Just my two cents, but I have always considered that if a cheaper version exists in a different region (for example, the European version of Crusader of Centy), then it's a scam to make people pay $1000 for the US version. Yup I made a video on this where people on eBay sell a game and buy it back at a stupid price. The everyone else jumps onboard and then they just ride the wave they created.
Are they worth it or are they at that price because someone on eBay thinks it's worth that price? It's not a regulated market so anyone can say a game is worth as much as they think it's worth. Let's take the two games in the picture that you see before clicking on the video. Them two games were popular back in the day and sold well so they are not what I would call "rare" so how is a popular game worth more than a lot of games that is more rare? My bet is on someone inflating the price because the market is not regulated.
There are people for sure inflating the price. They are doing it with some of the games that are scarce, this in turn has pushed up seller prices. I believe The Death and Return of Superman could be an example of this.
I understand why people choose to use click bait thumbnails but when they use images in the thumbnail that have nothing to do with the video topic, that irritates me. Congrats gamer boy, you tricked me into watching your video! At least I now know to avoid your channel.

It’s not about the game itself at this stage. This is about a collection and people having a display. If you want to play it there are re releases easily available, roms, and a bunch of ways to emulate these roms or even play directly on original hardware.

I think the repro market is a great option to build a physical collection, although I've even seen price rises here as well. And 50 games is a huge collection. At its height the software attach ratio was 6 games.

Why did I start collecting Sega in 2024 😅
If you're paying that much for wilywars I hope it doesn't have the cover pictured lol
😂 That would be a suspicious purchase.
@@RetroGamerBoy it's probably been mentioned but fatal fury 2, Australian pal release over $1000 also. Keep up the great content mate!
It seems that they launder money, with those prices.
I'm sure some do. The Wata stuff I'm sure is used for that.
I thought he explained the pricing pretty well at the beginning, and did say these were the higher prices.
@@sloppynyuszi I'm not referring to the video. I'm just referring in general
There are people for sure inflating the price. They are doing it with some of the games that are scarce, this in turn has pushed up seller prices. I believe The Death and Return of Superman could be an example of this.
Sega could do limited releases and make some good coin
Amazing haha!!
Certainly expensive
I understand why people choose to use click bait thumbnails but when they use images in the thumbnail that have nothing to do with the video topic, that irritates me. Congrats gamer boy, you tricked me into watching your video! At least I now know to avoid your channel.
🤣 what are you on about? That is a Sega mega drive game and other a Sega Genesis game. And the video cover Sega Mega Drive and Sega Genesis games that cost more than $1000. What are the elements that do not refer to the video? 🤣 Are you lonely?
@@RetroGamerBoy calm down bud, no need for insults. You put Aladin & Ristar in your thumbnail making it look like those are the two games you're gonna have in the video. You know exactly what I'm referring too. And what's with this "are you lonely?" crap, because I criticize your thumbnail, you choose to get salty like that? Whatever man, best of luck.
Sir I have vintage rare sega don quijote/ Donpen virtua fighter t-shirt
Where did you get it?
I buy it from the thrifty store and I am planning to sell it
@@RetroGamerBoy i am looking for a collector who have an interested to my Vintage sega x donpen shirt
The youtuber Sega Head may be interested
@@RetroGamerBoy can you offer it to him?
One word repro
one word reaction: amen
🤘😝🤘
It's ridiculous people are that greedy for these games I can get them for $10 and don't tell me cause of a stupid box and manual makes it cost that much that's just silly
It's insane the increase in price over the years.
Jogos caprichados
And expensive
Lol none of these games are worth those crazy prices.
It’s not about the game itself at this stage. This is about a collection and people having a display.
If you want to play it there are re releases easily available, roms, and a bunch of ways to emulate these roms or even play directly on original hardware.
It's stunning isn't it.
Good call, the mini consoles with their various mods are also a good buy.
@@sloppynyuszi you can literally collect the Japan Version of a game for a fraction of the cost. You don't really need to know Japanese. It's called greed.
This is one of the Biggest Reasons I hate collecting. I get that some games are Rare but 1k is alot of money for a piece of plastic that may or may not continue to work over the next 30 years...
It's the same with stamps and pokemon cards. There are a few Pokemon cards that sell for hundreds of thousands.
Im calling bs :)
Your welcome to call it what ever you like
I farted.
Ripper?
Hi Mike, I got a couple of question in regards to the adaptor that allows cartridges for Genesis, Mega Drive and japaneese ones???? to be compartable between all these SEGA game consoles that probably have different ports in it. And I wonder if so called "mega key" is a solution?
A mega key would work but there similar carts that do the same thing but are much, much cheaper.
@@RetroGamerBoyI can't find it anywhere. Don't even know how it looks like. Wonder if you have some video of showing how those adaptors look like? And are those adaptors compatible if man wants to play japaneese exclusive (cart with its round corners), but has mega drive type russian version of the console?
I try to collect as many megadrive games on my very limited budget. I have just over 50 games now and I'm very grateful for what I have 😊. I like yourself dream of owning some of these games but reality is I'm gonna have to settle for repro. I personally don't think any game is worth this much money , but hey! that's just my opinion 😊. Great video mike. Your a true megadrive fan that holds the console in your heart just like myself 💙. Awesome content as always 💯⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I think the repro market is a great option to build a physical collection, although I've even seen price rises here as well. And 50 games is a huge collection. At its height the software attach ratio was 6 games.
By the next generation of video game systems, I'm afraid I can't be a retro gamer collector no more these prices are going to be so insane. I might as well buy the new generation systems instead. I see everdrive cartridges
in my future🔮🙌🏻! If I want to really maintain playing retro games.
I will no longer be a retro collector
but rather a retro video gamer.

I think that is the same for a lot of people. Emulation a repro carts will be a viable option for most.
