Society changes language, and seldom the other way around. Language changing society is but a hypothesis (Sapir-Whorf and Boas before that; now followed by Deutscher) which is becoming obsolete by the day, specially with the solid arguments of John H. McWhorter. An educational channel with such trajectory and global reach should be more responsible than claiming not even theories as truths. It's also a pity that criticism of new technologies is also frowned upon in the video, were rational and educated critiques are equalised with extreme Conservatism and even Purism (and even Luddism) represented in a giant steampunk spider and angry "antique" men -you missed the monocle! On the other hand, the conclusions by the end of the video are quite accurate: the State (like any other even private organisation with little to no accountability) controlling free speech is an actual danger, coming from both conservatives and so called progressives, the latter being less conspicuous than the former when infiltrating and damaging media and academia and, thus, the open society with actually liberal values, among which are tolerance and responsibility, values that this channel should help to build.

Language is the source of subjective reference for meaning and is the word of Law. When it's meaning changes but the spell remains the same, society has changed.

Agreed, but but has not changed through language in a performative point of view. There's no solid evidence for a strong version of Whorfianism, and that for its weak version is usually read with an ideological bias beyond the scope of the scientific facts. McWhorter is quite clear about this.

not really, the answer lies in the Human DNA not Hitchhiker's Guide Into The Galaxy...there's something in the human DNA & I think it's the key to life as we know it
