    This is a Porsche 911 restoration that was abandoned in 1994 after being converted to a race car. My plan is a twin turbo Subaru EZ30 porsche engine swap with 400+ HP to the wheels. Stay tuned.

    Michael,you do nice work that is a massive undertaking. In the past I have had the whole car I was working on blasted , it’s at that point when you see everything and ask you self what did I get into..stay positive

      @rennch.  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, this car started with me blasting it. That's how we revealed all the rust.

      @@rennch. Just think of all the hours at a standard $350/hr. shop rate for a complete resto job like this... 😛 As my dad would have said, "It's enough to piss off the pope!" 😂 With your time and effort, you are rebuilding the car better than the factory did.

    This is phenomenal for you being what you claim as a novice in a beginner I mean what you’re doing and how you’re doing it is very telling an extremely instructional! I’m gonna play the same tactics and techniques to a vehicle that I’m restoring myself. Thank you so much for sharing not only your successes, but your learning curve, because it allows us not to make the same sort of mistakes in the progression towards success.!!🙏🙏👏👏👏

      Well...I said I'd not done this before. But I'm not a beginner. :)

    love your work/videos! with all the welding in of those body panels why not invest in a spot welder? it would save you sooooo much work and time

    Amazing to see how the inner rockers all fold together, isn't it? Nice work...

    The original car was hot dip galvanized but didn't prevent this mess. You are putting a massive amount of work into this project, I was wondering what type of rust protection you intend using - Really nice work by the way.

    • @rennch.
      @rennch.  Рік тому +1

      Thank you. This car actually was not galvanized from the factory. Those were a slightly later model.

      @@rennch. Appreciate the reply - well that’s a bugger. So do you have a plan for rust prevention?

    • @rennch.
      @rennch.  Рік тому +2

      Yea, I'm encasing everything in a rust preventative while I do it.

    It’s gonna be more and more important for all of us car enthusiasts to restore our cars whether it be mechanically or like what are you doing? Fixing all the rust and everything keep these cars on the road they are irreplaceable now.

    Nice job! Since I am curious, was this screw put into inner rocker pipe left inside?

      No sir. I pulled it and then welded the hole.

    Great work! I'm picking up a titled roller 240z that's pretty rusty, so this is good inspiration. Save 'em! Also, how were you making some welds with a clear face mask?

    • @rennch.
      @rennch.  Рік тому

      It's a little trick I picked up from Fitzee. You use the welding tip to "mask" the flash. Ii just do it for quick tacks

    I couldn't even see the dot on your camera that you kept talking about. Maybe it's only visible in 4K or something. I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

    Are ALL the panels / body parts available. Could you just make a new body on a jig rather than cutting and welding everything?

    • @rennch.
      @rennch.  Рік тому +1

      Not quite yet but restoration design is working on it.

      If they could remake the right hand drive dash panel and trunk floor that would be a huge win!
