I want to give a big thanks to Miles for his time and for sharing his knowledge about expat life. I also thank his family for their hospitality and for allowing my dog, Cherry, to accompany me after she insisted on coming along for the interview.

Very good interview. Keep the videos coming. Your approach will be popular. Many of us are interested in relocating. You focus on the important things. There are too many videos focused on partying and big cities. Your videos appeal to the more serious-minded future expats.

Thank you for your well thought out comment! You are so right, there is so much crap out there about Colombia and it doesn't give a true representation of the country nor what life is like for us serious expats. I am working on more high-value content and guides, so stay tuned. Again, thank you very much!!!

Don't go to stupid places, with stupid people, at stupid times of the day:) I learned this growing up in Los Angeles.
Love the interview. Amazing perspective. I've been lucky to visit Medellin 3 times now, and looking at spending part of the year in Colombia soon.

Can you make a video on what health insurance plans are available to expats?

All insurance plans are available for anybody as long long as they have legal visa status (digital nomad, retired visa, investor visa, resident visa, marriage visa and so on)

Dear all. I am Swiss. Left Switzerland when I was 56. Two bags in my hand. Wanted to stay in Cartagena where I was several times before. I liked it but….. you do need a bit more money than elsewhere. After that I did buy a part of the Hostal Capurgana in Capurgana. Wow. That was something else. There is no road connection. You do have to take a boat or a charter flight. Since I am retired I do stay in Santa Marta. My wife and myself we still run the Hostal remotely. And go there quite often to see what’s going on. Feel free to ask any questions you do have. I do have now more time than before to support such issues.

What city does he live in? And it surprises me to hear that Colombia is not used to foreigners. I actually expected Colombia to have more foreigners than Ecuador or Venezuela. Or at least, seems to be in fashion for expats, for a few years now.

Miles lives in Pasto. He and myself have lived here many years and in this time Colombia has grown to have more tourism and exptas. As you might already know Colombia is also a very large and diverse county and, after all my years here, in many ways I'm still learning. You have to take every video you watch about Colombia with a grain of salt due to the continuous changes over time and geography.

The lack of foreigners used to be true maybe 10-20 years ago. But nowadays, Colombia is full of foreigners, especially digital nomads in Medellin and Bogota. And in Medellin in particular, some people are starting to no like some of the foreigners because of gentrification and sex tourism, which made the "celebrity" thing wear off, and now it's become quite the opposite.

How you are received really depends on where you live and travel in Colombia. Unfortunately, as you already know, Medellin is becoming more unpleasant every day. Miles has lived here for over 25 years and he is talking from his experience.
