    my spouse, when she moved here, said that rugby players make fun of American football players for all the armor they wear, saying that they're little girl's blouses who can't take a hit
    then she saw a game on TV and understood why they wear all that kit
    (especially the helmets - back in the day, they'd wear leather helmets and way more people were killed or permanently injured on the field)

    The difference between the NFL and college is the size and speed of the defenses. I dated a defensive end who held several conference records in his division. He switched to olb the last few years of college, but those positions are super similar. He briefly played in the NFL, but he was just “too small” and “too slow.” He was 6’3, 260 and ran like a 4.85. Von Miller was in his same draft class. Von Miller ran a 4.42 and had a 37 in vertical. JJ Watt was a little shower at DE, but his size and agility still put him at the top of that draft on the defensive side. But, you look at the defenses and these are huge mf’ers who do those cone drills as quickly as running backs. They are fast and athletic and nimble. They’re truly freaks if they make it to the NFL.. force = mass x change in velocity. Imagine you run full speed toward your refrigerator, and your gd refrigerator took of at 16 mph (26.7 kmph) and jumped 93.9 cm into the air and landed on you. Yeah. It’s going to hurt. This is what causes CTE regardless of how good the helmet is or how clean the tackle is. Your head is still going to bounce of something with that force. 🤕🤕🤕

    the problem with the qb sneak is if you don't smash the guy at the point of attack his head will cut through the hit like a knife through butter and get the necessary yardage. robert quinn had to hurt derek carr because of the play call but he wanted to help him as soon as it happened but thats football and that play call can get a guy killed and then it can also be cheating cause some guys are afraid to make that hit because of the rules about hitting qbs high but if you hit him anywhere else he won't be stopped.

    Donald Parham’s concussion was so scary on Thursday night. He didn’t even really get hit either. You could see that even the Chiefs players were getting a very vivid reminder of how quickly things could go very wrong.

      I think he played rugby! We’re not crazy for enjoying football… it just isn’t as common in other places bc.. if you think about it, we were all born into it. If you’re born in the US, you have your local clubs and high schools, you probably cheer for your parent’s college as a kid, go to their games, and everyone has a pro-team. Think about how many years people have built serious soccer infrastructure here. We have hosted a World Cup, our women have been dominant, we have MLS… it still is NOTHING like Premier League. Football leagues would be even MORE difficult to build without already having all that in place.

    You know its going to be really bad when the other guy involved in the tackle immediately starts calling for medical staff. Also you should keep in mind that if there is even a suspicion that spinal injury could have happened protocol is to immobilize and take them off on the cart. The final diagnosis for Tyler Lewan at 10:06 was torn ACL

    Kabir, you can see in this reacts to the NFL's biggest hits of 2021, some of those hits were very hard to the head. In the old days, players hitting someone in the head with their team helmets would have been okay to do. If that happens today, that will be 15 yards more and, first down for that team whose player did have the ball. NFL is really trying to stop players from hitting someone with their helmet in the head, so those players who are being hit with the other player's helmet don't get brain damages or be crippled for life.

    I know when you play football it is part of the core you are going to get hit and maybe even injured, but it just makes me mad at these players that do the hitting as if they don't care at all if the other player is hurt. I just wished they would show a little more towards the player hurt I mean if nothing else walk over and ask if hes ok jus t show you do care what happens to them.

    you always ALWAYS immobilize them if there's any risk of a head or neck injury, at least until you can do a thorough examination
    even with all that gear, NFL players are at a very high risk of cumulative brain injuries causing things like brain atrophy and permanent cognitive impairment

  • @stevedietrich8936
    @stevedietrich8936 3 роки тому

    Kabir, what sometimes causes the injury is the surface that they play on, which is frequently "artificial turf", essentially asphalt covered by the artificial surface. The artificial turf, due to the lack of "give", frequently causes shoulder injuries as well as head trauma. It is rare to see an NFL player go through an entire career without a significant injury that causes the player to miss several games. The "average" NFL career is probably about 4 years, although some of that is due to people being released because their play wasn't good enough to keep on the roster. Running backs, in particular, tend to have short careers, and are usually done before reaching the age of 30.

    Could someone please explain to me why watching people get injured is enjoyable to you. I can enjoy the game, and I understand that shite happens, and people can get hurt, sometimes badly. I can appreciate a great play, where one player tackles the other, in the course of the game. What I don't understand is watching a compilation that shows the most brutal hits of the season, when it is more often than not, a compilation of people getting hurt. I'm not trying to poke fun, I just don't understand what is appealing about watching people getting hurt. Anyone?

  • @TheCosmicGenius
    @TheCosmicGenius 3 роки тому

    Yeah, the fans hope to see the players give them the thumbs up, or at least a wave - they want the players to be hurt, but not seriously injured. No one wants to see a player become a quadropalegic.
