Hi, I used this as a guide to build my first computer! I took your recommended parts list, ordered the components and assembled it. Everything fit together, no problem. My only suggestion for this tutorial is that as a beginner, I didn't know about where all the wires would need to go and I had to dig around on UA-cam for specific videos about the Gigabyte motherboard. But all in all, I want to say thank you, with this video, I was inspired and guided to do something that I never thought I was capable of!
The fact that people post no thermal paste, and know enough to know that thermal paste is important but don’t see or know about the stock paste on the stock heatsink is hilarious and as awesome as your responses. Love the, “great, thanks for the comment to support my channel even if it’s friggin worthless” attitude on the dumber comments, and I guess this one is now too but whatever. Like the videos. Keep it up and I wish you all Green Day’s

I did not change anything except windows pro decided to go with home edition and the power supply. Went with a bit more ram also. We are very happy. Thanks Mike B

@@claytrader Yeah, but you've overspent in places you really didn't need to and under spent in places where there are some benefits with going with better parts. For example, if a workstation GPU is a requirement, but it only needs to be able to drive 4 monitors AMD's Radeon Pro WX 3200 would drive just as many 4K monitors as the P1000 for nearly $100 less. A B550 motherboard would give you the advantage of PCI-e 4.0 which isn't a super important thing right now but would be a nice thing to have for future expansion in case you wanted a faster SSD in the future. Plus it'd give you the added advantage of being ready for future AM4 socket releases with fewer compromises. The 850W PSU is WAY overkill. You could easily find a great unit in the 550W to 650W range that is Platinum certified with a fan that doesn't spin at lower power usage, which would be more than enough for now and still plenty in case of any future upgrages. Hello, I have added the price of the following parts: processor, $399, motherboard $135, Ram $145, hard drive $79.99, video card $409, case $112, power supply $134, Windows operation system $147, keyboard + mouse $40. the total I came up with purchasing all the parts from Amazon currently is: $1,601! Reallllly nice, I ended up with 2 p400 2gb nvidia and not too confident about it. My other pc has a k4000 3gb, but I dont know if it will do better. What do you think? I have a 10/11 gen asus m/b. Now heres the mystery, its taking forever sometimes to scan the 100gb of data on the ssd-1500mbs. and websites may load slow. navigating charts is in slow motion unless I back off on nvidia settings. I have 32gb ddr4 @3300 cl16. Im thinking the ssd sitting bare on the m/b no heat sink isnt doing so well up to 52c. The pcie 4 slot does have a heat sink but the 10700kf is a pcie 3. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance!
Hi there I am installing all the PC components, the Quadro P1000 doesn't have any cable to connect right? I am installing now but the manual says to connect the power supply cable? I don't see any in the graphic cards????
I watched some Arab guy trader and he had 3 LG 32" monitors tilted on thier sides that gave him like 9 monitors, each monitor was divided into 3. but I never figured out which LG monitors he was using. I bought a Asus 32" monitor off newegg for 260 (refurb), but it doesn't have the same look. do you know what monitor would fit best ?
I would never run a trading computer with less than 64GB of RAM. The difference is very noticable. And for cost/convenience, DisplayPort monitors are the way to go. $440 for a single trading monitor is way too rich! I don't expect trading platforms to display charts in 4K anytime soon. I'm using 4, 22" ViewSonic monitors along with a 32" main.
Hi Victor, I'm building my trading computer and and I'm interested in which part I will use, I have 4 x 27'' and 1 x 60'' monitors, which graphic card and processor should I use
@@gonebirdy4444 IMO, no. For me, pixelation is way too small at 4K - too much stress on the eyes. However, if your eyes can handle that strain over long periods of time... just remember that the eyes you have now are the olny eyes you will ever have and most stress damage is irreversible. I just don't think it's worth it. My present setup is one main 27" 1440p flanked by a 24" 1080p along with 2, 22" 1080p monitors. One 1440p is plenty for me. Ditching the fifth monitor has proven beneficial as well. Obviously, everyone's experience, needs, and preferences are unique, so take my input for what it's worth to you.
Came here to say this, glad someone caught it and I hope it changed it. It’ll work, but not like it’s supposed to. These days the speed difference is harder to notice but i would definitely switch them on the next cleaning if you haven’t. It’ll take you 2 minutes (literally).

Clay, what you think about Saphire RX 570 Nitro+ 4GB 256bit DDR5 Dual overlocked? It has ability to connect 5 monitors Will this be enough for day trading or not? Thanks in advance)
That's actually the exact card that I use. I have 3 monitors hooked up. Never tried hooking up all 5 slots as 3 is enough for me. Ryzen 5 chip, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD (not m.2), and the Sapphire RX 570 4GB. Handles stock trading very well at a fraction of the cost.
Hi! Thanks for your video! About the power supply, I only find the Seasonic Focus GX-750, is it still okay with all the rest of these equipements? Thanks!
yea i5 and a 1650 or 2060 gpu 16 or 32gb ram 500 to 750w psu fans about 6 cpu clooer tower building your self any where from 200 to 700 depends on if you want muilt monitor
Can the Quadro P1000 run all four monitors at 4k resolution at 60hz? If I have only three or two 4k monitors, can I run them at a higher refresh rate on that card or would I need a different card all together?
I watched this to know what to look for in a trading pc you didn’t explain anything. I already know how to build a pc I want to know what components matter most for day trading.
Almost perfect. But core count doesn’t matter for trading software which DOES NOT utilize multiple cores like games or video rendering. Trading platforms like 90% of software (except games/video render). Depend on the speed of the threads through an individual core. As of 2020 Intel threading is faster than Ryzen. Although Ryzen has 4.0 pcie so it’s a confusing conflict snd hard to dive deep to find out exactly what the most important program is utilizing on the board and cpu.
Hi guys, I purchased the parts to build this computer and just assembled them. However, I’m getting a No Display when I power on the computer. Any thoughts on where the problem may be? Thanks.
@@claytrader I searched your site, but was not able to find a Contact page / section. Can you respond with an email? I suspect the reason my build is not working after following the steps in the video above is because the BIOS of the Asus 450 motherboard has to be update so that it is compatible with an AMD 3900 processor.
Earlier I’ve seen suggested gpu being quadro k1200 and it’s successor is quadro p620 which is in the same price range Any particular reason you chose p1000? The cost goes up dramatically if I’m going with 2 gpus
Ok it's been a while since I built a computer, I'm an IT Director now, but I remember having to put a heat transfer paste between the CPU and Heat Sink... I didn't see you do that. Is the Sink pre-setup for that??? (I'm fairly sure it is, and I'm just aging myself here.)
Oh yes, the Ryzen 5 processor works plenty well. I'm sure the Ryzen 3 ($170) would also do well, but the Ryzen 5 ($180) is just a couple dollars more than the 3 and you can even get the Ryzen 7 for $300. Great costs savings over the Ryzen 9 ($450) which is complete overkill.
Keinlieb the 3300x is like $120 bucks you could even go for the 1600x 1700x or 2600 non x. Extremely cheap. I don’t know why you would need a quadro card so you could get an APU saving a ton more money.
i agree, a 6 core would work just fine, with inegrated graphics, ryzen 5 3600g would be better option, internet connection would be more important then a gpu lol but solid none the less!
Hello Clay, First off thanks for the video much appreciated been trading since 1991. Starting this build and would like you to update it if that is possible? As of this video prices have gone through the roof for many of these components. I purchased the Ryzen 9 3900x and the Nvidia p1000. Before I go any further any suggestions you can make on the build to save some money would be appreciated. And before anybody starts with the negative comments do not waste your time. I am a trader and this is the stock market. If you are trying to make money there is no such thing as overkill. Many of the comments here are ignorant I am only concerned about getting my trades filled at the prices I enter them at and I do not want to here about slippage!!!!. Please tell me the best components for me to accomplish this. I will post pictures and video of the build as well as me using it to trade when it done if you like. I have seen your systems in action in your videos and I see that they are fast .That's why I chose to follow your build recommendation. Keep up the good work and ignore the clowns. Takes money to make money. Thanks. Mike Trading since 1991
Hi, I copied your build . My ryzen 9 is not powering up. I only ran one power cord to the mother board. How many wires did you run from the PSU to the mother board? any help would be appreciated this is my first build. .
@ClayTrader, how much did it cost you total to build your PC? I had built my own PC before, but now I am using a used Dell PC bought for less than $300 with Intel i5, 16GB of RAM, 512MB SSD, and a used Nvdia graphic card bought on eBay for less than $50. I am thinking of building a new PC so thanks for the video clip. I don't do day trading, I trade options.
Wow, my trading computer has a ryzen 5 ($180 instead of $450) and 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD (not m.2 for $25 vs $100) sapphire RX 570 4GB graphics card ($150 used) and 3 monitors. Great build, just seems huge overkill. If you're just starting and money is tight, you can for sure get away with less superior components and save yourself hundreds of dollars that you could be using to trade with.

For everyone crying about how this is an overkill build for a trading computer, yes, it's true. But remember these things: 1. It's better to be overpowered than underpowered 2.They probably wanted to 'future'-proof, which is always a good idea whenever possible - who wants to replace their PC every 2-4 years? Now heres the mystery, its taking forever sometimes to scan the 100gb of data on the ssd-1500mbs. and websites may load slow. navigating charts is in slow motion unless I back off on nvidia settings.
I have 32gb ddr4 @3300 cl16. Im thinking the ssd sitting bare on the m/b no heat sink isnt doing so well up to 52c. The pcie 4 slot does have a heat sink but the 10700kf is a pcie 3.
Your thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the thoughts
Hi Victor, I'm building my trading computer and and I'm interested in which part I will use, I have 4 x 27'' and 1 x 60'' monitors, which graphic card and processor should I use
@Victor Robert is 4K on a 32” monitor worth it for trading?
I think you made an error installing ram for dual channel. You need to put the first stick on the second slow and the second stick in the fourth.
That is recommended by most MOBAs but it doesn't rlly matter that much if you do 1 and 3
Everything works....... just fine lol

Came here to say this, glad someone caught it and I hope it changed it. It’ll work, but not like it’s supposed to. These days the speed difference is harder to notice but i would definitely switch them on the next cleaning if you haven’t. It’ll take you 2 minutes (literally).
nice job..sheesh everybody has their input on this build.I like the video card selection cuz it's a workstation one designed to have a better MTBF. Wonder how the hot the CPU gets..only thing that worries me about these AMD CPUs but I like like it.

No coolant paste for the cpu?
Nope
Is there a cheaper gaming card that will be compatible with your recommendations on your blog?

Almost perfect. But core count doesn’t matter for trading software which DOES NOT utilize multiple cores like games or video rendering. Trading platforms like 90% of software (except games/video render). Depend on the speed of the threads through an individual core. As of 2020 Intel threading is faster than Ryzen. Although Ryzen has 4.0 pcie so it’s a confusing conflict snd hard to dive deep to find out exactly what the most important program is utilizing on the board and cpu.
Thanks for the thoughts.

@@claytrader I searched your site, but was not able to find a Contact page / section. Can you respond with an email? Earlier I’ve seen suggested gpu being quadro k1200 and it’s successor is quadro p620 which is in the same price range

How much was this setup
Can't remember, BUT, it would be way less at this time given the amount of money these same parts would now cost a few years later.
I mean it's been working fine for me.
Price???
Much different than it was then due to inflation...
that power supply is huge
Oh yes!
The video of installing windows isn’t in the description
No? Okay, I'll look into it.
That's an overkill pc for trading. You don't need that TBH.
6 Cores are enough.
There is a 4 core for way less as well.
Thanks for the thoughts

Hello Clay,
First off thanks for the video much appreciated been trading since 1991. Thanks.

For everyone crying about how this is an overkill build for a trading computer, yes, it's true. But remember these things:
1. It's better to be overpowered than underpowered
2.They probably wanted to 'future'-proof, which is always a good idea whenever possible - who wants to replace their PC every 2-4 years? This PC should easily last 6-7 years.
3. Clay has plenty of money to burn anyway
4. I use it for MORE than trading too lol
Well, things certainly get crowded with the more things you have running
