My 07 W900L C15 cat NSX just blew a head gasket. It would be really awesome if you could rebuild it. And you could do videos on it while working on it. But I'm in NE Ohio just a little too far away I'm afraid.
A couple weeks ago while Jeff Anderson was working on his excavator, he mentioned how an online forum used by Cat mechanics from all over the world was shut down all of a sudden. Mechanics used it to network and help each other out. Tons of good information accumulated over years out the window. Looking forward to the next phase, been watching for many years, learned a lot along the way. Appreciate the extra effort you put into sharing your experience. Cheers
What!!! Youre implying its a corporate right to repair tactic?? Very good info! Hiding schematics, procedures, and assy instructions. I understand though..these companies may be big, but they can fail if they cant bring business in
You know people are always looking for a quality and honest diesel mechanic. Hell, start your own shop and build your business. I bet you’ll be pretty busy and successful! Best of luck with your future endeavors and looking forward to watching and liking your content. BTW, I’ve been subscribed for several years and I don’t have any semi-trucks or heavy equipment. Just a 7.3 PowerStroke, but your videos are very informative and well done!

We sincerely appreciate all of your amazing videos Josh. Certainly their loss and a poor decision on Western States' part. From the videos I have watched over the years, YOU and your channel has brought work from all over the country... because of YOU. I'm excited to see what the future brings for you and your viewers! Maybe some 3608s or different engines... can't wait. All the best from the Midwest!
I bought my first truck with a CAT in 2016 and ever since you've saved my ass many times and saved me a ton of money. We all appreciate everything you do and will be watching no matter what. With the drive and skills you have you'll succeed anywhere.
I am a longtime subscriber. I have some CAT equipment. I welcome your return to repair videos as I do all my own work. Now almost every repair (that I haven't done before) starts with a UA-cam video search and view. UA-cam has given me the information and confidence to tackle almost any problem.
I’ve been watching your videos since 2017 and I can easily say you’re a big reason why I enrolled in a diesel tech program this past January…Best of luck in whatever you decide to do next

I can't begin to tell you how much you've helped me with your videos. I've watched them over the years and just today decided to subscribe and look at your UA-cam channel. Right on, Josh. You do you. As someone below said, a mechanic of your caliber and integrity will always be able to make a living. I very much look forward to the positive evolution of your channel.
Having a trade is a must these days unless you want to constantly get fired right before probationary period is supposed to end. (A lot of places in my area do this.)
Very good theory. Businesses everywhere of all types "fire" 30 percent of their staff by using what they know about you..best to never tell your boss too much about your personal situations
I don’t think I believe that. He brought in lots of customers, did tons of advertising for them. Even if he was making more than others, what he was doing made up for that in my opinion. This was probably a decision by their legal department.
Do what you have to do, Josh. Most of us out here are sure you won’t have any problems finding a new employer. You’ve put a lot of heart and soul into this channel. You have a great thing going here. Keep it up. 🙏👍
Josh what I love is your level-headedness and knowledge. I hope it isn't lost to Cat engines - but even more important not lost to the industry. We (the world) need Diesel Mechanics and there are getting fewer of them. Diesel engines aren't going away - Cat CEO in an interview talked decades at a minimum, in fact they are expanding right now the ability to make large engines 3500, C175 and 3600/C280. Your UA-cam channel inspired many and hopefully encourages some that wouldn't have otherwise seen a career as a diesel mechanic to take it up. A trade that is portable (as per other - tool boxes have wheels) is an AWESOME trade. Think also builder/carpenter, electrician, plumber they all offer an easy route to being able to move easily and indeed be paid well, AND if you want to set up your own business. With nearly 250,000 followers you have a BIG channel, and this positive view on getting your hands dirty is needed, so THANKS for prioritising it. Cat getting out of truck engines certainly changed the volume of engines being sold - about 50% of 15L, with about 90% of them being sold in North America. It is now more than 14 years ago and so given that it is now more than the average age of truck in NA the population is certainly getting smaller now. Even with the support the Cat engine operators have give the engine by continuing to keep their Cat powered trucks on the road rather than having newer trucks powered by something else.
Good for you! I recently advised my son to quit a job that was making him miserable. He did quit, and he is now much happier. Best of luck in all your future endeavors.
I found myself in a similar ultimatum where my career as I had known it would come to an end (of nearly 20 years) if I stayed my ground. It was one of the best things that has happened to me. Life changing for the greater, and as I read in another comment, you will soon realize how much you were being held back. Best of luck to you, sir, and I look forward to seeing what you do next.
Congratulations on keeping your integrity and not surrendering to the man. I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to keep up with where you will be working. I'm an OTR driver based out of Chicago area but would consider driving my truck to wherever you are to have motor work done. (Rear structure seal replacement something you might be interested in doing? [Or maybe a ecm fuel leak-not sure which]) As fans we stand behind you and hope to support you as customers in the future
All you wanna do is look towards the future, the past is the past and you can’t live in it. For 15 years, I managed a large truck shop with over 400 pieces of equipment. I left there in 2008 and thank God I did, I have worked for myself and been much happier, the stress level is much smaller. Good luck in your future endeavors.
This is a greasy decision that feels like the product of greasy bean counters being greasy. Your brand is worth more than their BS and they can frankly stuff it. You're a great mechanic and you can take that anywhere, anytime. We're with you, Joshua. We'll watch whatever you do.
In a sense “the man”….wants you to depend on the income that they provide you while working for them…they really don’t want you having that extra UA-cam income while on their clock. Eventually they feel you’ll grow past needing that company’s income
I am from boise idaho, I have 2 trucks one with a c-15 BXS and a 5EK 3406e and I would love to have you work on them when they need it! I actually will need some things looked at on the c-15 sometime in the near future if you would be up for it
You should get a service truck and do your own thing. You are pleanty smart enough to make really good money. I worked for Cat about 10 years been doing my own thing about 4. It would be really hard to go back working for a company again.
John Force had a master crew chief in Austin Coil for decades & decades & decades and then one day, he came in to their shop, collected all his gear & tools & retired from racing leaving John in the lurch. Sometimes you just get your bellyful & have had enough. !
if I had to bet I would say mouther Cat had a hand in there change of heart. it seem's they been going after people sharing free information about Caterpillar stuff since the first of the year.
I understand the struggle I dealt with that during Covid and left to a major city fleet department on fire trucks and its hourly plus OT. Ape your information still helps me even though most of our trucks are Cummins but nonetheless it’s educational for a young diesel tech.
Sorry to hear about this. But truthfully, CAT hasn't put an engine in a truck in close to 20 years now. So you've been fighting a dwindling supply of customers on the fleet end. That being said, the dealership really stepped on themselves here. I'm looking forward to your next step
Your video have given many years of useful information & saved me thousands of dollars. Thank you & good luck with your new venture. I’m a supporter for life. Thank you
Good -- Open your own shop and make mo money, mo headaches, mo security, mo responsibility. You be the Boss and don't have to rely on anybody but yourself. Ask Raymond
Wel'p Josh when you get a minute, listen to "The Ballad Of Jed Clampett" (it's here on youtube & everywhere). I'm pretty sure that just about all of us envision you buying a service truck & heading to OUR town! Videos not only welcomed but will be in high demand from us as you diagnose and repair it all. The sky's the limit lol! Of course you know Arizona is jumping, but gotta get "climatized" the first summer. Texas is 24/7 and "yesterday"; and everywhere else-pretty much the same. Looks like you'll be busy right there for awhile judging by the comments. Cheers!
If it was all "working"... then it was probably the legal team. Liability. Even if you presented none (so far) then they were playing the "what if" and decided against your efforts, even though they did exploit those efforts at one time. The remote chance that you could inadvertently film something that could be used against them... outweighs your wants/needs/happy place.
The time lost setting up cameras and doing the UA-cam thing while at work is the problem. They want your time while on the job to be 100% focused on CAT work, to be as productive as you can as a mechanic for them. Makes a lot of sense. You can't blame the guys who deal with customers and schedule them in for service and repairs, they need work to get done as soon as practical.
A smart company would have leveraged his content to pull work from all 48 states rather than nit picking the 10 percent of time spent on cameras and lighting.
Considering the amount of time it takes to work in truck engines and other heavy equipment, I'm doubtful the time taken to set up a camera is significant. Not to mention people working need to take a breather and think things through from time to time, fitting perfectly with recording as he did. If he was truly wasting time recording he would've been gone years ago. The truth is, the economy is in the toilet and people are digging up reasons to let people go, specially those who are payed well.
You are correct, if you compared a job I filmed vs. didn't film anything, you couldn't tell any difference on the job labor time wise. It was actually quite insignificant the extra 3-5 minutes of filming per day. Easy for me to make that time up, but it's their company and their call. You would think all the jobs that I brought in to the shop would have more than made up for that, but that doesn't seem to matter.
I believe that you can open your own shop and I believe that you’ll have tons of customers from all over the US. We love to watch your educational videos that we learn a lot. Greetings from Texas
Thanks Josh for always helping me! I have been a tech for over 30 years and I know a lot but not everything and you have helped me on more than one occasion so thank you!

Consider moving? Vernal has a sharp Mechanic, oil field has a big need!
Cat has had all people who are employed at dealers etc stop recording and sharing any information. Your the third I've seen in the same situation
This is crazy, Josh! So excited to see where we go from here! I never stop learning from you. Definitely keeping an eye out for these upcoming videos.
My 07 W900L C15 cat NSX just blew a head gasket. It would be really awesome if you could rebuild it. And you could do videos on it while working on it. But I'm in NE Ohio just a little too far away I'm afraid.
Hi if had a question for an long time what other cat engines is simular to the 1674 cat engine
I understand though..these companies may be big, but they can fail if they cant bring business in
Change the title! Not a Cat mechanic site!
Wow, they declared war on right to repair.
@@pootthatbak2578you can keep dreaming lol
All documentation is readily available
I think Cat is following in the Deere tracks - corpo anti-right-to-repair
👏Good job dude! You never move forward with anything unless you grow. Sometimes growing is different and hard, but you got this!
When one door closes another opens. You are an analytical guy, that I know just by watching you diagnose a problem. So leaving Western States will be uncomfortable, it may very well be greatest move for you, your channel and your family. Go for it. Anxious to see you doing repairs again.
I’m sure there are hundreds who will NOT take their trucks in to western just cause Josh leaves
I bought my first truck with a CAT in 2016 and ever since you've saved my ass many times and saved me a ton of money.
We all appreciate everything you do and will be watching no matter what. With the drive and skills you have you'll succeed anywhere.
Ding ding ding - if people know how to fix their own stuff, who's loosing business??
I am a longtime subscriber. I have some CAT equipment. I welcome your return to repair videos as I do all my own work. Now almost every repair (that I haven't done before) starts with a UA-cam video search and view. UA-cam has given me the information and confidence to tackle almost any problem.
I’ve been watching your videos since 2017 and I can easily say you’re a big reason why I enrolled in a diesel tech program this past January…Best of luck in whatever you decide to do next
His videos got me motivated to apply and get hired by a CAT dealer as a tech. Good luck it’s a lot of fun
@@SimonDiesel im a bit older but looking to get out of construction. ALways thought being a diesel mechanic would be a good stable job (i work on my own diesel). im not so good at electrical do you do much of that? Would that hold me back you think?
Can’t wait for your repair videos Josh, hoping for the best!
I think it's very admirable that you're not angry for them letting you go. You are right, they hired a mechanic not a UA-cam show. I wish you the best with this channel. I can't begin to tell you how much you've helped me with your videos. I've watched them over the years and just today decided to subscribe and look at your UA-cam channel. It's funny that I just happened to look today and see that this whole move is happening now. I'm glad you are staying with UA-cam. I'm sorry to admit it's self interest, however I sincerely hope you succeed in your endeavors with this channel. I'm sure you know, us truckers are trying to stay afloat right now. As soon as things get better I plan to make a decent donation for the help you've given and the help I'm sure will continue. By the way I have an 07 w900 c15. Thought you might be curious lol.
On a side note, it was so cool hearing the kids in the background. I'm big on family so I enjoy hearing such things.
Again thank you so much for your help
Right on, Josh. You do you. As someone below said, a mechanic of your caliber and integrity will always be able to make a living. I very much look forward to the positive evolution of your channel.
Some business relationships simply are temporary. Looking forward to your new chapter. You did well by not burning bridges with your former employer.
Nowdays ALL business relationships are temporay, gone are the days that you could look forward to retire from a company.
*All* business relationships are temporary.
Having a trade is a must these days unless you want to constantly get fired right before probationary period is supposed to end. (A lot of places in my area do this.)
They needed to get your wage off their books without firing you, so they said no UA-cam knowing you would leave,
Very good theory. Businesses everywhere of all types "fire" 30 percent of their staff by using what they know about you..best to never tell your boss too much about your personal situations
I agree. Always the wiser to leave the option on the worker to quit.
I don’t think I believe that. He brought in lots of customers, did tons of advertising for them. Even if he was making more than others, what he was doing made up for that in my opinion.
This was probably a decision by their legal department.
Interesting thought, could be.
Or they thought they could get free work out of you after hours.
Thanks Josh for all your Content over the years. Looking forward for more.
You've helped me so much over these years Josh! Thanks and Best of Luck!
Do what you have to do, Josh. Most of us out here are sure you won’t have any problems finding a new employer. You’ve put a lot of heart and soul into this channel. You have a great thing going here. Keep it up. 🙏👍
I'm looking forward to seeing those repair videos. I miss them so much.
Thanks for all the videos over the years! Keep up the great work Josh. Wish you all the best and looking forward to more great repair content!
Good for you! I recently advised my son to quit a job that was making him miserable. He did quit, and he is now much happier. Best of luck in all your future endeavors.
Best of luck, Josh...I look forward to seeing what you have planned for the future.
Can't wait to see what you have for us thanks for all your hard work in making great videos for us to watch and learn by
Congratulations on keeping your integrity and not surrendering to the man.
I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to keep up with where you will be working. I'm an OTR driver based out of Chicago area but would consider driving my truck to wherever you are to have motor work done. (Rear structure seal replacement something you might be interested in doing? [Or maybe a ecm fuel leak-not sure which])
As fans we stand behind you and hope to support you as customers in the future
Doors open doors close. You will end up in a better position in life. Good luck. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for you and the channel. Best of luck, sir!
I admire you even more, always do what’s best for you
All you wanna do is look towards the future, the past is the past and you can’t live in it. For 15 years, I managed a large truck shop with over 400 pieces of equipment. I left there in 2008 and thank God I did, I have worked for myself and been much happier, the stress level is much smaller. Good luck in your future endeavors.
GOOD FOR YOU ,CHASE THAT PAPER BROTHER!.love from Greeley Co
Can't wait to see what happens next. Thanks for everything you do Josh. Looking forward to the new. Best of luck.
Good luck going forward Josh, looking forward to your new direction.
Love your videos!
This is a greasy decision that feels like the product of greasy bean counters being greasy. Your brand is worth more than their BS and they can frankly stuff it. You're a great mechanic and you can take that anywhere, anytime. We're with you, Joshua. We'll watch whatever you do.
Sorry to here that Josh but as long as you happy go for it👍
Good luck with all your future endeavers, Josh. I will still be here watching and learning. Thanks for all you do.
Always been a big fan of channel! Keep making the best content and support will flow in abundance
I actually will need some things looked at on the c-15 sometime in the near future if you would be up for it
dude this great news. I've already learned so much about diesels from your channel. this channel is going to be huge.
You’re gonna do great! All your videos are invaluable, appreciate all you do! Looking forward to what’s next
Time for your own shop. At this point, you’ll be turning away customers. They did you a favor. It’s a blessing in disguise.
You should get a service truck and do your own thing. You are pleanty smart enough to make really good money.
I worked for Cat about 10 years been doing my own thing about 4. It would be really hard to go back working for a company again.
Best of luck moving forward, and I am excited for what the future holds for the channel!
Keep it up! Absolutely love your in depth content.
John Force had a master crew chief in Austin Coil for decades & decades & decades and then one day, he came in to their
shop, collected all his gear & tools & retired from racing leaving John in the lurch.
Sometimes you just get your bellyful & have had enough.
!
Correctamondo.....Austin was not being remunerated to the level he brought to John's operation. Period.
if I had to bet I would say mouther Cat had a hand in there change of heart. it seem's they been going after people sharing free information about Caterpillar stuff since the first of the year.
keep up the good work
Iv noticed this too. A big page on ig caterpillar wrenching got shut down. Seem to be cracking down
i been watching your videos for awhile thank you for the information and knowledge you continue to give to all of us
Good for you 👍🏾 we who watch your content truly appreciate the value your channel represents.
Good sir, thank you for all your insight and knowledge sharing. It has been greatly appreciated by all of us in the community.
Cheers!
Josh, good for you. My best wishes in all the changes you’re making. Always loved your content.
I’m glad I found your channel, you’ve helped me a lot with my 3406e. 👍🏾
Correct
Wow its literally been 9 years since i started working on trucks and ive been watching your videos the whole way! Cheers to the future!
I believe that you can open your own shop and I believe that you’ll have tons of customers from all over the US.
We love to watch your educational videos that we learn a lot.
Greetings from Texas
Keep em coming Josh! All the best wishes for the new shop!
Best of luck, Josh ! Looking forward to your next chapter and diesel repair adventures !
Thank you for all your content man. Youve been very helpful throughout these years. Keep on wrenching!
Well, I'm glad you're good with this big change and I'm glad we will still see you here. Really enjoy your stuff, brother.
Best of luck, looking forward to all the new videos.
Thanks Josh for always helping me! I have been a tech for over 30 years and I know a lot but not everything and you have helped me on more than one occasion so thank you!
I have always enjoyed watching you troubleshoot and do repairs on Cat engines .
Wishing you the best on your new adventure Josh .

Glad your going back to the repair videos. That’s why i watch.
Glad your following what your passionate about.
Your channel was an inspiring part in my choice to go through think big and be a fellow cat diesel mechanic. In any path you take you will be continuing to inspire people and I look forward to all future content. You do you homie you good people.
Love your work brother. I've learned a ton from this channel, all the way from South Africa. That's how important your impact is, global.
Josh, I sincerely hope that your new endeavor is successful. I know UA-cam viewers will certainly be happy that you're not leaving us as well. Best of luck with all things in the future.
Ah man, sorry to hear that! Your videos have provided me lots of information for my truck. Wish you all the success.
Been watching your videos here and there over the years I just subscribed wish you the best in your new endeavor and can’t wait to watch the new episodes👍
We’ll keep watching and wish you well on your next endeavor
