3:56 correction Neil, it's 160mm dropper seatpost while being quite a bit shorter than other brands 150mm models. That's because it lacks the floating piston which separates oil and air in the common designs. Eliminates common failure point. And you're right, the actuation is sooo smooooth..
Pretty cool to hear the Stumpy was raced slalom and EWS!! I bought a carbon comp 29'er a year ago as a 'do it all' bike that's super versatile and upgradeable, a trail bike at heart, but an aggressive one that could handle chunkier stuff. It certainly hasn't disappointed. I absolutely love the bike. People see a Stumpjumper on the trails and assume its 'just a trail bike', but I really disagree, its a fantastic option for those in the UK limited to one bike if you aren't just doing blacks at BPW or Dyfi every weekend its a great option. Its very light, very tough, has pretty aggressive geometry for a trail bike and as Jared is proving can handle some varied challenges! To top it off, the carbon comp comes with a FACT11M frame! Whats not to like!
Nice to meet you last Tuesday in WHBPark, cool picture we took all together. The benefits are lightest , just for the weight. I think Jared mentioned it in another video. I am going for the sImilar setting: Cassette/Chain XX1 with Shifter/Rear Mech Simano XT - Just during summer.
I've actually run this type setup for a few years on XC bikes. Someone I know gave the idea, but basically it comes to preferring shimano shifting but you still get the benefit of the 10-tooth cog on the high end XD sram cassettes and the lighter weight. The cassettes also last significantly longer than shimano ones when you take care of them. And yeah sram chain. Best shifting is when you match the chain and cassette brand :)
He did do size of brake disk. As far as wheelbase, head angle, type of carbon and other questions of that type, why ask questions that anyone who wants to know can just google - they are all on specs website, instead of wasting time asking these questions ask questions that are specific to Jared - like he did.
Krigloch theFurious You wont regret it. I have a 2019 Stumpjumper ST and put it in this past week. Just used it today and wow what a difference. Very smooth and user friendly.
Got a long travel stumpy expert. Already swapped the crank for Stylo carbons, got a nukeproof carbon bar as well. Next is those MT5s (bang for the $$) and some better/lighter rubber. Not digging this Butcher too much. For being such a nobby tire, it sure likes to slide in lose terrain.
Great bike , rides smooth ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing
Finn Cable Perhaps the idea of a single sided strut came from that bike sure. But on the demo 8 that was implemented in a totally different way. Now just look at a rallon in the mirror and you'll get this new one for about 90%. Still a copy if you ask me. If you disagree that's ok by me, everybody is entitled to their own opinion.
Baziell yes I agree the bikes do look extremely similar and do see and partially agree with your opinion. However I do question this as even the the new Stumpjumper looks very similar to the rallon and not very to the demo, I would argue that it is not a copy of the rallon and even if the bike was designed in complete isolation to other brands bikes would look very very similar to the actual stumpy as it is simply a trail bikes interpretation and trail bikes kinematical design of the demo 8 idea
Bb height is a bit higher on the specalized and no flip chip on Cruz. My bike climbs way better then the santa cruz and no pedal strikes I live in the northeast where there is rocks and roots on every trail
Look at the stupid 125mm head tube on that bike. He has to run that stem flipped for EWS races too. He should be on a medium but the reach is a joke. Specialized dated geometry.

krushiXX really? I measured 150 with my tape
I believe Jared has a shim in his to stop it hitting the full 160mm. Don't remember where I saw that though.
A silent rear hub or the mic just didn’t catch the sound?
Noel Castillo ya its silent on the new stumpies

2:08 looks like the chain rubs away the protection together with chainstays 8O
1:32 is he running Cush Core tire inserts? The valve stem is Cush Core.
Mtb Wheelie Nut Yes, Jared, Curtis and Riche Rude all run Cush core inserts
Doesn't seem like he would need crush core with blk dmnd tires.
Is it my imagination or does he really have the saddle tilted up high at 4:30?
Who would have guessed 5years ago that Jarred Graves would be riding a stumpjumper.
Tested the bike myself Happy bike days @ Houffalize Belgium that bike RIPS
well...chainstay protector seems its not doing its job 3:36
That looks like a solid rock hit! Can't protect against those.. well u could ... if u only ride hard pack fire roads.😂
My chainstay looks exactly like his. The protector wore off my bike and the chain made the damage.
Interesting XTR shifter and rear mech with a SRAM XX1 cassette 11 speed ? What chain is Jared using ? is it an XX1 chain ??
Hey Le French Gardener, good spotting. Wonder what the benefits of this system are?

will there ever be a day where we can roll on MTB aero wheels??
What kind of box is it shipped in?
The only thing I wanted to know you never even mentioned. C’mon man. What chain ring guard aka sprocket guard setup is he running?
I rode a comp carbon 650b short travel and a comp carbon 29 long travel. That bike is so damn good. Way better than my 2016 stumpy.
So what bashguard is on there since they moved to just having the two upper bolts???
This makes me feel a lot more happy with my purchase of this bike (expert model)
Wow, sick bike
So good looking bike - i love it!
36mm stanchion Neil 😉. 30mm would be quite weak for trail bike 😝. Good video guys, keep it up!
pau peris marti ah yes, I had brain melt by this time at Sea Otter
Haha I caught that too
I’m getting one, but the base model... still sweet though!
When will the 2019 Stumpjumper ST Alloy be released?
Lol like 2 years ago.
not the biggest specialized fan but wow what an amazing looking bike
nice bike and nice building, bu the chain stay protector looks that is not doing his work so well
Ask more specific questions.. wheelbase, head angle?weight of frame type of carbon of this frame. size of brake disks etc

So how was it?
Totally getting a Bikeyoke after I save up a little cash. Amazing reviews on that thing.

As opposed to the lt?
Super nice 🤘
what a beautiful bike!
Why a short travel Trail bike? Sea Otter!
Dont need travel for slalom
30mm stanchions????
I think these stem is 60 mm ...
Love your videos!
Wonder why he's running the mt5's and not the higher end mt7's🤔
Martin Cantwell Correct me if I am wrong but mt5 share same caliper as mt7 but he likes mt5 lever more

Yo Neil - What was it like to ride ?????
Dirt digger fast! So fast I would have probably won Slalom if I rode it 😂
you should of race'd man 😎
either way - living the dream dude 🤘

Is this the same bike I can get for $1850??
No.... definitely not!
Blue Gull15 s works is the very top spec model. Cost about $13000 in New Zealand
Lmfao. Try around 10K or more.
damn what a bike
Hang on there is something that Neil is stumped or doesn't know about I'm shocked haha
Looks like the chainstay is cracked
Nice to see a bike not completely loaded with rs & sram gear.
Nice bike
Awesome bike I’ll trade you my hard tail for it!!👍😊😎
The video coulda been on GMBN..
ConsciousInteractive since this channel launched, it seems bike checks have been transferred here.
Makinon
HOW FUCKING OFTEN DO WE HAVE TO BEG YOU TO SPIN THAT FUCKING BACK WHEEL SO WE CAN HEAR THE HUB?!?!?
The bike looks like having xx1 cassette
it does, he runs a hybrid drive train, and says it works great
It’s the s work it’s runs the top of the line parts
That's a funny looking Orbea Rallon right there.
but a very good looking demo 8 ...
Finn Cable Looks nothing like a demo 8 really.
Baziell the point was the demo 8 was well before the orbea and that’s where it’s from not some orbea copy
Finn Cable Perhaps the idea of a single sided strut came from that bike sure. But on the demo 8 that was implemented in a totally different way. starts looking like santa cruz bikes, well done spec, if you guys consider buying a trail bike just go for santa cruz, dont waste money on spec ;)
Bb height is a bit higher on the specalized and no flip chip on Cruz. My bike climbs way better then the santa cruz and no pedal strikes I live in the northeast where there is rocks and roots on every trail
Nice bike.
Brakes are shit.
Jura Stanić you tried them? I agree they aren’t the prettiest but they work really well.
Neil Donoghue
Yes,i did.
Didn’t like them at all.
The same is for mt2.
Look at the stupid 125mm head tube on that bike. He has to run that stem flipped for EWS races too. He should be on a medium but the reach is a joke. Specialized dated geometry.
