I'm a 70 yr. old grandmother. I've always been apprehensive about new things. I recently decided turning 70 was going to come with power. I read something that said " be brave enough to fail at something" One of my 4 daughters is a tattoo artist. What do you think?
What a blast you had, well done! How I envy you the incredible community you have among so many cross stitchers in USA. I don’t think we have anything like that here in Aus 😢 I’m new to cross stitching, in my mid 60s, wish I had a stitch buddy like you 😊 Take care and thanks for sharing ❤
Hi Rose. there is indeed a thriving community of cross stitchers in Australia. Retreats, gatherings and classes and many friendshis made. I'm in Sydney and there are two weekend retreats this year that I know of in the Blue mountains as well as an annual Sampler Saturday in October in Sydney where everyone brings their work to show and they reveal a stitch a long for the coming year. I can direct you to these and more if you are interested x
Oh, and you had such a great time and a few items that I just have to have that you showed go figure and you’re right there’s such a supportive community and cross stitching😊
I’m so glad you were able to attend the Sampler Symposium at the Attic. I’ll probably never get there so it’s nice to hear about it from you and others on flosstube! Loved the bathroom mirror story…..how dare they disregard your suggestion!! ❤
Hurrah you've chosen the trees! I remembered you telling us about that mirror lol😅 Wow, all those goodies thrown in and the chance to shop in the Attic as well as meet so many Sampler stitchers and I saw that Nicola (Parkman) was there too. I am trying to at least do a Daily Thread and a little more when I can. I'm being referred to a Long Covid Clinic. Even before Covid I found the flosstubes that are less than an hour easier to watch or otherwise I end up trying to find the time to watch it and when I have to watch it in parts I lose the thread😮😂. Too many WIPs to see and I can't stitch much as I watch. Stitching with you Anna is as though you're sitting with me catching up with the latest projects and having a good laugh and chinwag so thanks. I knew you'd be fine at the SS.
Great video, Anna! I am sorry to hear of the storm damage. I live in southwest Missouri and we are having that bitterly cold front move in again. I am thankful the pipes don’t freeze as we are over a crawlspace, no basement. Happy stitching!
Really enjoyed sitting and chatting with you at the Sampler Symposium. Your recap of the event is spot-on. You captured all the excitement of attending an event at the Attic! Hope to see you again at some future events.
For paper patterns I use a working copy. After I log my completed stitches, I verify everything I have stitched that day is correct by checking the alignment from the top and the left (I am a left top starter), and then I trim all that marked up paper leaving 10 completed stitches for reference and for checking alignment on the next stitching adventure on that project. I find keeping all that marked up working copy in my bag pulls down my enthusiasm for completing the project. I find no better motivator than to pull the project out of the bag and find a small amount remaining to be stitched. I laughed at your story of the mirror. I asked my daughter this week where did the old lady in my mirror come from. I turn 60 this year and a could swear I was only 40 on my last birthday. Sounds like you had a marvelous time at the Sampler Symposium. I thought about all of you up in Mesa. Was it you that brought all the rain down? We really needed it down here.
Sounds like you had a great time Anna, I, too, am not really into samplers as I don't want to do the alphabet over and over. I do love the idea of honoring an ancestor though, and am now working on a piece acknowledging my mother and the love I feel for her. Thanks for sharing your experience. XO
A stitching table that includes someone who shares Coffee Crisp would be the best table ever!! Looking forward to seeing you work on the trees. Stay warm and safe!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience. It's not something I would do because I. Can. NOT. Start. Another. Hobby. But I truly love hearing about it. Thank you, Anna, for another pause that refreshes. ♥🪡
I was very excited to hear about your choosing the Trees as your next designated stitch. I've been hearing and seeing your progress all through Covid. You possibly have other projects as old, but glad this one is going to come to an end (and with it covid 🤞🙏). I really love this project, so simple but gorgeous ❤❤❤
I was at the gym walking in the treadmill and listening to your video and broke out laughing about your description of Kim tearing off part of her pattern. So glad you were able to attend and enjoyed reliving this event through your eyes.
Thank you Anna and good on you for taking the plunge and taking this trip. ( I remember the bathroom mirror situation well. 😳 How dare they not take action on your recommendation! Bless you. X
Glad you had such a wonderful time at the symposium. Such wonderful memories. Great pictures.I was so excited when you said your designated stitch would be the trees. They are so beautiful! Your choice of fabric for Summer House is beautiful and I agree the words aren’t necessary. Last November I stopped by Stitchville USA on my bucket list trip to Buttermilk Basin. It reminded me of The Attic which is such a great shop. I remember your mirror story and you had me laughing out loud. Thanks for a great visit. Glad you are home safely.
So glad you had such a nice time at your symposium. I chuckled when you told the story about the mirror. I can so relate. And I cheered when you said the trees will be your daily stitch. I have admired that since you first showed us back when you started the channel. When I saw the snow Portland was getting I wondered if you would have any travelling problems. At least your next few days will be the normal rainy cold but not freezing weather.
Asks for sharing about the sampler symposium. Sounds like a wonderful retreat. I’m so glad you’re going to work more on your trees. I always enjoy seeing your progress on that.
OMGOSH! Anna, I was already exploring last month how I wanted to organize my floss and have those exact metal peg boards in my "save for later" list on Amazon in red. Thank for the reccomendations and the links!
Thank you for the video and the MIRROR story is the best and made me laugh out loud. I remember when you first told us about the MIRROR! Love it Take Care
I was surprised to see how you organized your DMC threads. I also did that but just had a single number on the cases. I will be changing it to the way you done them. Thank you…..one project that I’m doing calls for a lot of thread, so I put them in another case with the numbers on each one. One has my scissors and needles and threader in it. Just take the case along with the chart and stitching
I introduced my sister to cross stitch right after I started. I started because of your flosstube. She and I were already quilters and embroiderers so we dove right in. She does beautiful work but gives much of it away. I told her that if I had a flosstube my name would be The Selfish Stitcher. I’ve only given cross stitched pieces to you, another floss tuber, my sister and my husband. I make simple quilts for gifts. My favorite sewn gift is a pillowcase for someone who needs comfort in the hospital or had an accident. I learned that from you also. It seems people really appreciate the gift and it only cost me an hour or so. A truly fabulous cross stitched piece like the Big Red Ship of Life I did for my husband in black took nine months. I am putting a basket with a flower arrangement on top of a house in a reproduction sampler I am stitching. I’m doing that to fill the verse area above the house. You could consider doing that or a bird or birds. I use Brenda Keyes Ultimate Motifs book and motifs from my different charts. I agree you don’t need the words. You went to the rock stars of cross stitch event. Thanks for sharing
You adventurer you! Off to learn new things, meet new people, and try out new techniques! Good for you! Each day brings new ways of doing things, and you are right in front. Way to go.
As always enjoyed your visit Anna. So glad that The Trees will now be your designated stitch. Yay! I’m still trying to figure out my floss storage…keep changing my mind. Right now I’m doing something similar to the photo boxes although the containers I’m working with are a little bit smaller. Might have to check out the photo boxes and see if they will work better for me. Your story about the mirror cracked me up. Too funny! Take care. See you next time.
I’m delighted you had such a wonderful time at the symposium! fun! You’re going to make the trees again!!! outstanding!!!! Much love to you Anna and G lol lol the mirror, can’t stop laughing. Mirrors and scales lie lol lol. ❤❤
OMGOSH sounds like an absolute blast. I thought about you this weekend wondering if you got in any of the storms. We had blizzard like conditions here in Michigan and have had extremely cold weather. Like chill index of -30 degrees. Good weather to stay inside and stitch for sure. My poor dogs didn’t even want to go outside. Schools have been closed since Friday because of extreme cold. Next week we are supposed to be back up to 30’s and snow. So glad you had a great time and are home safely. Enjoyed the visit, thanks for sharing 😊
Sampler symposium sounded like a great time and fantastic haul. I’m so glad that you enjoyed your step out of the box. I’m surprised you got any stitching done. Lol on the “MIRROR” - maybe the glasses??😂. Enzo is still out walkabout? 🥾🎒
Wonderful reminiscence of our time together this last weekend!! I so enjoyed it. You kept us laughing the whole time and the retreat/workshop would not have been the same without you there. Someday Margaret and I are going to make it up to see you and Jeannine. Oh and my hubs said “Hi!!”
Someone (like me) who resides in a mobile home with a garden tub framed by full-wall mirrors can appreciate how shocking the view can be!!!! I remember vividly your prior comments. 🤣
I’ve been watching the news you guys are really getting hit hard!!! Stay safe!! Over here in eastern Wa very cold but not a lot of snow! They keep say heavy snow! Doesn’t happen some ice rain! Be careful out there!
Curious about this cross this stitch business - love the samplers- dare I journey down another rabbit hole?. The hotel really should address the mirror malfunction. I once rented a house in which the closet got too hot during the summer and shrunk all my clothes. My complaint also fell on deaf ears.
What fun you had, thanks for sharing. Love the tomato chart. You certainly have your work cut out for you, 2024 will be busy ! Where’s Enzo, is he hiding to punish you for leaving him? 😂. Love 💕
Anna I’m curious, does everyone bring along gifts for their tables or how is it done? You certainly did need some oversized luggage to bring all that haul home with you. I know BC was sending some of their extra electricity to both Alberta and Washington but I don’t know if they sent any to Oregon. Although yours sounds more like storm damage than brown outs. Friday was our highest usage of electric for quite some time.

Failing is part of success, go for it my friend!🥰
Yes your daughter will be amazed

Loved your informative video ! When you told about the lady in the mirror I just cracked up ! I can only imagine - have a great stitching time
Thank you for sharing your wonderful trip and information. Happy stitching
Oh, and you had such a great time and a few items that I just have to have that you showed go figure and you’re right there’s such a supportive community and cross stitching😊
So enjoyed your update on Sampler Symposium! Looked like so much fun….
Your sense of humor is so refreshing. I was dying over the bathroom mirror story. 😂
I can’t express how disturbing the reflection was😱😂
I’m so glad you were able to attend the Sampler Symposium at the Attic. I’ll probably never get there so it’s nice to hear about it from you and others on flosstube! Loved the bathroom mirror story…..how dare they disregard your suggestion!! ❤
I know!!!! I may have to have an attorney draft a letter!!!!

I hope you stay high and dry!!

We had the best table🥰 I hope our paths cross again! March is sign ups for PNWSS in September here in Portland…just sayin🙏❤️😁
Glad to know you made it home safe. Very sad about the tragedies. The sampler symposium sounds amazing.
You are so organized!! I`ve been looking around my sewing hoping I`ll get inspired to organized. So thank you. Can`t wait to see the trees done!
OMG…no one… I mean no one has ever said that to me❤️❤️
I’m laughing so hard about the mirror!!! 😂 I wondered if you’d bring that up! Glad to hear you had enjoyable time!

I may indeed brought the rain❤️. I am going to ponder creating more working copies👍❤️
Love your attitude, Annie, love your videos!

I love how you put a period behind each word😂 try to convince yourself 😂
Wonderful time visiting you and seeing all your goodies.
Thank you so much!❤️
Hi Anna. So glad you had so much fun on your stitching journey. I love the DMC organization. Enjoyed the video and always look forward to seeing them.
Thank you so much!❤️❤️

I am excited that you will be doing the trees. Glad you had fun on your trip.Love your channel. Come back soon.
That 'casket' is amazing!!!!
You adventurer you! Off to learn new things, meet new people, and try out new techniques! Good for you! Each day brings new ways of doing things, and you are right in front. Way to go.
Yes! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your trip to The Attic. I want to go. Glad you had a good time.
Sounds wonderful!
If you are looking for an applique Paris themed quilt, I'm recommending the Vintage Spool Mon Ami pattern.
On my bucket list! Not a sampler stitcher per day, but love looking at them. I've got a couple on my list for 2025.
As always enjoyed your visit Anna. So glad that The Trees will now be your designated stitch. Yay! I’m still trying to figure out my floss storage…keep changing my mind. I once rented a house in which the closet got too hot during the summer and shrunk all my clothes. My complaint also fell on deaf ears.
Omg great minds think alike I purchased the same box from Michaels for my floss 😂 😂❤
Some of us are just more clever😂
What fun you had, thanks for sharing. Love the tomato chart. You certainly have your work cut out for you, 2024 will be busy ! Where’s Enzo, is he hiding to punish you for leaving him? 😂. Love 💕
He’s got new duds🥰
You did good. I never would have that idea. Ann what happen to your white tree cross stitch
It is now my designated stitch❤️❤️
I have a similar problem with the mirror in my bathroom. Some old lady has moved in uninvited and she jumps in the mirror every time I look in it.
I wonder if the pest control people can help us???
😂😂❤❤ the mirror 😂😂

I saw you at the attic. ❤

Where is Enzo? Is he having a timeout? We miss him.
He’s back❤️❤️

I think your videos are too short. They are so enjoyable, before you know it, it's done.
You are so sweet❤️
