The actress is Northern Irish, so that’s just her natural accent. It was a direction from the production team for her to speak with her own accent.

I know that it's supposed to be the original london cast version of the song but the version we're used to is way more iconic
I donno, as someone who listens to the songs mostly on Spotify, from the original London recording, I genuinely think it's just a matter of which version you're more used to.
Even then, this version is also way worse than the original version, it sounds so stilted here
I love the London version, it just flows so smoothly. Dunno why Mistoffollees sings it in the Broadway version. The third version is nicer, the chaos suits the characters. it's a shame they cut half the song in the 98 movie.

I've only gotten myself to watch this scene in full exactly one time. Funny enough, I watched this scene to try and give the movie a chance because this is my favorite number. You can imagine how that went.

The scale of the cats is wrong in the entire movie. One thing I think that made this film so visually unpleasant and uncomfortable.

To everyone bashing the song's tune, it's actually the very first version of it from the London productions...I found including it to be a neat callback, though it WAS jarring, admittedly, being used to the version everyone uses now.
Well then maybe there was a reason this was the “first version” and never used

These actors did the best they could and their vocals are great it’s just they didn’t pick the better version of the song and the cgi is uncanny
I really wanted to hate this version of the song because I'm so accustomed to the one we all know (from Cats 1998, used in most modern productions now), but, honestly... I actually like this version quite a bit. Hate Cats 2019, but I like the tempo to this version, and the sort of "old-timey London criminal" vibe this gives off. I think it suits the characters well. Makes sense that this isn't objectively terrible, since I guess this was the original version of the song.

I hadn't seen or listened to anything from 'Cats' until today; I've watched 4 numbers from the 1998 stage film, and this is the 2nd I've watched from the movie. This will probably get me yelled at, but I prefer this version of this song, I like the vibe better. And from what I've read in YT comments, this is how the song originally was anyway. The complaints I've read about this movie sound very valid to me even without knowing much about 'Cats', but I have to disagree with this 1 common complaint I'm seeing.

Yeah, this version of the song is actually not bad, I enjoy it as much as the more playful one. I just dont like the movies version because of the interuptions, which is probably a me problem because I dont see anybody talking about it.

What I love most about this version of Cats are Andrew Lloyd Webber finally finding the actress who is both a Classical Prima Ballerina, like Victoria and a Lyrical Prima Donna, like Jemima, aka Syllabub and Victoria's very own song to go with her backstory.

The musical is fantastic, easily one of my all time favorites.
This movie, well ... To be fair, I haven't watched the whole thing, just the songs and some reviews/critiques. Some of the songs are decent and the CGI for the most part isn't nearly as eye-meltingly horrendous in my opinion as people make it out to be, but eh, I'll stick with the 1998 film myself.
tbh the only thing I loved was the skimbleshanks song in the movie, the tap dancing addition was great although the sudden pause ruined the vibe a bit but either way I loved it.

@@maltesers1238Then it was clearly a direction from the production team for her to use her native accent, not an actors choice. I’ve worked with Naoimh Morgan (Rumpleteazer) and trust me, the woman can do anything and any accent, she’s amazing.

Bc it is. While most of the movie is terrible, this stands out as pretty alright. But the 1998 version is REALLY popular, and Broadway fans are pretty avidly anti-new things. So this interpretation being contrary to the popular version gets it flak.
