    It's a microfiber towel. You don't have to purchase them from Deva Curl for $20+. You can get those towels from the auto store much cheaper. They do the same thing.

      Samantha Ivy A few years back I found one at the Dollar General that I really liked. I don't shop at Walmart...won't go there to save my life, lol. Was the one you bought from Bed Bath & Beyond reasonably priced?

    • @samanthaivy6813
      @samanthaivy6813 8 років тому

      Evette LaCour-Nixon I think it was less than $8.00. It was one of the smaller ones. It was one of the boxes that had 2 turbins inside of it. I wish I could find a large one at Dollar General. Why don't you shop at Walmart? Just curious...

      +Samantha Ivy...I don't shop at Walmart 'cause the only one we have here is clear across town where the traffic is always heavy!! Nothing against them though.

  • @danitaa.coversoned.d2757

    Shawnta thank you for your hair video. I had locks for approximately 7 years and prior to that I was a perm queen. I took my locs out one-by-one and of course I lost a lot of dead hair and needed my ends cut. The locs were also very harsh on my cheekbones, the dead hair. April 2016 will be approximately two years loc free. My hair grew a lot, but now my hair seems to be growing very slow and my edges are soooo then, I can't wear my hair in any up-do styles. I tried the things I said I would never do... a sew-in hair style for several months; I bought a wig, but I really am not kind of person who likes that stuff, I prefer real and natural. I feel a little stuck because I wear my hair now pulled back in a ponytail with, of course, a lot of gel, but I want my hair to grow all over, especially my edges. I use to grow my hair easily with a perm back in the day. But now things seem so slow, my hair seems thinner. Anyway....your video is first encouraging, informative and educational. I prefer and love long hair. I thought I'd share. I will try to put in action the things you shared in your video.

    • @ShawntasWay
      @ShawntasWay  9 років тому

      Good luck!! If you need any more help with edges I have a video on my channel called "how I grew out thin edges" I struggled with really thin edges when first going natural but found lots of tricks and told them all in that video

    DIY...1st...half banana, one avacoda, 1 cup of raw honey, 1 cup of goya coconut milk, or choose your own brand, 3 tablespoons of olive oil ...mix with blender...or whisk till smooth. Put all over hair...put plastic cap on..sit under dryer for 45 mins... rinse...sulfate free shampoo. Rinse. Use your leave in conditioner, next use your leave in cream that has shea butter in it and oils, next choose an oil. I use jamaican castor oil mix with jojobo oil that will seal in the moisture...Everyday or everyother day spray hair with water and add a leave in cream that has shea butter mixed with oils...you can do this after work and let hair dry a little than do the 2 twist in big or small size...put satin cap on when headed to bed...Will soon be getting my on channel...trust me girls...you ain't seen nothing yet! I'm going to tell you the dos and donts..and all about products that are good and bad!..Believe me some alcohol in products are fine to use...you have the good and bad alcohols just like there are good and bad carbs...So so many ways to keep hair mosturize...

      +Shawntas Way (Shawnta'sWay) I looked at your tips again & I pre-pooed for the first time this morning. After massaging the coconut oil thru my hair and scalp & putting a plastic bag over it for 15 min. my hair felt really soft. I wasn't prepooing before. Also, I'm going to really focus on my ends & keep it really moist in order to keep it from breaking off there into little hairballs. I really hate that! It drives me crazy about the breakage. So I've heard a lot of good things about Monoi oil; so I'm going to give it a go. Right now, I'm putting my hair in medium sized twists and place it in a protective style for the next few days. Thanks Shawtas Way for your suggestions. It really got me thinking more about what I'm not doing for my hair. God bless.

      I feel like ppl are either using too much of it or they're not using it properly. I mean I know not every product is gonna work the same for everyone but coconut oil does not contain protein. I believe the coconut meat do but that's totally different than the oil that's made by them boiling the coconut meat 🤔 I may be wrong. Watched the process weeks ago but the oil itself does not have protein in it. In that case wouldn't the nutritional info state the grams of it? or do >1g?

    Your hair is gorgeous! I have high porosity hair and it is always so dry I've been using an oil mix of castor oil olive oil and peppermint oil on my scalp but I think it's too thick to seal my hair with. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do or use?

    I going to try the LOC method tonight to see if that helps me.

    how would you suggest putting your hair while sleeping? because buns make my hair go really weird and nothing helps me after that except washing it. and i dont want to be washing it everyday
