I have very mixed opinions about the iPhone 6. I loved mine, and it was a great phone, but it wasn't always a great phone. The software really became slower later on. iOS 9 ran beautifully on it, and iOS 10 did alright as well. iOS 11 was terrible for me, and then the phone died. Completely. I sent it to Apple, and they couldn't figure out what went wrong either. They ended up replacing it with a brand new phone, and I only had it for a couple months before I sold it. After selling the iPhone 6 I bought a Galaxy S9 (the first of 2 that I still own), and while I do miss the iPhone 6, I'm fine moving on.
Just updated from the iPhone 6 earlier this month to a 2020 SE. Honestly, my iPhone 6 still held up masterfully. I could see the improvements between the two devices, but I would never say the iPhone 6 was bad. Also, am I the only one that really loved the design of the 6 and 6S?
I still use the iPhone 6. I just ordered an XR. It was okay for the past 5 years with no touch disease. Goodbye iPhone 6 you will be missed! (especially that headphone jack)
I still use this phone to this day since I got it brand new. It's fine for talking, texting, instagram and spotify, it used to perform much better with snapchat but hey what are you gonna do its a 7 year old phone. The only reason I'd upgrade is the battery life is progressively becoming more of an annoyance, especially in cold weather because it will shut off and come back with like 5%... At the same time it would suck to pay 1200$ for a new iPhone that does more or less the same stuff and has the same IOS layout (at least for my uses).
I have an iPhone 6 it's been with me for the last 6 years, I had to replace the battery, it's jailbroken and I've installed so many tweaks so it's super customized, it's a solid phone and it has to stick around for a couple more years because I don't think I can afford another phone in the future
As an owner of a iPhone 4/5/6/7/XR/13Max , I could easily say my iPhone 6 was by far my favorite and best phone I had, the last iPhone with an auxiliary jack , perfect size , miss it a lot
I had my iPhone 5s until about eight months ago when I had to unwillingly replace it. My husband is still using his 5S. The phones would still work perfectly well if it wasn’t for battery life and the fact that Apple doesn’t support them anymore. I like to still be the one who decides when I replace some thing. I like my SE because it still has a home button. Taking away the home button from later models Was, in my opinion, the stupidest thing Apple has done recently. It especially made things more difficult for those of us who use voiceover and were used to pressing the home button three times to bring up the accessibility features list Without having to go into settings. There are other things the home button was used fo that I haven’t figured out how to do without one using voiceover.
Hey thanks for posting this. I have a family member who's in a pinch with an old iphone6. This was very informative. The only pain point they're bumping against is the battery life so I'm looking to help them out and do a battery replacement and hope it works out. If not probably time to upgrade since the battery is randomly powering down the device. Also struggling with storage space too so we'll probably dump a bunch of junk off icloud when the time comes.
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were good for what it was ... I enjoyed using it and despite its flaws it was an amazing experience ... but time has not been kind to it ... it now sits gloriously in my bedroom drawer reminding me of golden glorious days gone by
This iPhone sold the most ever at over 200M. Yet, it's one of the top 5 worst next to the 3G and 5C. It only had 1 GB RAM, Bend-gate, touch disease, and A8 wasn't a huge leap. The 6S aged better thanks to A9 and 2 GB RAM.
I have an iPhone 6 Plus and it still works surprisingly well...no lags or unexpected shutdowns. My biggest issue is the 16GB storage and app compatibility. I’ve never been a camera person but after seeing what the 11pro can do, now my 6plus does look mediocre.
My 6+ is now an iPod touch gotta ❤️ that headphone jack :) I've since moved on to a 10s as my daily driver about a yr ago. But I still find myself using the 6+ on occasion.
My first iPhone was the 6 when I was like 15. I was so excited because I remember when my aunt had the 4s and then the 5s and I thought they were so cool but I couldn’t afford them at the time lol. My friend also had a 3g for a minute that I used to play temple run on 😂
So he says that the preformence is bad. But I honestly thing the 6 and 6S are definitely usable! They work just fine. Especially with 3D touch (AKA the best feature in a iPhone ever) And because I use a 3GS as my 2nd phone. The 6 is a lot better and faster than that phone. It also can actually use apps instead of just being able to get Flappy bird and just get 10. And it has more RAM and can run chat apps unlike my current iPhone. I have a high end 2018 Android phone that works fine. But there is just something about the looks of IOS and iPhones that no other phone can capture. Which is why I plan on getting a iPhone SE when I can afford it. and as long as the cameras can take ok photos then I'll be satisfied. The 3GS does not do that. Unless in insanely bright conditions. Thank you for reading and have a nice day.
@@Joe-im3gs Good Choice! Been thinking about the 11 instead of the XS Max, or maybe 11 Pro instead, since cameras are a really big factor for me when getting a phone.
What ever you said in this video is so accurate! I’m using an iPhone 6 according to my experience: This phones camera is very bad. It is very blurry and just recently, it started to have this wavey effect. The camera is literally unusable at this point. Yah, If anybody could suggest on what should I do to fix it, that would be helpful. And this phone having “touch disease” is very relatable! Don’t get me started on how angry I get for It just to run by itself and it’s so annoying! I would be a millionaire for every time I had to off and on my phone when it starts to have a mind of it own. For battery life, it’s very bad. It just dies so darn fast! I did replace my battery like twice, and my experience is just up and down. Additional stuff: Audio by itself without ear phones or head phones is very soft for some reason. Using ear phones is literally an aid that I need to watch videos. When it comes to calls on speaker, it’s barely hearable. Not a good experience. I like apple products and I would want to go for a better iPhone, but apples anti #righttorepare mentally might take me to buy an android instead. Again, no hate for iPhones just the company being scummy. But hey, at least the iPhone 6 has a head phone jack....
@@thatgraysuburban I work with iPhone pro-dominantly and usually the front camera is shorting something on the board but if it’s not that then the back camera needs changing it’s common on both iPhone 8 and 8+ so if you get the chance ask a repair shop to check if the phone is shorting out as the front camera is much more affordable compared to the back on hope that helps and feel free to ask a few more questions
@@harnekmann1511 thanks! Chances are they are gonna have to replace the entire flash and camera assembly. As the flash doesn’t work when the camera doesn’t work. The selfie camera works fine though.
I repaired a busted up 6 that a relative had and it got me into iOS. Granted, it’s stuck on iOS12, although - surprisingly, it did get updates in 2021 - mostly to do with COVID tracking granted, but still a nice touch. I moved onto a 6s Plus and then an iPhone 11 which is what I still have now.
I preordered the iPhone 6 back in the day to replace my iPhone 4, it was a great phone for about. 2 years. then the home button and broke and the battery went to crap. the phone would crash with 20% battery remaining, it literally left me stranded one time and I had to ask someone for directions as I was relying on google maps. I never experienced any bendgate issues though.
My iPhone 6 is still working pretty well. The screen isn’t cracked nor has “Touch disease”. The only problem I have with it is the battery overheating really easily now. If Apple were to continue to upgrade it and I changed the battery I would honestly continue using it. But now I’m looking for a new phone.
I’ve owned four iPhones in my life, the 4S, 6, 8, and currently the 12. Out of the 4 iPhones, the 6 was the one that aged the worst for me. The aluminum of the iPhone 6 aged horribly. The home button of my 6 broke. Even my older 4S faired better in hardware reliability. As for the software, it slowed down significantly with iOS 11. Granted, the 4S also slowed down with iOS 8, but it was significantly older. Thankfully, the iPhone 8 still feels fairly quick in iOS 14 which is good for my aunt who bought it from me. Overall, the iPhone 6 was my least favorite iPhone, and upgrading from the 6 to the 8 back in 2017 felt like a pretty substantial upgrade despite the design looking similar.
Yeah, the 6 aged the worst. The A8 chip wasn't a leap from the 5S' A7. Only had 1 GB RAM and the 6S had 2 and that made all the difference. Yet, the 6 sold the most ever iPhones at over 200M.
I bought iPhone 6 plus new, a year after introduction, for $400. My battery is still at 89% max capacity so it is still running quite well though I am not a social media warrior. Currently the 11 and 12 iPhones are priced close in cost so I would go after the 12 because of the newer 5 connection. I am hoping in another month or two prices drop decently with advent of iPhone 13
Had to use an old iPhone 6 as an emergency back up after my SE cracked and I can’t believe the difference between the 6 and the SE alone, never mind a more modern up to date device of today. The 6 was good for its time but its fallen behind dreadfully now, far too slow, more and more apps are abandoning it, Snapchat takes forever to load up, no IOS update beyond 12 so no dark mode, some existing apps (particularly streaming ones such as Netflix or Crunchyroll) barely work, if at all etc. Can’t quibble too much because of how old it is, but the SE is now an old device also and that still operates very smoothly.
i had the 6 and it had touch disease, and i had no clue what that was. i was like 12 at the time and i thought i broke it and was terrified to tell my parents
I have a 6plus and 6. Battery of my 6plus is still original and makes it perfect true the day. Battery of my 6 is new and makes it perfecly true the day.
I had my iPhone 6 for the longest time and sometimes I kind of miss it. The battery sucked but times seemed so much more simple back when it came out. I have the iPhone SE 2020 now just because I like the simple and classic design. Maybe I’m just nostalgic haha
I live in Jamaica and these phones sell very fast and everyone has one and I just laugh at them cause they think its better than having a Samsung honestly people are so brainwashed
No joke, everytime my new phone breaks or i need it to be fixed, i go back to my iphone 6, it still works like it just came out of the box on launch day
I just upgraded to a xs max from the 6 plus the battery was replaced when I got the phone which was 7 months ago and for the first couple months the battery was good but after that it was really bad mine also started to get touch disease
I remember when i got it for 2014 christmas. I had 32 or 64gb ( dont remember ) and had it for 2014-2017 that was ultra fast phone. At school me and my classmates played games on it. That was fun.
I still have my iPhone 6. It works excellently. The number one reason I would never trade in my iPhone 6 for a newer iPhone: The iPhone 6 has the ability to turn a note document into a PDF. The iPhone 7 removed that ability. If I'm going to type an important note, I want the ability to generate a PDF, so I can email that PDF to myself, and print it out later in the day.
I keep my iPhone 6S because it has a 3.5mm headphone jack. You're right about the battery. Living off my retirement savings, I can't afford to keep buying new phones. I won't buy any phone that uses Android O/S because I hate Android with a fiery passion.
I have one of these. It’s a 16GB iPhone 6 that my cousin bought for me on eBay for $40 on eBay last year, and it needs a CPU replacement and a screw replacement

I still use the iPhone 6. I just ordered an XR. It was okay for the past 5 years with no touch disease. Goodbye iPhone 6 you will be missed! (especially that headphone jack)
Can I have your old phone?
@@arianneshiela760 Sorry but I’m not giving it away. I’m going to use it as an iPod.
I was a freshman in high school when the 6 and 6 Plus were new.
Just get the normal 13
@@jackcil4896 not everyone can afford
I have an iPhone 6 it's been with me for the last 6 years, I had to replace the battery, it's jailbroken and I've installed so many tweaks so it's super customized, it's a solid phone and it has to stick around for a couple more years because I don't think I can afford another phone in the future
Love your Dachsund mate. Yes iPhone 6 still getting security updates and I still use my 6s which is a massive upgrade from the 6.
The space gray iPhone 6 was absolutely gorgeous.
god i just changed my FIRST battery from 7 years ago, when it was new. changing it feels like its new.
It’s like he makes reviews of everything he finds lying around his room😂
I still use that phone every day and it’s going strong!
How is your experience using the iphone 6?
@@boyoofficial1 It’s been fine. I am now using a 7 along side because the 6 is slow. Still works great for my calling and texting needs!

I used one of those till November 2020, when I finally upgraded to the SE2. The 6 was a great phone and I never had huge issues with it.
Wow that’s a massive upgrade well done 👍👍 the iPhone SE2 has a powerful chip the A13 Bionic 😦🤯

Inherited a 6, my first iPhone, and found this video very interesting. You have a very fine delivery. Thank you.
I still got an iPhone 6 I love it still works fine

iPhone 6 gang🥳😎
Me too!
I’ve had one of these phones personally but it is the mid 2010s version of the iPhone 11 in terms of sales!!
I’ve never been a camera person but after seeing what the 11pro can do, now my 6plus does look mediocre.
the iPhone 6 Ad was amazing... remember Jony Ive
Yes
My 6+ is now an iPod touch gotta ❤️ that headphone jack :) I've since moved on to a 10s as my daily driver about a yr ago. But I still find myself using the 6+ on occasion.
I remember when these were new and people were going crazy about them, and I was so sad i couldnt afford one since i was a kid
My mom still loves her iPhone 6.
It is now 2022!
We got it when I was is 8th grade, now I am 21! Incredible.
My first iPhone was the 6 when I was like 15. I was so excited because I remember when my aunt had the 4s and then the 5s and I thought they were so cool but I couldn’t afford them at the time lol. My friend also had a 3g for a minute that I used to play temple run on 😂
Now which iPhone you are using?
@@pacificseventy2596 I had the 7 plus after and now I have the 12.
So he says that the preformence is bad.
But I honestly thing the 6 and 6S are definitely usable!
They work just fine.
Especially with 3D touch (AKA the best feature in a iPhone ever)
And because I use a 3GS as my 2nd phone.
Watching this on my iPhone 6! Going to sell this phone soon for an upgrade, maybe a XS Max 🤷♂️
Do it, it’s a massive upgrade
im getting an 12 mini after years of using the 6
@@Joe-im3gs Good Choice! Been thinking about the 11 instead of the XS Max, or maybe 11 Pro instead, since cameras are a really big factor for me when getting a phone.
@@cleos_jericho nice choice, i'm thinking to upgrade from 6 to 11 pro (max) too. Hope you can upgrade soon!
Don’t. Your gonna hate the X and it’s lack of home button.
What ever you said in this video is so accurate!
I’m using an iPhone 6 according to my experience:
This phones camera is very bad.
Additional stuff:
Audio by itself without ear phones or head phones is very soft for some reason.
But hey, at least the iPhone 6 has a head phone jack....
i clicked on this video knowing my phone was going to get dragged but i clicked and watched it anyway XD
the best iphone i every bough ..... even after so many years, my phone works just as new
Josh talking about the 6 camera being grainy. Me: hmm interesting.
The camera on my iPhone 8 doesn’t work at all. The selfie camera does
Is the back camera just black or coming up with the flash cool down message
@@harnekmann1511 it’s just black and the flash doesn’t work but the selfie camera does
@@thatgraysuburban I work with iPhone pro-dominantly and usually the front camera is shorting something on the board but if it’s not that then the back camera needs changing it’s common on both iPhone 8 and 8+ so if you get the chance ask a repair shop to check if the phone is shorting out as the front camera is much more affordable compared to the back on hope that helps and feel free to ask a few more questions

I love how her voice is relaxing 😌

Still using my iPhone 6 and use it to vlog
Your dog is wonderful and you have a great voice and explain very good. Thank you bro from Italy 🇮🇹❤️
Love the dog and great video. I had to update from my iphone6 plus to the 11 way better
i had the 6 and it had touch disease, and i had no clue what that was. i was like 12 at the time and i thought i broke it and was terrified to tell my parents
I used one until part way through 2019 and absolutely loved it
I love your dog
I have a 6plus and 6. Battery of my 6plus is still original and makes it perfect true the day. Battery of my 6 is new and makes it perfecly true the day.
Still use this phone to this day, love it and feels modern 😝
Really?
Upgrade it to a iPhone 11
I had my iPhone 6 for the longest time and sometimes I kind of miss it. The battery sucked but times seemed so much more simple back when it came out. I have the iPhone SE 2020 now just because I like the simple and classic design. Maybe I’m just nostalgic haha

I own an iPhone 6+, it’s terrible. Don’t buy it. Period.
I had an iPhone 6 but I lost it somewhere in my house and since it’s out of battery, I can’t use Find My iPhone
Dude you must’ve hated the change from 6+ to X. I absolutely despise apple’s design changes with anything beyond 8+
You can convert a note in to PDF on iOS 13, too. It’s under makeup function
I keep my iPhone 6S because it has a 3.5mm headphone jack. You're right about the battery. Living off my retirement savings, I can't afford to keep buying new phones. I won't buy any phone that uses Android O/S because I hate Android with a fiery passion.
I think you meant to put 6 in 2020 in the chapters 😂 no hate btw
Haha whoops. Thanks
Changed her battery last week (2nd battery replacement) - she's still going strong! She's like a comfy pair of jeans. Can't let her go.
one of my older friends i go railfanning with still uses an iphone 6, but he’s a boomer so he probably doesn’t know much about tech 😂😂😂😂

Well, I finally ran into an issue that makes my iPhone 6 obsolete - I cannot connect to Google Home/Nest because I can't get updates past the 12.5.5. I'm glad I came across your page because your awesome video talked me into getting a newer phone. That said, should I go all out and get the latest and greatest or should I be more cautious? I really mostly use the camera, the talk, text, and very little data. Thanks for the rational and simple explanation! Your video has been very helpful!
