caught with a roach in there car they cant work at Walmart?
Cus republican are very charitable to provide jobs to criminals.
America does not accept that it's citizens can commit war crimes. Americans consider other humans to be second class.
@@agenthex
WHITE collar criminals! Aren't they trying to build a wall to keep brown people out and have "private" prisons for black people (No criminals no business).
Because when they get caught, its usually with several hundred million dollars of money belonging to their many hundreds of friends in Washington who can go to jail with them. Friends in high places and all that...
“We stand with the Venezuelan people *aka oil* and their noble quest for freedom *that does not include the freedom to nationalize their oil*”
their oil was always sold mostly to the US and the US and canada set up their industry to begin with. the final cleaning process for venezuelan oil is by the way performed on US soil and they never changed that since the oil was found decades ago even though the money from the oil turned Venezuela from a meat and milk producing land into the richest of south america until Chavez came into power in the same way Trump did, lies. Chavez then stole so much of the money that the repairs were no longer done on anything and the country collapsed into ruins. people were already starving when the embargos were started and the embargos had no effect on the common people, I lived there at the time.
Maduro is just the new figurehead after Chavez of the Los Soles cartel.
Elliot Abrams checks all the villain boxes, souless and regret less. L.A. suffered, (and still does) the consequences of these actions, Venezuela needs support, not to become another playground for US economics interests.
This is about HUMANITY and the loss of LIFE, let alone liberties. This is NOT a partisan issue, this is a peoples in dire need of urgent rescue. Maduro does not permit assistance - PLEASE I ask that you read about this, talk to a Venezuelan. We are out of options.
@@obcl8569 Yep except this team has a knack at making things worse , I do hope other countries than Trump's USA have a pass at helping Venezuela out
ofelia belen cabrera lander And since when has the US ever rescued anybody when they’ve invaded or overthrown another country? Who did they save in Iraq or Afghanistan? Or Haiti or Cuba or the Philippines? The US does not save people, it exploits them.
@@claudeghendrih762 Yeah but the world is too afraid of the US. Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia need to stand up for each other and their smaller countries since the US has been terrorising them much more than china or Russia. Venezuela needs our help, not the US's money making machine for it's war complex
@@eagle3676Well arguably Russia was quite a terrorizer for quite some time , and seems quiet hard set to become one once again . China terrorizes some of its immediate neighbors . But truth be told the USA have been very good at wrecking havoc in southern America
Thanks for drawing attention to this. What a nightmare.
This is some serious truth right here, honestly I'm surprised TBS could handle it
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. And the ridiculous part is they seem to think that the rest of the world is dumb enough to fall for the same trick twice
She should've mentioned more the kind of damage our sanctions are doing in Venezuela.
no damage. The people of Venezuela were already starving I was there at the time.
First the criticism for military-industrial complex and now this. Speaking truth to Power!!!
@Haroon Abdul Majeed you are cuter. Tell me the rest.
Don't forget the economic sanctions the US has place on Venezuela, that's the main reason why people is starving. A huge detail
That's actually a miss understanding, the sanction when to stop giving money to the regime, before Chavez and Maduro we used to sell oil and food to the US. Now with all the corruption and the no private business all the money goes to pokects of those in power while the people died of polio because there are no vaccines.
Another prallel to Iraq.
Respectfully, saying that’s the main reason is far from true - and it gives Maduro’s regime, who has fundamentally failed his people through corruption and irresponsible spending, an excuse instead of the accountability it deserves. I disagree with US intervention but that shouldn’t mean we lay all blame at the USA when it isn’t the case.
@Mark Elliot mines are out!! You have no idea what is like to live in Venezuela at the hands of a dictatorship. Walk a mile on my shoes, I hope don't fine medicine for any of your medical reasons, so your only option is to watch the people closer to you die. I hope you like me meet with black markerties for a pound of chicken. Fool your are an spoil baby, go out to see the world. Go to Venezuela and try to survive.
A very ignorant comment. Venezuela's crisis was triggered by years of mismanagement, corruption, incompetence and sheer display of egos. Sanctions came later after democracy was eroded and killed in the country.
there we go, he said it XD "we want our companies to run their oil" XD
i just find it hypocritically hilarious that USA, a country that screaming another country is meddling with their internal affair, is really looking forward to meddle with another country's internal affair! This is irony written in a bright neon sign!
It's hypocrisy, do what I say and not what I do.
Especially when it didn't happen, AND there was no Trump Russia collusion either, AND there was no chemical attack by Basher Al Assad in Douma Syria or anywhere else in Syria for that matter, AND Russia didn't annex Crimea. Much easier to list what the US has done indisputably all over the World, but it would fill pages.
It isn't planning to interfere in Venezuela, it already has done for decades.
That laugh was chilling. This is pure evil. Has no problem with making war in a country but is disgusted when the innocent citizens of these countries want asylum here
The elections in Venezuela weren't rigged. When you tell your supporters not to vote, and they don't vote, it is called conceding defeat. It doesn't even matter whether Maduro actually is a criminal. What America has been doing to Venezuela since Chavez's day is a crime against humanity.
Of course, committing crimes against humanity is America's forte'.
Just to clarify a comment, forte' has a musical connotation, and forte denotes a strength.
Thank you for opposing a war of aggression with Venezuela.
No war.
Lift the sanctions.
Leave sovereign countries alone.
America is an imperial power and it's citizens are rancid with imperialism.
don't lift the sanctions. I wonder if Americans calling for the lift of sanctions have read my country's news for the past 20 years. we have had shortages of at least one thing since 2002. the bulk of the economic crisis comes from plummeting oil prices and corruption. sanctions or not, money for foreign revenue just does not reach the bulk of the population; that's what happens when corruption overtakes your country, which relies on the foreign trade of only one commodity. sanctions don't involve food or medicines.
Another ignorant liberal American talking about my country and supporting Maduro. Shame on you !!! You uneducated ignorant !!!
Troll, pendeja chavista

I thought we had started the year on the right foot. The three episodes were loaded in sequence, until this week. Short lived. Thanks for labelling them. I appreciate that.
Weren't American oil companies told to pay up on their oil back taxes or get out?
Thanks to Sam Bee, I now have "While We were Marching through Georgia" playing in my head.
Colombia have been killing farmers, indigenous leaders and political opposition. Where is your indignation for us?
*Looks up from counting laundered drug money*
"Sorry, did you say something?"
Americans: Russians meddled in our elections and hurt our democracy!
Also Americans: Eyyyyy let's make this random guy Venezuela's president!
US did not put thos guy as president. If was the Venezuela Congress? That is the only part of the government elected. MADURO accused, imprisoned and disbanded all the opposition candidates also reduced the participation...si the presidential election was a fake.
Also US keep taking about the impeachment of TRUM, if that happens it will be cout or a democratic decision? The same case is in Venezuela
Hakim but the people that collaborated with Russia in 2016 are the same people have been the power behind the throne in ever major coup our government supported or instigated
@@rodU65 "MADURO accused, imprisoned and disbanded all the opposition candidates"
LOL Do you work for Exxon?
If I was involved in a massive international corruption scandal in involving paying hundreds of millions in bribes, kidnapped Trump and held him hostage during a treasonous coup to overthrow the US government, would not allowing me to run against him for president would be a problem?
Another far-right guy was on house arrest for murdering 43 people in a coup attempt he organized and lead. He wasn't tried for his prior kidnapping of government officials.
The third guy was planning to assassinate Maduro, ending democracy in Venezuela and commit several terrorist attacks against civilian targets.
You are angry about terrorists not being allowed to run?
The US who backs the far right terrorist opposition with millions of dollars asked the opposition not to run.

How on Earth is this show not more popular?! Sam is the best political comic around to date!
honestly surprised by Samantha Bee on this one. Good work.
“That’s right Georgia! You lost the civil war “😂😂😂
I love you for this Sam 😍, this evil man left my parents home country in shambles and has yet to recover
Something interesting about Venezuela to consider before starting a war is that they're not on the other side of an ocean.
There is the Panama channel and the Gulg, not that it's the same. But, the ones making decisions are likely counting on that. That it won't splash on them, they will just send more troops and spend more money. It will even help justify the whole Wall idea.
Nevermind that the tax money required to fortify the channel and the US South coast will far exceed any possible gain from intervention. After all, the ones paying taxes are the peasants and while the profits go straight to Wall Street and Rockfeller's accounts. If the costs of their political puppets being elected and the gains of using their leverage turn the sum positive, they are all for it.
Hands of Venezuela. Peace not War. Stop the sanctions. Thanks for this good piece S. Bee.
Guatemalan here: THANK YOU for talking about this.

Venezuela is in more turmoil than the inside of Trump's brain.
Sam Bee does better journalism than many so-called journalists. Venezuela needs our support.
@@Shu-ig5fi Why
That doesn’t mean America should come and “save” them.
I think the only thing going on in Trump's brain is "can I go play golf now?! No? I still need to say words?...... Now can I go play golf?" .... over and over again.
You're comparing real chaos to a ghost town. I don't mean he has no brain, no it's literally possessed by ghosts.

Its sad when Sam B. proves to be a much better investigative journalist then MSNBC or any other "news" channel.
Excellent witchy cackle, BTW, Sam.
Bolton said the magic word: "oil". It's always about oil. No more information is required.
Great show...
U r right.... Abrams is the worst vampire in the world.... Lots kids & women's blood on his hands....
If Abrams trimmed the bottom-outside part of his eyebrows, he would look like a Vulcan.
Venezuela is in economic trouble due to sanctions and a market flooded by cheap Saudi crude oil.
Very informative segment.
My family moved from Venezuela and I had always hoped that some time in my life I'd be able to go back amd see it.
Guess that's not happening.
Trump bobbles his head with nearly every word he says in the SOTU speech lol
Crazy how politicians, and well known tv anchors like Fareed Zakaria and Adrea Mitchell, speak of this Elliot Abrams guy in a positive manner. Like he's the best America has to offer. Full disclosure, never heard of this dude till now. But I trust Samantha Bee enough to believe he isn't someone that would make me feel like a proud American.
If anyone was wondering what "out of the frying pan and into the fire" looks like from a foreign policy perspective, look no further than Venezuela.
Thank you!!!
"I hear the Hague is nice this time of year."
In Latin America we would say, “Sam, lo que dijiste fue brillante”!
It's super windy in The Hague at the moment... he'd need to put lead boots on if he doesn't want his eyebrows to catch the wind and fly away..... actually that sounds like a fine idea. Who knows where he'll end up?
Hey Sam nice job
It's very irresponsible to just show a clip of a rando yelling "Maduro's responsible for the crisis" and not mention any other factor, like the US sanctions.
Hon, the sanctions obviously worsen the situation but Maduro's government's gross mismanagement of the country's economy is definitely the number one cause fro the crisis of Venezuela. The 10 million inflation rate is sadly a self made problem, a result of a shameless idiot backed by a group of violent enablers printing money like that will make the country rich. The US does not have a great track record of helping latinamerican countries and they are certainly not doing any batter now but don't be confused, Maduro is without a doubt responsible for, if not the entirety of the crisis, at least for making it reach the dire levels it's at right now. There's literally no food in the country, a months salary can barely pay for full loaf of bread, there is no medicine... I could go on.
I agree it's quite difficult to see one random person yelling "this is the president's fault" and taking them at their word, but there are HUNDREDS of videos all around the internet spanning almost a decade with hundreds of thousands of people chanting the same and very explicitly showing however is willing to listen how dire the situation is.
The sanctions are beside the point. The root cause of the crisis in Venezuela is the Chavez/Maduro regime. Whataboutism has no place when people are starving and jobless, millions have left the country and the *infant* mortality rate is climbing.
yeah it's all chávez/maduro's fault sure
you people are aware that the reason chávez was elected in the first place was the massive poverty and starvation under the prævious régime, right? and that chávista policies basically eliminated these problems until the oil prices crashed and the u.s. sanctions came along?
Which US sanctions caused Venezuela’s crisis? Please enlighten us.
@ǝɹɐɯʇɥᵷᴉu evergreen Yes, I am aware of the platform under which both Chavez and Maduro ran their campaigns and presidencies. I also know that the administration previous to Chavez's was not exactly made of saints and the corruption ran rampant, as it does in nearly every Latianmerican country.
But, I am also keenly aware of the gross mismanagement with which Chavez, and especially Maduro, handled Venezuela's economy. US suctions don't help, but Chavez's obsessive focus with the petrol industry and his neglect of other sectors of the economy laid the foundation of the economic crisis pretty solidly before Maduro, the absolute buffoon, ended up crashing it this badly by having a complete lack of understanding of how inflation works. The inflation that resulted out of both Chavez's and Maduro's administration saying "just print more money!" until the Bolivar was so devualuated people weight it instead of counting it was not the US's fault, it was their own administration's fault. Neither is it the shortage of food and medicine that seems to affect everyone in Venezuela but the top oligarchs. The people is starving while the president eats luxury food overseas. And that is no one's fault but their own
Samantha has got quite a kickass presentation stance! I'm listening.
We of the dutch delegation reject your invite to have your guy in our country.. we would like to give him to nicaragua, we hear the weather is better there for old men
Well I think Den Haag would be an appropriate place for Abrams. I have heard they have really nice courts there

8:34 Rapacious. great word choice, Sam.
As a venezuelan I do not care about the war crimes of Mr. Abrams of the past, i can tell you that we need that kind of Iron Fist, because the crime and deterioration of the police force require an inmidiate strong action against the Maduro Regime and his Narco-State. You can have all the oil we have, we need to start over as a Nation and we have what it takes! Thank you for your support!
I recall that time as one of turmoil in Central and South America.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Sam for your very appropriate outrage (that other talking heads, strangely, are not showing). Also - his evil laugh in response to someone calmly calling him out on his wrongdoings reminded me that sociopaths seem to be running this world (and getting away with it). How do the decent people of the world not feel helpless?! Having a sense of humanity is a strength, not a weakness - but how do we harness that strength?!
Oh, Sam! You have to try the eyebrows!! It'll start a new trend!!!
Mr. Abrams did you consider that God and I are not laughing.

WW I and WW II; Cold War; Panamá deposition of Noriega; Yugoslavia bombing; Libia invasion... I'm not saying there have been bad decisions (In fact terrible), but the R2P and how the military not only defends the US but also democracy is impressive.
