No Players Online is back! The cursed FPS horror game is being made into a full length game. It's less ARG focused this time and sees you delving into files on John's old computer! There's also a fun little MapFriend Easter egg in there too. :)
@@thatzaliasguy honey, I m a full blooded native Korean. I have never met a single Korean who goes either by John or Jeon outside of using it as an English nickname.
I think I prefer the original draft to be honest. This is cool, but it's like a handful of disjointed ideas launched at a wall. They're all great mechanics... but there's just no thread through them. Hopefully more time and effort will draw it all together.
The noclip to giant boss fight is something I've thought would be amazing for years. The idea of noclipping always had an eerie feeling, but something actively hunting you outside of it is terrifying.
Oh man I remembered this. A really interesting setup up until the guy is like "NO STOP IF YOU WIN THE GAME IS DELETED AND I NEED IT TO REVIVE MY DEAD WIFE"
Seems better then the original due to having a actual story rather then "this game haunted by my wife lol" and making no sense in reality by the time the game was made.
I still think the first version of the game was the scariest since it actually felt like an abandoned FPS map so the horror really caught me off guard. This one felt it tried to be an actually horror game, which kinda ruins what makes this game special in the first place. But I still enjoy the whole story though. Way better than the last one where the twist was someone put his wife into an FPS game lol
20:09 As a Korean, his name looks really silly Park, Song, Lee are all commonly used last name in Korea But that part's late 80s Korean vibe was actually really good Especially the dorm felt really familiar, just like a room of the old house where I used to live

Man, I remember when I saw your videos of the first game. The original in my opinion had a lot of potential but I felt like it focused way too much on the ARG. This looks a lot better and like an actual FPS. Well done devs for giving the concept another chance!
I don't know. The game has some creepy aspects to it but I think the sacrificed most of the interesting plot to make it more expansive. The first game you discover a game online you play alone and then someone joins. Then later the developer seems confused and wonders how your even on there, and it slowly turns into begging as it is heavily implied his wifes soul was transfered into this as a way to keep her with him. In this one there is a desperately lonely guy who bails on you. You get a virus and get logged into the developers computer and there is just a lurking evil in all the games. I just feel like it isnt the same anymore. It isnt as scary or interesting because now it trying to be Pony Island or Dementium.

Wow, a few days ago I remembered about this game and even played it (but it was scary and I didn't finish playing it) and then suddenly your video. Thank you!
i don't understand when this is supposed to take place. why does a boomer shooter have a 1973 copyright? we're using a computer with windows 93 on it but an internet provider that has a newsgroup that was closed in 1985? people in a webforum with registration dates of 1970??? the first public web browser ever was released in 1993. why does everything have VHS effects over it? CRT monitors didn't have VHS effects. is this another developer who doesn't know when anything happened prior to 2010?
I agree thats weird, but the copyright thing might be the only thing easily explainable. I still see products will old copyright dates on them so that could be whats happening but other than that yeah its odd.
Probably. I was a kid in the 90s, None of this looks accurate to the computer scene back then. Then again are we sure the developer was going for accuracy?
Really got that impression too. Computers in the 70s were like Kaypros and Apple II's, barely able to handle e-mails let alone any kind of 3D rendering. Even the 'Windows 93' has a GUI is much more like something out of Vista. If I didn't know any better, I'd say the developer... A) Is foreign and did not grow up with technology. B) Was born after the iPhone was released. Or C) Just doesn't care.
I do agree. Suspension of disbelief is one thing and it doesn't have to be perfectly historically accurate _obviously_. (Windows 10 bluescreen in a parody of windows 3.1, NASA download speeds for 1993, modern resolution on a 1993 monitor, desktop widgets, modern slang and so many more small things are all inaccurate but make sense in the context of a modern parody title) of course there is artistic freedom to create an interesting game that captivates a modern audience and is easy to play but the dates and choices in this are just so wildly baffling inaccurate it destroys any immersion of a believable product from the portrayed time period. Even if the game takes places in a parody alternate universe it still obviously tries to mimic and immerse players in a 1993 period piece. But with the inaccuracies currently in the game it's like making a WW2 game that takes place in 1890 with helicopters and m16 rifles. I will keep watching the video to see if there is an explanation or in-universe lore about it but so far it's definitely a bit of a turn off. edit: there's an explanation for the advanced game graphics, that's about it
Yeah, The dates are definitely a little confusing. I will say that this dev rarely does things by accident, so I suspect there's a reason for the date inaccuracies.
