  • At the Abandoned SUMMERWIND MANSION on a ghost hunting expedition, we experience Strange PARANORMAL Activity including hearing Spirit Voices. Rumored to be haunted, the Summerwind Mansion aka Lamont Mansion burned down in the 80's after a years of creepy and unexplained (some say supernatural) events. The ruins of Summerwind remain abandoned today due to all the unusual paranormal activity.
A little Sumerwind History: Former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Robert P. Lamont purchased the property in the early 1900's. While living there, the Lamont family experience a number of terrifying and unexplained events. One night a ghostly apparition appeared from the basement. Robert Lamont grabbed his black powder pistol and shot at it. The apparition disappeared, and the bullet holes cold be seen in the basement door until the house burnt down.

No offense but the wind picking up isn’t odd especially near a lake

    • @SightseeingSally
      @SightseeingSally  3 роки тому +2

The wind wasn’t coming from the lake. And it was more like someone was blowing on the back of my neck. But yeah, I agree, not really odd. Our imaginations can create things that seem real at the time. So who knows? The members of Fox Valley Ghost Hunters believe they are picking up spirits with their spirit box. Maybe all we have to do is believe and it will be so.

My parents have had a place less than a mile a way from Summerwind since I was a little girl. When I was around 9 years old (1975ish) we took a bunch of family on snowmobiles to check it out. As I recall, the house was still pretty intact. I remember being in the kitchen and there were potatoes (yes rotting) in the potato bin. There was a really nice pool table in the basement - inside the arched stonework that is still there. The fireplaces had ornate paintings of peacocks around them. I remember one upstairs bedroom had lots of children's toys and clothing that were just left there like they left in a hurry. I have been looking thru my parents photos trying to find pictures of that trip - I know we took pictures inside. No luck so far - only outside pictures out on that stone area that still exists. I was driving home from college in the late 80's when I heard that it had been hit by lightning and burned to the ground. I revisited the site via ATV in the winter with my niece in 2008 and took 7 pictures of what was left. On the way out we were stopped by a black truck with two very large men (very terrifying) that happened to be DNR. Those 7 pictures cost me a ticket for driving an ATV on a road that wasn't allowed for around $250. I didn't care - I got the pictures and will always remember what the place was like before it burned down. We still vacation at my parents place and I always go by Summerwind on West Bay to say hi. Can't see it anymore from the lake but it makes me remember that visit when I was young and how beautiful it was.

How am I just finding this!? Went there many, many years with my two cousins in the middle of the night. It is difficult to find, as mentioned...or at least it was then. We saw all kinds of orbs flying around the chimneys...mainly red and green colored. After seeing the show figure in archway at the 2:30 mark, all the goosebumps and creepiness came back to me!!!

    Sally...
Many years ago, when I was a young girl, my Dad, Mom, 3 brothers and my sister-in-law and I lived in an old farmhouse. When we moved in, there was a funeral wreath in an upstairs bedroom. They cleaned the house, we moved in and thought no more about that. Then late one night, we were watching TV in the living room. All of a sudden there was a very loud banging on the door. My Dad went to the door but nobody was there. It was an eerie feeling. My Dad and brothers went outside, but saw nothing. A few minutes later, it sounded as if someone ran thru the living room and bolted upstairs!
It sounded like a big man sat on the bed and threw his shoes across the floor. Then it sounded like he was moving furniture around.
My Dad slid the board "lock" in front of the door and they sat up all night. Come morning, they removed the board and went upstairs. Nothing was out of place!
When we had moved there, my brother was told "Oh, you live in the old head house!" We thought the previous tenant's last name was Head. Years later, my husband was talking with some friends and he asked if they knew anyrhing about that old house. They told him that a man had a terminal illness, (cancer) and one Sunday morning after getting ready for Church, he shot himself in the head in the barn. Fast forward a few more years and our daughter found the man's death certificate online. Cause of death: "self inflicted gunshot wound."
Same name as we were told, but not Head.
    Same address.
After that night of sheer terror...
We moved as soon as we could...
    😨

This is the first site where I had orbs in my photographs but I never felt any bad vibes... In fact, all I ever felt @ the Summerwind Mansion was a great peacefulness. In all honesty, most of the stories that have circulated, have been greatly over done. The man who 's daughter lived in the home made a lot of the stuff up in order to sell more books. The fact is, its not haunted by any evil spirits. Ive been to only 2 sites where fear and dispair seemed be radiate from the ground itself and this is not one of them. Its all hype, although I have to say, the Summerwind Mansion is certaily one of the most beautiful sites Ive visited!

I have never seen or heard a ghost, spirit or anything of the sort. I lived by a cemetery for around 6 years, it was in front of my house and beside my house. We lived on a curve in town. I would walk my dog at all hrs of the night through the cemetery. Never once did I see anything, one would think I would see something, but nope not one odd anything. I take that back, I did hear something, it turned out to be a herd of deer that I spooked. I also think that the radio voices that was heard was a person broadcasting somewhere near. But it did make for a fun show.
Thanks for the post card, it was a nice surprise. Loved the video, fun as always.

You’re welcome :) Thank you, I’m glad you liked it. For all I know the whole thing could be a dog and pony show meant to bring in $$. Or it could be tricks of the mind - stuff easily explained by psychology. Regardless, I enjoyed my experience and had fun listening to the spirit box recordings to see if I could pick out any voices.

Radiators are still found in many old homes. When I was young I lived in a few apartments in old houses that had them. Great heat and good for drying your socks. Nothing unusual about people dying in houses. My grandfather and grandmother died in my house. Other people also. I sleep in the bedroom and actual bed that my great grandfather died in. I never knew him. I wish he'd pay me a visit some night. I'd like to meet him.

He does visit you. Only, he does not want to awaken you or disturb you. No matter how you age, you are a child in his eyes. Most ancestors' ghosts do visit their living descendants, and you would never be aware of your family ghosts around you, them watching all the important events in your life. You are a baby in their eyes and they love you.

@@pinklady7184 I'm not sure that would be good. The next world is supposed to be a place with no cares or worries. Seeing your family in this world suffering from the problems and illnesses of this world would hardly be comforting to them. A parent would be distressed to see their children age and suffer the infirmities of old age and not be able to assist them.

If that's the case, I'd hate to think what was happening down on that dirt floor lol 😂

You're not going to find anything! Hate to spoil this for you, this whole story is way off of the truth! Nobody died here. My bedroom faced the lake. Yes, the information is incorrect. It burned down by lightning. The stone ledge was a huge veranda and the arches went under into the basement. I'm April, I was 10 years old. Nobody came to investigate the bones. These pictures were from my family. This guy must have read or watched the "Discovery Channel." He had the most accurate information. This ruined my family. There was rape, attempted murder, abuse and severe poverty. Nobody actually died in the buildings. There were several buildings beside the huge home. There were caretaker residents, and a laundry facility and a huge garage. It was a huge property, and there was only the lady who lived down the road who would never step foot on or in the property. The bathtub was on the second floor and you could see out to the lake from the veranda. Those bed frames were ours. We left at Christmas time and then within a month people stold everything, even the velvet wallpaper right off the walls! Makes me sooooo angry. It burned down by lightning. My uncle was there.

No, unfortunately it’s on private property and the group who manages it charges a mandatory “donation” to visit it.
