I heard this song before Orange Is The New Black. I loved it from the first note.
Oh wow, who would've thought to do a music video of people doing interpretive dance... like 5 years after it was the trend...? There's boring and then there's ideas that make boredom seem like real adventure. This is one of those songs, and this is also one of those videos. Your entire sound and image is like taking a paper cup to be appraised at the Antique Roadshow.
Try something more engaging. It doesn't have to be electronic, but you certainly shouldn't be the face of Bubbling Under indie elevator music in 2017. The plain Jane, stripped down Americana movement has been and died and no one really noticed because it wasn't all that substantive or creative to begin with.
Wilsen is dreaming, beauty in simplicity, relaxing. I really appreciate the dance act on the video. All this makes me feel good and happy. Bands such as Wilsen and Daughter are a pleasant breeze in today's pop scene. Your bloated talk doesn't impress me at all. I'm not interested in classification of styles, trends, whatever.
Daughter is a completely different story. Daughter isn't stale folk music. Much like Mt. Wolf, Daughter is very much about sound reverberating emotion and experience. Wilsen, however, is just tired folk music. There's literally nothing she's doing that hasn't been done by any of 10,000 overlooked people strumming guitars and hoping people think they're deep. Wilsen and Daughter are just not on the same level musically or creatively.
One day, the members of the group Daughter were driving in a car. It was Wilsen on the radio. They were very enthusiastic about it. There is a connection between them. Listen to Anahita.

It’s not to the same level of Daughter but it’s simple and relaxing but there’s something to it as well it’s beautiful as well. I wouldn’t say boring by a long shot. The whistling is unique and works well. I also don’t think you can give a hard time about the video. The trends done and dusted so you can’t call this as following the trend if it doesn’t exist anymore
