      I was literally about to comment. I used this stuff on a wood table I finished with some polyacrylic. It worked out so well haha. I work at an advance auto and I sell this stuff to people constantly. About 70% of them use it on everything that's not a car more often. Tables. Old tools. You name it haha. The polish that they make is also some of the best stuff ever! :D

      @@jankindl915 You ever compounded a car before? Let's say you bought yourself a really nice 4 year old keeper that the previous owner never took care of. You go ahead and applied a m105 and finished off with a m205 then a nice wax. You take it to the car wash like most everyone does then low and behold it's full of scratches. What do you do now? Compound it again? In most cases the least abrasive method will always be the best option if you plan to keep the car for a long time.

    I'm the biggest asshole when it comes to reviewing a product. I used it on a 6-year-old dark blue Ford pickup truck that sits outside in the scalding hot Texas sun exposed to approximately 55 inches of rain each year and 90 to not at all unusual 100 degree days. I had water spots on top of water spots. I once tried a clay bar and yeah it worked to some degree but it would have taken a ridiculously long time to do the entire vehicle. I literally think it would have taken several days assuming my hands could hold up to that much work. Watched your video, bought a cheap $45 buffer, and gave it a try. Amazing product. Got every last water stain out. I was 100% pleased with the results! Thanks for posting this video!

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  3 роки тому +1

      You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching 👍🏻, don’t forget to give it some wax to protect the work. Also, there is a new product by turtle wax, it’s called “one and done graphene compound” I detailed a black Mercedes with it (video is on the channel) and it’s superb, in my opinion it is superior to the meguiars stuff as it has no fillers👍🏻

      @@DaveRebuilds Thank you. I literally did it yesterday and need to buy wax today. I'll check it out. Kind of funny, I'm sixty years old and not much of a car guy anymore. I just see a vehicle as getting me from point A to B. I can remember in my youth I had a black Cutlass Supreme and any time I waxed it I would often go back outside the same day just to admire my work. Ha, I was doing the same thing yesterday. • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  2 роки тому +1

      You’re very welcome, thanks for watching! So….if you’ve never protected/detailed it before, I’d start out by giving it a proper wash with a non wax based shampoo (meguiars do a good one), then use a clay bar to remove any really stuck on contaminants (I have a video on how to use one), dry the car down then use the compound to remove the swirls etc then yes, you can just put a protective coat over top. Best practice would be to use a polish after the compound to remove the final 1% of super light swirls caused by the compound, but it’s not necessary unless it’s a show car standard you’re looking for.
      Another incredible compound (again, have a video using it on an old Mercedes’) is turtle wax “one&done” graphene compound which acts as both a compound and polish 👍🏻
      Hope that helps 😃

      Rubbernut 1975 it’s not bad as a starter DA to be honest, I used mine for over a year before it started to “fail” and even at that, it’s only the speed control that sticks now and then. Quite a sturdy built little machine for £80-£90. Plus, you can get halford DA pads that are really simple to understand: brown - really rough compounding, yellow - medium (great with ultimate compound) and black - polish or on a slow speed can be used for applying wax.
      Check out the other video I did last week using ultimate compound and polish if you want to see how good meguiars polish is👍🏻

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  2 роки тому

      Thank you 👍🏻, so you can buy applicator pads in different strengths, depending on how deep the scratches are. I know turtle wax and a company called lake country do excellent pads. I wouldn’t recommend a sponge as it’s too soft, microfibre towels are quite good, the tricky part is ensuring even pressure across the face of it when rubbing, so definitely go with a pad if you can!

      if its light scratches, i would try the least aggressive pad you can first, and then move to more aggressive if it doesn't work. last thing you want to do (especially on black paint) is go in aggressive to start with and make it worse :) if it's just swirl marks you are tryign to remove, maybe try a polish first and then move to a compound if the polish doesn't get the results. hope that helps

      Stuart Sinclair swirl marks are essentially micro scratches in the top coat of the paint. They aren’t usually very noticeable on lighter colours e.g. white, but are super obvious in sunlight on dark colours particularly black paintwork.👍🏻

There is a light scratches white one available too -- www.slimsdetailing.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=hand+applicator or similar packs like this Poorboys one - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Poorboy-s-World-Foam-Hand-Polish-Applicator-Pad-Detailing-Pad/153695206482

      Yeah, you need to do it when the paint is cold, the polish will bake on if the paint is warm/hot and is really tricky to get off again 👍🏻

    I’ve been using this and their finishing polish. Done in 3 stages of foam pads. I painted numerous Harleys and color sanded to 3000 grit and polished with the Meguiar’s. I’ve won best paint at numerous shows using only Meguiar’s and not 3-4 different “pro” brands products.

      That’s awesome dude! Thanks for sharing👍🏻. Do you use any of the more “pro” level meguiars polishes? Or is it just the consumer stuff like ultimate compound?

    • @deegan727
      @deegan727 2 роки тому

      @@DaveRebuilds I haven’t tried their pro stuff. I think I’ve gotten lucky by stumbling upon the consumer stuff before trying too many other products. At the price this sells for and the results I feel there’s little reason to try expensive stuff. I will be trying Ceram-X that Tamco paint products sells. I’ll be using several of their products when painting my truck soon and figure I might as well try the polish. It’s supposed to be really good. I’ll try it, if I don’t like it i have plenty of Meguiars.

      Try Rupes compounds instead dude they don’t contain fillers and will remove all the scratches! Use the yellow lid polish first, then the white lid Rupes and it’ll look like glass when you are done 👍🏻

      Hi, this stuff you can use over and over, it’s not a heavy compound 👍🏻, it does contain fillers tho so once you have used it, be sure to wipe the panel with an IPA (isopropyl alcohol) to make sure the scratch is properly removed before using a wax 😃

    Quick Question if anyone can help. My paint is barely at the point for compound. I'm waiting until summer is over and using the ultimate compound then polish. I live in an apartment complex so using my buffer comfortably is almost impossible. Since my paint isn't trashed can I use the compound by hand? Or am I wasting my time and need to find a way to use the buffer? To save time one way or the other isn't my concern. The results are all I care about. Thanks in advance

    • @DaveRebuilds

      Hi, sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. So yeah, you can do it by hand, the results might not be quite as good but you will def get a good result either way! If you are looking for a fantastic polish, I did a video where I detailed a Mercedes eclass using turtle wax new “one and done” graphene compound, the result was incredible and actually better than the meguiars compound if you want an alternative? Again, it can be applied by hand or polisher! Hope that helps 😃👍🏻

    I have some small scratches on my car that I want to try to repair myself. I have never done it before. I am trying to find some things online here to show me how. This looks ok. I am going to rewatch and look into this more. Is this compound a type of car wax? If this isn’t a wax, why do people wax their cars? Thank you sincerely! - Michal

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  Рік тому

      Hi, no, it’s not a wax, it’s a compound/polish, it has abrasives in it, designed to flatten the top coat of your paint to smooth out scratches. Wax is a protective layer you put on the paint after using a compound/polish to make it look super shiny 😃👍🏻

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  2 роки тому +1

      Unless you know how to use a rotary polisher I’d suggest sticking with a DA (dual action) as you can really make a mess of paint with a rotary if you don’t know how to use it 👍🏻
