Emotional and embodiment work is what has helped me heal from Fibromyalgia. I did work with my mind first with mindfulness, learning to quiet my mind and be present, which only got me so far but was a key step for me before going into the body.

Thank you! This was powerful! I'm a hypnotherapist and plan to add somatic work to my toolkit for my clients. Very powerful stuff here!

Alyssa are there any tools for healing things like body shame, body dysmorphia and holding on to excess body fat?

Hello, I hope you don’t mind me sending you a suggestion but I suffered horribly with body dysmorphia and body shame for many years and really understand the pain and impact of that. For me, the discovery of the 3 Principles understanding changed everything at a deep level - no tools or strategies, but a complete shift in my understanding of the true source of my experience. So there is the allowing and accepting of uncomfortable feelings/sensations (as discussed here) but seeing how they will pass through/move on - as energy always wants to be in flow - when we don’t hang on to them and add in more meaning/significance to scare ourselves with. I don’t know if that’s helpful, feel free to discard if not. Wishing you well x

Yes I totally agree with you that energy wants to flow and we can't let it stagnate. I did not know much about the field of somatics but as soon as I made movement/exercise and dance a daily practice my entire life experience shifted. This was also the same time I was doing the trauma and inner child work. I'm still working through all this but movement and self acceptance have been game changers. My challenge is to accept the scars and the shape of my arms as I went through cosmetic surgery at my lowest phase and the scars are still to heal even though it's been almost a decade. I've been patient and loving and doing the work but I feel this is still something I need to somehow heal.
Thank you for writing in. It's nice to be able to have a conversation around this.

@@zoeedwards5998 For me, the 3P's was a start but a lot of us have trauma so I could only get so far until I did the somatic work--learning to feel emotions in the body, learning to be ok with sensations, etc. The thing that the 3P's misses is lots of our thinking comes from unprocessed emotions and sensations in the body. So I by learning to feel and process emotions and being in the body then my mind finally did quiet the way the 3P practiioners speak about. The 3P's is basically a way a lot of people try to spiritually bypass and then get into trouble. Just look at some of the practitioners--they are great, preaching the 3P's until they go through something difficult like a divorce (Ami Chen stopped teaching the 3Ps during her difficult divorce as she was not doing well at all) , death in the family then all the letting go of thoughts etc. doesn't work as they then need to process emotions and they have no skills in this area. Oh BTW I was really into the 3Ps for over year, took so many courses even a 9 month practitoner's course to be a 3P Facilitator--I believed in it but so glad I went furth er in my journey to really learn how to feel all the emotions in the body and all the sensations so now I actually live in my inner body.

@@inspired11 I have worked on a lot of things and the key for me as been deepening into self compassion, learning to be embodied, and then whenever thoughts come up perceived flaws to see them as thoughts and let them go. I have worked with many issue and have seen it takes time but once I haven't engaged with certain types of thoughts, don't give them any mind--the key being don't identify with then, they slowly stop coming and in time can be a think of the past. The thing is we usually think there is something to DO to get rid of them, but the best thing is to do nothing, don't engage and the brain wil stop having those thoughts come up eventually. Think about so weird worry you had that the brain came up with but you didn't care about, it probably never came up again! Love the part of you that thinks that you are somehow less than because of your perceived flaw!

I think you are incredibly intelligent and gifted, it’s hard to concentrate on what your saying when your blue shirt is so low it shows your breastbone and it makes me wonder what unconscious intentions are happening, from a fellow professional …you are a beautiful person, but it’s to distracting to learn from you…healthy feedback only..not hating, thanks

Perhaps it would be valuable for you to dive into why it bothers you so much. Leave people to express themselves how they see fit without shaming from other women.
