    I'll try to provide my experience as I go along if it helps others, but started having issues OUT OF NOWHERE three years ago, where I would wake up pretty much shaking, with neck, throat, and jaw pain. Fast forward to today, and I've been through it all, physical therapy, mouth guards, etc., and I'm finally getting my upper palate expanded, as we suspect that it's due to lack of room in my mouth for my tongue, tongue posture, and possibly bite. Will try to update if and when symptoms eventually fade. (I've spent WAY too much money on this, so if I can help other people NOT do that, I totally will.) Dr. Mistry, I appreciate the knowledge, and the awareness you're bringing to thing life-altering condition.

    I had ALL that except for the popping jaw..Imostly on left side...I do get nervous and clench facial muscles, and it came during a high estrogen "situation" but doctor saw no signs of TMJ in an full xray /scan. I think it may be TN which is scarier

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  Рік тому +1

      TMJ problems will not show up in a full xray/scan, especially if the pain and dysfunction are coming from the muscles.

    What If I I’ve had every symptom of TMD down to the temple pain/headaches/dizziness/jaw pain especially while eating/neck pain but I had a mri last year and my joints were normal. Eventually symptoms got better with chiropractic/massage visits but now this year all my symptoms are back in full effect. Could it be something similar like myofascial pain syndrome or does an mri itself determine that you have TMD.

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  9 місяців тому

      The pain and dizziness is usually due to muscle spasm/dysfunction which cannot be visualized or seen on imaging.

    Hi! I have all those symptoms literally! Almost daily. I sent a message to your clinic. I’m going to be in New Mexico for new years and plan to be in Florida for valentines but maybe I can make a trip to port Angeles again around 4th of July to be closer to Vancouver to come see you. But your clinic is asking for 200 dollars is that correct? Just want to make sure before I send the money

    I had already for longer time on and off shoulder and neck pain and Tinnitus. Now I got tension on and of in my face and pain around my ears and like above my eyebrows but also my hearing became very muffled. They tested my hearing but the audiogram was good can TMJ really mess up with your hearing and the Tinnitus ? Because my Tinnitus is also worse now and I feel like I am short of breath

    Can TMJ cause breathing difficulties too?

    • @TheNoepje
      @TheNoepje Рік тому +1

      Yes it can!!! I've done some thorough research and it even says so on some information websites. The tmjd specialists (they're called dentist gnatologists here in Europe) didnt know much about this symptom. But I have it. And it's been pretty severe before I started seeing a speech therapist who does larynx massages and excersises to relief throat tension. Even a hoarse voice can be a tmjd symptom!! Just because those throat muscles tense up! My gp said it was oesphagus spasms, then gastrointestinal specialist said it was silent GERD, I even ended up on the ER cause I felt my throat closing up and I do have severe allergies. But they couldn't see anything wrong. I was told it's just hyperventilation. Well.. Never have I ever had issues with hyperventilating. I was told it's prob stress. Which I also don't agree with. Cause I'm leading a pretty good life, minus the tmjd. Is tmjd now wrecking my life? Yes. And is it stressful? Yes. But this all started after a root canal treatment that went a little wrong, and pulling a healthy upper molar to make room for a very impacted wisdom tooth that still sits there and no jaw surgeon is willing to touch. I've never been tmjd free since that moment.
      But yeah.. It can def cause breathing issues. It says so online as well. It's scary. But it can be treated

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  Рік тому +1

      Typically it's breathing issues that cause TMD, not the other way around.

    Can you discuss how tmjd causes ear ringing?

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  Рік тому +1

      the exact mechanism is largely unknown. All that is known is that there is a correlation. Ear ringing also doesn't respond predictably to TMD treatment unfortunately.

    • @farawayfaerie8829
      @farawayfaerie8829 Рік тому

      @theTMJdoc is it possible that one mechanism can be the muscles of the face? I've had sharp pain in my right masseter muscle with a simultaneous ring in my right ear, that stopped when the sharp pain stopped.
