easily one of the most jarring assassinations in the trilogy; normally stuff like this at least gets a little mini-cutscene with letterboxing or a cinematic shot, but with this you just get a seamless and incredibly sudden strike that wouldn't be out of place in an earlier game

That shot is just to break the glass window so I can climb up the stair and bypass the two guards below, the fat guy would just resume to his normal routine regardless.

Go with it. Game logic is a puzzle to navigate. It is not meant to be realistic.
