    I've used my gator grip for years on every type of fastener you can imagine and it's been one of my go-to tools. Lives in my truck toolkit and has earned my trust!

    I have that hex a matic laying around in my shop. It was Grandfathers, and always thought it was some sort of gimmick. After watching your video, it appears to be rather well designed, and well made. Thanks

    Why didn't they make those round pins hexagonal and it would help resolve a lot of the issues with the round pins?

    I bought the Stanley Hex-A-Matic a long, long time ago. I never could get it to work for me so I just use my nut drivers. I also never could figure out what the spinner ring was for. I will say this though, it is a very well made tool.

    The Gator Socket is one of the best designed tools I have ever had. Despite having full sets of SAE & Metric sockets, this is the one you want to have in your car or your hammer belt. Take care of it and it will last forever. It is also very good for removing a bolt with a rusted or damaged head, with rounded corners. Brilliant design. This from a fellow life long tool-junkie. The first one of these I bought was a T handle model, it saw a lot of use in the factory I was running.

      The problem is the hex socket cannot grip onto the hex bolt because it has been rounded off,
      will the Gator Socket work, I mean the bolt is 18mm, but it won't loosen without a good grip, the 18mm socket is only sliding not gripping or loosening.

    For that first one (or any of them really) how much torque would you need to bend and destroy the pins? Looks like an amazing idea, but I'd be concerned about longevity.

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  5 років тому +5

      The biggest issue with the socket is a deep well length socket but only works on short Fasteners the pins themselves or extremely hard the bigger issue would be corrosion and then getting jammed up I think that if you put enough pressure to actually damage a pin you would just split the wall the socket

      Harbor Freight has a Maddox set of security lug nut sockets that might work. Using the gator grip socket may or may not work it's kind of hit and miss when it comes to you odd shapes and splines whether or not the socket pins will line up well enough for it to remove the fastener. And in a lug nut situation the socket maybe way too large a diameter to fit down into any wheel recesses.

    Orta göbekteki altı köşe pim plastik ve dibe doğru çok ince bir uzantısı varArıza verdi.Tekrar kendim yapıştırma ile eski haline getirdim.Güzel bir anahtar harikasına niçin böyle sürekli baskı hareketi alan parça plastik yapılmış?Anlamakta zorlanıyorum.İşlevine söz yok.Mutlak çok yönlü faydalı bir alet.Kendim aldım.İş düşmediği için müzelik silah gibi çantada duruyor.

    I have seen actual testing of universal sockets where pins would not drop down after a few uses, pins started falling out after a while and it was not effective at turning under load. You showed us but did not demonstrate,,,thanks anyway but will look elsewhere

    I work all things from phones to car engens. I'm thinking about replacing all my non deep sockets with a gator grip. All my sockets are mostly cheep kamart crap. Would you disavise on this ? Whats the max tork it can handle ?

    • @sloan4778
      @sloan4778 4 роки тому

      No need to commit to replacing all your lesser crap. It is not very expensive, but it and I suspect you will make your own decision quite quickly.

    • @kindledninja
      @kindledninja 4 роки тому +1

      DO NOT REPLACE WITH GATOR GRIP.
      At best, it will tear itself apart before causing any damage to the bolt or nut. Rough estimate is from 60-90 foot-pounds before breaking if you're lucky. And even if you avoid exposing it to that high torque, it will last through maybe 40 uses with 40-50 ft-lbs. Socket sets are sometimes a hassle to carry around, but there's a reason you don't see mechanics, or anyone else, using them. They're unreliable and a hazard to whatever bolt or nut it's being used on.
