      It's important to know the what and why as much as it is to learn the how. It's smart to be smart about movement.

    How to do grand pas de Basque pls?

  • @charlessmith263
    @charlessmith263 Рік тому +1

    I am a sort of ballet buff, even at 53. I thought of the "pas de basque" as a waltz step. Now I know what I need to do:
    1st step - is to the side with front foot, usually ending in a very wide 2nd position;
    2nd step - is crossing that unmoved foot so that this would be the new front foot, ending in 4th position, and;
    3rd step - the back foot now closes up to the front foot in 5th position.
    There is a waltz step that goes forward front foot (about 3rd position), side on back foot with 1/4 turn (about 2nd position), close up with that other foot (to 1st position). Is that also the Pas De Basque?

    Nobody else had a problem with her calling all us basques "peasants"? like how could we be poor AND happy?? way to be using part of our culture and simultaneously insult it...

    • @RPMDance
      @RPMDance  6 років тому +5

      Hey Olivia! I am talking about Petipa's Ballets in the 1800's when there were peasants in Basque and elsewhere who were supposed to be happy about dancing in a celebration of harvest and royalty that took all of their money! Being jolly and happy to perform in such circumstances seems ludicrous, don't you think? That was my point, so sorry for the misunderstanding!
