The Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 is a rare beast, having only been produced for two models years (1976-1977). As such, you may never have heard of it. So what is a Carrera 3.0, what is its spec, and how does it drive in comparison to other 911s from the impact bumper era?
Thanks to the team at Philip Raby for the drive and opportunity to take part in snagging of this recently-restored Carrera 3.0 Targa. Speak to Phil or Will regarding their restorations: philipraby.co.uk/

I have a 1977 Carrera that was imported back to the USA in the 1980s
Your assessment of the vehicles driving characteristics are spot on
I’m lucky enough to own A few air cooled Porsches the 1977 is my favorite
Raw and fun
Please keep this content coming.
Great Review Lee.
About time the C3 has been reviewed properly in length. It deserves more credit than what it’s given. There certainly different than a 2.7 and an SC and 3.2, I can attest to this as I have owned one for 2 years and a well sorted C3 like the one reviewed are amazing to drive and much more responsive due to the different Cam and light 6 bolt flywheel and weight . I own a 1976 Australian delivered coupe. Other differences from 76 to the 77, the 77 got an omega spring for the clutch and power assited brakes. 76 Being I think a little more raw than a 77 and a little more rare in numbers, either way the owner of that vehicle is a lucky Chap as you Brits say😁. Bar an MFI 2.7 G body and maybe a distant 1976 turbo 930 which I’ve been fortunate to drive in anger, the Carrera 3.0 is a Gem, a sleeper whicj will only go North in value, as MFIs and 930 Turbos are insanely expensive. Ohh also regarding restoration spot on, once you start
It’s like opening a can of worms, minimum 100k-200k Australian dollars, parts and labour in that cost.
Best
Frank
Great video thanks.
I find impact bumper cars
the best looking.
I would not have bored with all that extra nerdy information you said you left out😅
Hahahaha, it gets far more nerdy than that, trust me!
Bring on the nerdy facts
My Dad's car in Hong Kong, he was a big Porsche fan. I still have his Porsche book collection.
Wonderful review.
Thanks Lee. Lovely car!❤
I have a 77 3.0 that I've restored
Love it
Thank you that was brilliant 👍
Hans Mezger owned a Grand Prix White Carrera 3.0 Coupe until his passing
Brilliant video on this niche model, thanks Lee!

Wow! Love these!

Love the Targa Lee pity we dont have the weather to take advantage of the format.
Another informative video Lee.....
Thank you!
Great Video Lee - really Interesting - I must admit to turning into a Porsche Fanboy :)
I was fortunate enough to own a 77 Carrera 3. Fun car
I had a 77 Carrera 3.0 wonderful car. Wish I still had it. But you can't keep them all I suppose.
Coolest Channel..
Aircoolest ☝🏼
7:05 Temperature sensor
Pay attention at the back….
Don't forget to indicate when you overtake someone...
Is that honestly your contribution to the video?! Christ.
A font of knowledge, as ever, Mr Sibley - great video!
