Did you enjoy the longer and slower pace style of video? Let us know! Cheers! (If you noticed, Nick had to switch boats during the dive because he was running out of gas LOL)
God, I hate how UA-cam favors low effort channels over this, lol. Btw Im building an ambient pressure sub, with a divers exit for scuba diving, I think it will be done sometime this winter. Far to bad at engineering to build a 1 ATM sub, good luck, I hope you get the views you deserve.
That’s an amazing build. A few years ago I hardly knew anything about subs but after playing Stormworks you really learn a lot of the complications that go into building a sub and that’s just a video game that’s not 100% realistic so I can only imagine all the research that went into this build.
wow! retired Marine here.. i live on a lake.. this would be wickedest thing to do here! omg!! come visit!!! lol see some big ol lake salmon !! Cheers from the woods of Maine!! this is sooo cool!

I've been thinking about building my own wet-sub for years. Something along the lines of a Navy SDV but for two divers. I applaud you on tackling the challenge of a 1ATM sub, though I wince at some of the engineering setups you're running. I wish you a long and SAFE journey and will look forward to your videos.
Amazing project. I do hope in your risk and contingency planning you have covered a rescue in the event the occupants were incapacitated (eg nitrogen narcosis or unconscious or injured). Is there a way the sub can be surfaced, vented , and opened by rescue divers outside, without needing any participation from persons inside? It’s clear you have a lot of contingency options when the pilot is ok, but what options are there if that’s not the case?
I don't mean to go for the obvious low hanging fruit here, but let's just say this submarine has had more care and attention to detail than some commercially operated submersible vehicles. It's genuinely impressive.
Don’t get me wrong this is really cool! However, I went back and watched the other videos as well as this one and they all just show it go down and back up. Even the one with your girlfriend showed you were just sitting in weeds in the bottom. Can we get a video of you showing how it actually moves, even if it’s “1 MPH”? Regardless it’s still badass!
Yes, waiting on the new batteries to do a full underwater trip. We moved underwater in both the dive with the gf video and restauraunt video but it moves very slow. Once the new batteries are in, we promise and you will love it. Thanks!
Seems like you've planned well for power loss, leaks, and equipment failures, but what about fires? Do you have a full respirator and fire extinguisher? Just curious..
Idea 1: the camera shots you have are amazing but there isn't a way to see the lake bed Idea 2: colobrate with the guys from CPSdrone IE (submarine with controls for a tiny scout sub) PS: please pardon my spelling errors, living with Dislexia has its beenifits but as you can read it's drawbacks make themself know easier.
additional idea, emergency ear plugs. It's just a pair of ear plugs in a plastic bag with a magnet to stick it to the hull. This would improve comfert when you don't want to hear the Co2 scrubbers. more practical idea is a solarpannel attached to the parascope for prolonged battery power another idea is to search for Geocaches. This could be difficult, I don't know how common underwater Geocashes are so they might not be in your area I am watching the 24 hour in a sub video and the part with the hotdog outside the view port makes me think "submarine can get up close to fish and other see creatures, that would be cool" if you do another 14 hour's in a submarine a timelaps pointing out of the view ports would be nice. proto type ways to deflect condensation and some sort of pump to remove condansate that will devolope on the flore. I watch another UA-cam channel by the name of Hyce. He has a series called story's from the shop you should check out. perhaps you could share some of your stories.
Yessir, we have a lot of big video plans to try and hit 1M subscribers! The electronics will be removed for the video. The soda lime not so worried about and will be breathing scuba during the flooding. It's never been done before on camera, let alone, UA-cam. Thanks a lot!
I saw the dive tank on the floor I assume that is for blowing ballast. For the flooding escape it would probably be good to have a rescue breath bottle they only give a a few breaths but something that might be nice waiting for the pressure to equalize.
Assuming you skipped through the part where I show the Co2 Tank for blowing ballast? The full size dive tank is for flooding. I'll take a pony bottle if we're diving deeper.
But also shows how bad carbon fibre is for subs any little imperfection and there goes your sub but with metal as you can see in the vid you can have rust and it’s fine most the time
Carbon fibre reinforced epoxy would be ok for your sub because I don't suppose you intend to expose it to more than 3 or 4 atmosphere pressure above ambient, for a deep dive sub it is a disastrous choice!
That's the Co2 Meter at 5,000ppm. I never set it to 10,000 when I installed it cause it doesn't bother me. Just keeps me more alert of the Co2 level. lol
@@PlanesBoatsandSubmarines that's impressiv, it made me nervous and annoyed me in just a few minutes lol. You are the first who DIYs a submersible who thinks about safty, and it's a pleasure. Please take care when you upgrade to lithium batterys, as far as I know every industrie even the military subs suffer from burning li batterys from time to time, would be a real shame to lose you or the sub for that reason
Intentionally flooding the sub so you can escape will ruin most, if not all, of your electronics. That would almost set you back to square one. That is a big price to pay for likes and subscriptions.
We would remove the expensive electronics. You do know that we make our money off the views right? It would pay for itself tenfold. lol. UA-cam is a business for views at the end of the day.
Did you enjoy the longer and slower pace style of video? Let us know! Cheers! (If you noticed, Nick had to switch boats during the dive because he was running out of gas LOL)
how is your submarine powered?
This was cool. I think it was packed with a lot of info. Can’t wait to see you chug along at 3mph! Maybe your should start a gofundme for batteries 🙂

Are you gonna do a video on the blueprints
@@kieranmilner4208 Funny you say that, im making a model of compressed air system rn lol

This was a very helpful video, all I need now is a submarine.

I applaud you on tackling the challenge of a 1ATM sub, though I wince at some of the engineering setups you're running.

i hope you make more videos about driving the submarine and not just only talking about it, since it would be cool to see the sub more in action
That is certainly the plan! Thanks! Cheers
It's really cool to see how a submarine works from up close!

I love all of this man, keep it up!
Thanks 🔥
A night dive would be cool
You probably already saw it, but I did in our last video - The 24 Hour Underwater Challenge. Cheers
Learned alot from this video. Love submarines

Awesome work. Time for Das Boot 2: rig for silent running.
Lets go for some Red October stunts ;-)
Best YT every
Be cool to see you dive it to near maximum depth. Be a good video.
We plan to next season!
I love your videos so much I hope you keep making them
We will! Thanks a lot!
Like this submarine ❤🌎
This is awesome! Subscribed
Thanks for the sub!

Yes to both, on board scuba tank you can also use for a fire and there is a fire extinguisher. Cheers
Badass dude!
Luv dat sub btw! Lol
Would love to see longer videos. Just give us everything - uncut.
Thanks a lot, noted!

Flood the boat and escape for a video? YIKES! What happens when the soda lime and electronics get wet? Keep the videos going!!! 👍🏴☠️🖖

Crossing the Great Lakes.
5:47 no gap lights is insane for checking a water seal. How do commercial subs do it?
will you ever consider making another sub that has improvements (like built in radios and more space to move around in)

Are there vent valves as well as the flood valves? (for the emergency escape)
Yessir. Thanks for watching!
Be careful with lithium ion if they get wet they tend to short out and flame which could be a problem
I meant Lithium Iron Phosphate. My bad
Yoo first
Add decoy Torpedos
Awesome. What depth is it designed for?
60 feet but he might be able to go down a lot more?
60 feet, yes. Theoretically I could push close to 120 feet but will never do that. Safety margin 1:2.

Things you should never say
1: We have a plan for everything
We do, but a couple result in death you just have to accept it. Jokes aside, 99% of situations, we do with surviving.
Thank you for sharing. Last video was a great opportunity for your gf to see if she liked it.
How many balance tanks does it have
Next you have to build some torpedoes. 🤓
We will, inert ones of course lol
When you build a better sub then ocean gate
But also shows how bad carbon fibre is for subs any little imperfection and there goes your sub but with metal as you can see in the vid you can have rust and it’s fine most the time
Is there no drop weights on the sub?
Nope!
I'm not going to lie this seems like the most New York thi g you can build if you live in upstate New York
Carbon fibre reinforced epoxy would be ok for your sub because I don't suppose you intend to expose it to more than 3 or 4 atmosphere pressure above ambient, for a deep dive sub it is a disastrous choice!
You probably could yes, but carbon fiber has a very bad reputation for submarines . I'm happy we stuck with steel.
Stockton Rush search history be like:
No he was googling carbon fiber and "cheapest"
What's that Beeping in the background? Alien proximity sensor?

What's next? Are you going to build a spaceship? 😜
How long until you can take this out into the ocean?
It's fresh water only. I don't think it's designed for salt water.
Correct, fresh water only.
If a fire starts in there and you’re underwater seems like you’d be dead very quick from the oxygen being consumed by the fire. pretty dangerous
Hi
How is your submarine powered?
3, 55lb electric thrusters
whats the max depth of this setup?
60FT
@@PlanesBoatsandSubmarineswow! That’s deeper than I thought!

lol, cheers
Guy built an entire submarine, but thinks $500 is expensive for batteries???
What’s your subs crush depth?
120 Feet
dude its so rusty
normal for submarines, it's steel and always wet or humid.
When will you be ready for salt water ocean?
Lithium ion batteries in a sub?! You mean Lithium Iron Phosphate?
Lithium ion in a boat is dangerously dumb, never mind a sub!
Sorry, yes. LiFePO

The sub is only designed to go down to 60 feet
