Used an Honor Magic 5 Pro for one year, but missed the Xiaomi cam and it's software too much. Bought the 14 Ultra and I'm really impressed. Just the foggy lens is a bad joke...
I want to sell the Honor, therefore I went back to the MI 11 Ultra as a second device (backup/photography/usage at home).

Good Review. I carry my Xiaomi 11 Ultra daily. I bought my Mi11 Ultra a few days after it came out here in China. I liked the design of the rectangular camera and info bump. I see no reason to upgrade to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra unless it has a Rectangular Bump when it comes out next month. Another phone costs $1,100 or 7,700 RMB here in China. I also use an iPhone 15 Pro Max and looked at changing to a Vivo 200X Pro, but will decide later.

The Mi 11 Ultra is a real winner in terms of how well it performs for a 3 year old phone when so many have been making claims of how much they have improved year on year....If I still had the Mi 11 Ultra I think this year would have been the year I would have upgraded from that phone.. The 13 Pro I have now is not really a leap forward over the 11 ultra and the improvements seem to be glacially slow evolutions rather than significant improvements. Yes I know the 11 Ultra is a VERY good camera system so changes will just be building on that. Xiaomi should have spent more time on improving the video, improving stabilisation, removing the judder when panning around and making motion look more natural when making videos of things like moving water, Sony has none of those issues with its Pro i which is also 3 years old.
So even though the improvements are still not dramatic the things I like are the fact it is available in the UK and you don't have to import it and risk software and compatibility issues as well as the camera kit which allows the use of proper photographic filters and the handle improves its battery life as well as makes it more like like using a proper compact camera too. Those changes alone make it worth buying. I still prefer some of the MI11 Ultras dynamic range over the 14 ultra in many of those images but the 14 ultra does have better detail overall.

Great video and comparison! I really like that the Mi 11 Ultra holds up pretty well these days, over 3 years after it's release compared to 14 Ultra, but obviously the 14 Ultra has more camera vibe to it, than the mi 11 ultra's smartphone vibe in the photos and videos, overall the 11 ultra is still a great phone to this day, and it's good to see it :)

I actually do like some of the shots from the Mi 11 Ultra and as you mention in the video, the dynamic range does seem to be better on the Mi 11 Ultra, (hopefully Xiaomi can sort this out with a future software update)
The 14 Ultra does have a more realistic look to the photos, but you have to remember that its a Samsung sensor vs a Sony sensor and back then Xiaomi wasn't working with Leica.
That only started with the mi 12s Ultra.
So the 14 Ultra has the leica profiles and colour tuning that is lacking on the Mi 11 Ultra.
But overall i think that the Mi 11 Ultra performed really well against the 14 Ultra, especially for a 3 year old phone and if had one now I'd still be really happy with it.

Agreed man, I think it still performs really well!! And I think this is one phone that will hold it's own for a long time! Sadly updates will be limited for it :( But it is said to recieve the HyperOS update, and well, we can hope!!!!
And like you said very difference approach! Like you said adding Leica to it, and fine tuning it more torwards photography! (though the 14 Ultra is going to need to work on the sharpening!)

The Mi 11 Ultra is genuinely impressive given its age, and I'll have to admit, I am leaning towards the Mi 11 Ultra in some scenarios, specially in certain video samples. It looks more like footage you can add some flare to, rather than overly crunched contrast. I wonder if this setting is also affected by the Authentic x Vibrant filter, I've not had the chance to look. Very interesting comparison, Thanks for sharing.
Good point honestly it might indeed be nicer to edit for a style you prefer, and vibrant i honestly hardly ever touch, it seems also that they limited the difference between the 2 which is a bit od... And thank you of course!!! Possibly next up the lumix^^
I have both. A thing is that 11U is Sony/Samsung sensor and 14U is Leica lens are Sony LYT-900.
So new sensor from Sony but I always don't use Vibrant mode because a picture aren't realistic.
Also, display are smaller on 14U, but give you more sharp screen. It is narrowed than on 11U which I don't like due of limited space.

Whichever way you look at it, the Mi 11 ultra's ultra wide camera is better in both day and night photos and videos.

I was referring to the animation lags it used to have in daytime where the phone actually already took the photo but the animation comes late, so it shows the effect like " oh no I missed the shot " but in reality the phone did indeed did not miss the shot. By listening to your words, I think they fixed that issue now!

@@ThroughJermainesLens There is no point in changing my xiaomi 11 ultra to xiaomi 14 ultra since I don’t see any advantages in comparing cameras in your review, and often even 11 ultra is better. But the most important factor is the presence of a rear screen, which I use for group selfies when meeting with friends or family.

Yo! Does your Mi 11 ultra heats up while using the camera app? I don't play games so I don't think i will have trouble with the snapdragon 888 but i'm worried if it will also heat up while taking videos and photos!
I haven't experience heating up during filming and mostly taking pictures, if you play games then yes it can heat up.

I have a regular Xiaomi 13 and not gonna lie I don't enjoy the cameras at all, notably a lot worse than the 13 pro but I can't afford it so 11 ultra is the way to go😅
I have a mi 11 ultra and a Pura 70 pro, I'm struggling to decide which to keep. I prefer the Pura 70 pro in most ways, the camera is better except for the ultra wide, it feels better, the quad curve screen is nicer and overall I feel that it's better but the issue is that I don't have an official Huawei high speed charger so charging is limited to 25w whereas my xiaomi charges at 67w and my xiaomi also has the rear screen which is cool. Both are great
I carry both my Xiaomi 11 Ultra and my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I find the Apps better on the iPhone. The cameras are both good but for different reasons. So I carry Both. I have looked at the Huawei Pura 70 Pro, I find the Pura phone is better for Action shots. Seems it has a better f-stop and faster lens for moving shots. I will decide after the next level of phone cameras.
@Raymond-h1s the Pura 70 pro is far better than the xiaomi mi 11 ultra honestly. After a bit of testing it was an obvious choice
Finally, someone who takes photo that is aesthetically pleasant to the eyes. You see things differently and this is a great comparison. Both are amazing. Xiaomi 11 ultra is sharp while Xiaomi 14 ultra has a nice DOF. But anyways, it always depends.on the users perspective and artsy angles to put the devices at optimum performance.

I fell on my ass.... I was waiting for this type of comparison and it was you who made it with your very photographic approach and so much the better. I fell on my ass.... I thought my Mi 11 Ultra was going to be smashed by Xiaomi's latest flagship... and then... I saw and I cried... with joy. OK ! slight differences in image processing and rendering in light and shadow. I fell on my ass.... UWide on 11 Ultra day or night with better HDR among other personal things. Wide on 14 Ultra for its depth effect with better managed shadows and lights but the 11 Ultra is not far away. X5 day for the 11 Ultra more sharp and night for the 14 Ultra more realistic. I'll stop there, otherwise with the videos comparison I'll write you a book... I fell on my ass 3 times and it hurts. After watching THE video, your video, I'm going to wait for the HyperOS update for my 11 Ultra, it will be 1 year longer and I'll see what the 15 Ultra will do. Xiaomi get your fingers out of your ass... the 14 Ultra needs Cam updates! Who loves well chatises as well. Bravo for your comparison which will go down in history ! :)

I saw your comments, i have already received the phone in friday the mi 11 ultra, but i haven't had the time to test it outside since im painting the house, inside and out, and building walls and the gates, here in the belgium side.
Tho, the few pictures i have taken from the mi 11 ultra compared to the ones of vivo x90 pro, is nothing alike as the Vivo beats the mi ultra by a long shot in terms of real life quality in pictures in both day and night, specially at night, theres no comparation at all.
I will watch your video (this one here) since i have it paused right in the beggining, I'll watch it and give you the feedback and hopefully get to test the Mi 11 ultra furthermore this coming weeks, and also theres the belgium comicon in bruxels this week, so i will be taking the mi11 there and take some good shots of the actors and the cosplayers together with the pixel 8 and then compare it on the computer and see who does better, and will give you some feedback.
Funny enough I don't think I ever compared the Vivo X90 Pro and Mi11 Ultra! Did do the mi11 Ultra vs the X80 Pro (LOVED that phone!)
when it comes to night Vivo has something unique to them, and while they go for the brighter night shot, the mi11 Ultra does as well, and knowing how both perform, then yes the X90 Pro will beat it because it just has that crazy HDR control. It doesn't have the best low light "feel" that is still something current Xiaomi does best, but they are really good at it!
And painting the house, got a new one? If so congrats!!! and goodluck with that! Ones you go and do those shots, yeah for sure give me your take, I am always curious about other opinions! I do hope you are going to enjoy the Mi11 Ultra btw!!!
And I am kinda jealous about your belgium trip, loved Dinant so much! Even more so the story they told on the Citadelle de Dinant about the war! Very well captured! As well as Ghent! Beautiful houses, though that market place building looks terrible there, it stands out so much with the design! BTW!!!!! if you haven't go to the train station in Antwerpen! It is beautiful there! Like the architecture is stunning!!!!! I miss that in new buildings, soulless!
And cosplayers, I have heard there was en event there! Comic Con right? Been to an event like that before for my Kungfu showcase with the school I was in back then, was pretty cool to see so many people in different styles! (didn't take many pics though, have some video's on it lol)

@@ThroughJermainesLens In a sense another phone whose camera holds up is the Note20 Ultra since Samsung hasn't made much progress except for some stylistic changes (arguably for the worse).
the stock camera app definitely is holding back the Mi 11u's hardware capabilities. It is unlocked with apps like Motion Cam Pro or Gcam. It may even beat Mi 14u in some situations using those apps.
I always use a camera as the manufacturer gave it, never use gcam^^

I'm a mi11 ultra owner since the phone came out of market. I still impress of this phone. My only concern is that when I not using the phone for some a few it. Goes like in sleep mode and I can receive reg. Text or call . Does Enya one have this issue or is just on my phone ?

I think there is a setting to turn off mobile data/wifi when the screen turn off.
Maybe by mistake, you turn the setting on.

Wifi died 6 months ago on my 11 ultra. Its common problem. Every 11 ultra will sooner or later get this problem.
I upgraded to Xiaomi 14 ultra, its good bit i miss the bigger screen and the back display.

The most disappointing thing about the Xiaomi 14 ultra in this comparison is the ultrawide. It loses out significantly against the mi 11 ultra in both day and night for photos and videos. It's still a much bigger ultrawide sensor on the mi11 ultra than the one on the Xiaomi 14 ultra so this area has regressed. Night video is definitely better on the Xiaomi 14 ultra for the main camera. Night zoom is also better. In general though for the main camera and 5x zoom the difference isn't that big with it being more style differences rather than big quality differences. There hasn't been a huge amount of progress in phone camera hardware in the last 3 generations it seems. Camera hardware was already pretty good 4 generations ago
I have said it for a while, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra needs updates! And the difference in process I think is pretty big, and the approach in general between the 2, 1 almost fully goes for the photography approach (just need a camera button on the body, microSD and 3.5 for a full approach to it) And it enhances it with more RAW support, better video recording options and so on.
But that being said, yes the Ultra wide is the better performer on the Mi11 Ultra, it just does a much better job in dynamic range, and while it is sharp for the ultra wide, the 14 ultra is just too soft and then it loses detail (too sharp can do the same though)
@@ThroughJermainesLens There seems to have been a change in image processing style from the 13 ultra to the 14 ultra. The 14 ultra seems to have more sharpening with the main camera than the 13 ultra, at least from the Chinese camera comparisons in photos and video. I guess this is what the general consumer would prefer. I think the Leica colours have also been toned down a lot compared to earlier phones and I much prefer them compared to Xiaomi's first LEICA phones. I tried the Xiaomi 12s pro before, which was one of the first Xiaomi LEICA phones and the colours were very 'strong/saturated' especially greens and reds. I think the colours now are much better on the Xiaomi 14 ultra.

@@ThroughJermainesLens I don't mind it as long as it's in reasonable moderation. I bet you'd actually prefer the Xiaomi 13 ultra then compared to the 14 ultra. @@solas1183a mi tampoco me gusta el exceso de nitidez digital. Sin embargo, tan solo hace falta crear un perfil de procesado personalizado en el modo Pro bajando la nitidez al punto que te guste. Tiene solución y es sencilla de hacer. Otros smartphones no te dan esa posibilidad. Es uno de los motivos principales por el que elegí el Xiaomi 14 ultra frente a la competencia.

How about the battery for 11 ultra,
not the best :) about 4 hours screen on time, depending on use, but I have it since release so not a shocker.

Modern like high end probably a very little amount, modern phones as in touchscreen, there are some yes. Worked in a mobile store so helped setting it up for them.

I'm a recent owner of X14U, but still have the X11U as well... I got the X14U mainly because of it's macro capabilities which were not available on X11U. It was kind of tricky to get good macro results with the X11U as no dedicated lens. Macros with UWL are cr.p to be honest. I "surrounded" the problem very often by doing a short 8K video sequence with blocked exposure & focus, moving forward & backwards during some 10 seconds. Then I went through the video to check out the best focus as I want it and exported that frame, cropped it into 4:3 size and voilá! Gave me far better results with a bit more depth of field than using the 2x option of the main camera.
Now it's so much easier on the X14U, either with the 3.2x or 5x lens :-).
I am still not too happy with the HDR & night mode handling of the X14U... I think Xiaomi should work very urgently on it in order to get at least as good results as with the X11U, specially in the night mode.
I think they have a decent amount of work to do for the 15 Ultra, some updates that are needing, highlights are without a doubt a thing they need to work on. And consistancy is important.

Would've still have my 11 ultra if it didn't suddenly die. Screen went black, completely unresponsive. Had battery swapped, nothing. It's a paperweight now.

@@ThroughJermainesLens it gets warm when trying to charge it, so something is happening in there lol. Got a 14 Ultra now, the cameras are insane. With each phone I get different network issues, and the 14 has been the worst since the 10 ultra :(
This is a kind of comparison Xiaomi doesn't want you too. No night and day difference in terms of camera quality at all! And it's his is not good for Xiaomi 14 Ultra if you are after just great cameras.
True, but i am not really in the business to please a brand 🤣 but yes not crazy upgrade, but in turn a verrryyy different approach, and no questions asked the 14 Ultra for me is the better one because of the approach

Is the upgrade worth it? A relatively old phone compared to the three generation newer phone. Indeed how about the 12 and 13 models? The 11 is difficult to find, but the 13 is now selling at a large discount.
There used to be huge and very noticeable difference between upgrades. Is it now down to personal preference of tone, sharpening and peeping into the pixels?
Actually looking at the images I found that I prefer the 11 images much of the time, as they seem to have more details in the windows for example. However, there is also the problem of looking at photos that have been reprocessed several times by your video editor, UA-cam and finally on my screen. Maybe you could put a few shots for download on a website?
I have a nearly three year old OnePlus 9 Pro and have been considering an upgrade. However, I don't need a faster phone, brighter screen, faster charging nor am I interested in making vids. Longer battery life would be good, but I get through every day with one charge.
I have only two gripes about my current phone. The telephoto quality is poor, so I use the main lens and crop for better results. Artifacts, when I take photographs of mountains for example, somewhere in the processing artifacts are created in areas that have very similar details, for example grey rocks with patches of snow. This does not seem to occur in photos of faces or animals. I don't even know at what level these artifacts are produced, as looking at the RAW image I can still see them.
Anyway, this vid has raised the question of when it is worth buying the latest and greatest, or should I save USD 300 or so and buy the previous incarnation.
Finally thanks for creating a channel that does provide a decent review of the phone performance. The vast majority of UA-camrs appear to just take what other reviewers are saying and rehash it,
