+Touching Things I don't know people are writing this off too soon. If it's mouthwash with alcohol and you have residue in your mouth I see no reason why it shouldn't consider you drunk. The machine doesn't know.

You cannot trick a REAL breathalyzer ( for example 5000EN model). What they are using in this video is called a PBT (Preliminary Breath Test) which is inadmissible in court. The PBT is used in the field to help the officer to determine if there is PROBABLE CAUSE to make an arrest for DUI (along with Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) which include the walk and turn, one leg stand and Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus). The Intoxilyzer 5000EN series requires that the person undergo a 20 minute observation period to make sure there is no "mouth alcohol" present before blowing into the instrument. If mouth alcohol is present the instrument recognizes that and invalidates the sample. Also, some people think if they blow very lightly or "act like they are blowing" that they can beat it. The instrument detects this and in fact will not let the sample be introduced until there is a sufficient PROLONGED force of air being blown that analyzes "deep lung" air. Putting copper pennies in your mouth does nothing either ( except give you a bad taste in your mouth). Trying to circumvent the test using the above or any other methods can in fact result in a "refusal to cooperate" with testing which results in license revocation along with still being prosecuted. Refusing to cooperate with testing gets your license revoked EVEN if you are later acquitted of the DUI. I speak from experience as a prior DUI Enforcement Officer and State Certified 5000EN and SFST Instructor with the Colorado Springs Police Department. Don't Drink and Drive.... Please

2. any attempts to fake won't be recorded
3. you can get punished for trying to fake
4. trying to put pennies will do nothing (as was already said in the video)
Please promise me that you punished only people that were actually dangerous to other people on the road. Like... if someone is drunk on a road in the middle of nowhere with absolutely zero traffic you told him to sleep it off or something. Don't be... THAT guy.
You are partially right. However even the intoxilizer is calibrated with ethyl alcohol at 36 degree Celsius to simulate the temperature of the breath. By lowering the temperature of your breath and in turn the temperature of sample going into the cell, the device will not be accurate because it is calibrated at 36°Celsius . As a former breath tech, you should know this. However, given the 15 minute wait for mouth alcohol to dissipate, it would be impossible to get an ice cube in your mouth to lower your breath temperature.

Heh, Greg's recommendation of 0,03% to be punishable by law is what the limit actually is in my country. However 0,03 will get you fined but 0,05 is what will make you lose your driver's license for a few months. Not actually sure at what point you get jailed.

Try 0.15+ before u can call urself properly drunk. I've been to 0.25+ felt like i was about to die tbh and that was a few years ago at graduation, havent touched alcohol since then. So yeah, if anyone with common sense thinks drinking is a good idea, get them to 0.25+ and watch them never touch a drink again afterwards.
I get that drunk on a weekly basis...
I'm Polish so, according to stereotypes, I might be more resistant to alcohol, but I know a lot of people, myself included, who went over or double that dose (according to online calculators), felt fine (not sober, but didn't feel bad) and didn't quit alcohol.
A lot of factors influence how you feel when intoxicated. For example, taking medication (which should never be mixed with booze for a lot of other reasons), drinking on an empty stomach or changing your position (e.g. lying down or standing up abruptly), can all cause you to feel terrible after drinking less alcohol than you could otherwise ingest and feel okay.
Just to clarify, I'm not promoting drinking alcohol here. If you don't like it, that's your choice and right. Just saying, different people have different reactions to it. Responsible drinking, to me, means knowing when to stop drinking and stopping there. You have to learn your limits and your body's signs that you've had enough.
It's still not healthy, I'm not gonna argue with that, but that's obvious and taught in detail to most people even remotely close to the legal drinking age. It's a stupid choice a lot of us like to make from time to time to feel happy, silly and distanced from everything stressful and complicated. A shortcut to having unburdened fun for a while.

The sample size for all of your experiments is 1. How can you call it science?

It's still an experiment, though you are right you cannot generalise the finding as there are only 2 people but it would still count as an experiment.

the cheap ones? yess often they are and the biggest problem is that you can't calibrate them. There are some really good ones though, problem is they are really expensive.
But still cheaper than a DUI probably.
