God... how amazing is this. Could you imagine how much better this would have been than the version they went with for the movie? Very frustrating to see this being so amazing! The actors are clearly very capable singers (their voices are amazing omg) and love their roles (they're so enthousiastic, totally the mungojerrie and rumpleteazer vibes the role needs), it's such a shame that the version they put in the movie was so bland when the actors are clearly capable of doing such an amazing job with the song
Actually, the one they used in the 2019 movie is a version of the original version of this song! It’s in the 1981 album on Spotify I’d recommend checking it out because the movie version doesn’t do it justice AT ALL no surprise there 🙄
I personally prefer the original version as it gives us a more 'sneaky' feel and a jazzy style which also transitions quite well to Macavity as we can hear how Mungojerrie is mentioned in the songs of Macavity. Although the current versions give us a better feel towards the mischievous cat couple, I personally believe that they deserve to have a bit more serious and slightly intimidating song.
What "new" version? If you're talking about the horrible 2019 movie, that's actually based on the original 1981 version, so... you'd like the old version better.
