The Concordat's Taurus sigul looks great as this society's symbology but it also befits its military as of this video.
At this point, coming in later than others, being long-time retired from MechWarrior and content as a casual audience member, I'll just burnish what other commenters have already stated here, better than I could - specifically, Frank Smedley and Greg Domenico. TDF's perpetual “keeping its back up”, outright hostility to Federated Suns/Inner Sphere and 'anything-goes' willingness are understandadble when reviewing its history. Or upon (re)watching GDN's overview video on this faction. Their use of dirty tricks can also therefore be 'appreciated', even if not sympathized with, when put up against the treatment by other states' actions.
Again, as a casual lore listener, that sums what I can contribute without repeating to an inferior degree what specififc earlier commenters have already more wisely posted. This in-depth entry on another BattleTech faction's miliary organization and culture was as filling to the universe as your others, Narrator. The imagery of artworks and models displayed were interesting to peruse; their red colour looks good across whole, diverse formations of units. Plus, I'm beginning to like the Taurains more. My gratitude to you for all of that, GDN. 'Til your next sign-on, have a healthy and awesomely relaxed week.

Can't blame the TDF for hating the IS, and Davion in particular. During the Reunification War, it lasted 20 years, wrecked the Taurian economy, and oh, killed a 100 million Taurians.( not a typo). And then the SLDF tried to do it all over again less then 200 years later.

The Taurians are the definition of fuck around and find out and SLDF sure as hell found out.

They take "Hippety Hoppety, get off my property" to all-knew heights, as Tex so eloquently put it. A truly fascinating part of the Periphery and probably one of my favourite states out there.

Ahh the Taurians creators of the Concordat class and the Wagon Wheel class aka my two favorite warships of their era.

And compared to the Baron (the IS heavy destroyer) the Concordat class was 100x better.

    Hello Grim.
Long ago, I found a 'soft spot' in my heart for the Taurians. They and the Magistracy were both badly served by the old Star League, and I can well understand the Taurian viewpoint of lack of trust for Inner Sphere machinations and power plays. Even though I chose to be associated with the Davions, my Mercenary Unit, the Star Lions Corps, would find itself hired by the Taurians from time to time. Often to fend off incursions by Liao forces... although, one such contract had me facing Davion units and a commander that the founder of my Merc unit knew well.
With a history like that of the Taurians, I find it to be no hard thing to understand the Taurian penchant for disliking the Inner Sphere, and their aggressively defensive doctrine. Frankly, I would not like to attempt to take one or more of their worlds. Losses would be severe, and even after gaining 'control' of the planet, it would take overwhelming forces to keep control of said planet. This would drain firepower needed on other fronts, and make holding any territory taken a massive pain in the posterior.
As you said in your video, Taurians will stoop to any length, or any tactic, to gain advantage against their foes, and are about as stubborn as a massive slab of high refractory steel plating... or attempting to lift a 25 kilo mass on a 5 gravity world.
The few times I have faced Taurian units, played well by other players, I have always come out the victor... but most were nearly Pyrrhic victories. Never trust Taurians who are 'falling back'... they often lead you and your forces into traps and to throw yourself at well entrenched defenses.
Say what you will (but not to their faces) about Taurian tactics and forces, the only other forces I've ever known that rank up there with them, is the defenders of Tukayid.
I would much rather trade with the Taurians, then to fight them. At least that way, I know my gains will be better.

Easily the best must under utilized faction in battletech. I do wish CGL would take the battletech setting as a one setting vs just inner sphere. Big waste of the IP and the amount of stories that could be told.

The Taurian's are also known for creating weapons system's literally out of nothing in order to compete with the major house's.

It just that "get off my lawn" attitude combined with the fact that they're from the periphery and a bit paranoid.

It makes sense with the "get off my lawn part," but is also kind of ironic because they have the best education system in the Inner Sphere and Periphery combined, lol.
