Thank you! I love your tutorials. I learned waltz turn and mastered it through your videos. Can you make a tutorial for how to break up and build up for Grand Jete and Saut de chat? Thank you very much!

Thank you for this break down! Adults who are old enough can learn this step easily when it is likened to the "pony." We do a few ponies, then change the pony foot to the alternate position to create this folk variation of the pas de basque. There are so many variations of the pas de basque as well as the balance. I actually know the step shown as one variation of the balance, whereas there are several classical variations of the pas de basque as well, all of which look especially beautiful in pointe shoes.

esstown yeah! There are so many versions of this, the balance, and other character-type steps! They look so simple but are sometimes pretty difficult to coordinate :)

Why In French if it’s Basque ? If not “round the leg, step basque “ because we’re not French 😅 we’re basque and the language is Euskara. Just for general information. This video is perfect for learning Basque Danza.

What school is this the pas de basque in? I did pas de basque in class (in England) and this one looks very different!

There are a few different versions that I know of as well!
      1) Tendu front croisé, rond de jambe turning your body en face, glissade to the next corner, chassé to tendu back, close 5th
      and
      2) Tendu front croisé, rond de jambe turning your body en face, jeté to the next corner, petite devleppe to step to tendu back, close 5th
I've also heard this particular step in the video called different things too, like a character waltz!
Is one of those what you're thinking of?

@@BrocheBallet Both those versions are very similar to what I was taught; although I was taught that there's a few versions of pas de basque, with a little hop as in (1) or a bigger jump as in (2).
This one is proper close - ua-cam.com/video/l4V61TRcn8Y/v-deo.html

No one will ever get to dance like the Basque so everyone does the best they can, she’s not wrong. I’ve seen professional ballerinas and they don’t look natural, basque kids dance better (example ) so there’s no “real way “ to do a basque step.. We’re not French so it’ll be Euskal dantza another mistake, so we can ALL look for mistakes

Why do so many ppl do this step differently?

    • @BrocheBallet
      @BrocheBallet  Рік тому

It's really such a fascinating step in that it is a part of classical ballet & character dance vocabularies. Which version(s) have you learned? This waltz or the tendu/rond de jambe/glissade(or jeté)/step? Or another??

I’m just learning it (which is why I was so frustrated last night). Sorry about that 🥺 I learned the one when you Plié in 5th tendu, rond de jambe, coudepied then step forward on Demi with the foot that was in coupé and then sous sus. If that makes sense? I did’t realize there were several ways to do it until I went YouTubing for clarity.
I recently started taking an adult Vaganova style class as well as my usual Cecchetti style class and I get confused. I’m an adult so the classes I can take are minimal. I’m glad to learn it I’m just frustrated it takes my brain so long to learn.

@@marianne3024 I understand the frustration very much! If you are looking for a little solace, I hope you'll give the 2nd season of my podcast a listen where I talk about the challenges (and joys) of learning ballet as an adult! Keep going, you'll get it all in due time!! :)
