It's because David Goggins challenges their most fundamental beliefs about who they are and why their life is the way that it is. He's basically telling them that they're wrong about everything, and they lash out because they haven't learned to see through their feelings rather than blindly act them out. If Goggins can come from such tragic circumstances and STILL overcome them to be successful--that's like a molotov cocktail of cognitive dissonance for many people.

im an underachiever, i've always been good at everything i ever took seriously, but i lacked the discipline to keep on going if you know what i mean. now i am 31 years old living all on my own, no friends, and unemployed in germany, my 3rd relationship broke down about a year ago after 5 years and an on/off period up until a month ago. today i turned to god again and i asked him to show me the way. on my busride home from the grocery store i saw a girl sitting on the bus, she kept looking at me, she took out her headphones, she was ready to get picked up and she was that type of girl i would usually go after. but in that moment i decided to not do it. i am done with comfort zone and i'm just starting to realize it. i have to achieve smth greater for myself. i have to love myself and i have to love god. thank you. this video came to me at just the right moment.

I've struggled with something a bit similar too, i never even started anything that could be useful for me, i used to get good grades in school but i started not caring and i stopped, i did nothing in my life other than sitting around all day feeling sorry for myself, i used to work out consistently but i stopped, but for the past couple months i've been building good habits and trying new things and learning new skills. It's been hard but i've been enjoying it, i started reading, working out in the gym and training MMA, improving at chess (it's something i'm passionate about so i started taking it a bit seriously), started learning german a couple days ago (i barely know anything but i'm slowly trying), started trying new things and getting out of my comfort zone, i've struggled with social anxiety so a couple days ago i started doing rejection therapy (you can search it up if you're interested), i try to meditate but i can't really do it consistently, basically i've been trying to improve myself in any way i can, it's been great and i hope i can continue doing it, if you also wanna build habits i suggest you read the book "Atomic habits", it's about how building habits is supposed to be a slow process and why you never stick to your habits, and how you can stick to your habits and never get bored or quit, i've learned so much lately, i can help you start if you're interested, i hope you're doing great man and i wish you all the best, keep going.

I pray that you find true salvation through God(or you might've already), and perhaps learn to fear and respect His name enough to capitalize it when speaking about Him as He is the one above all other "gods" and not to be referred to equally like the other fake gods.
Exodus 34:14(?) - For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
Please notice the capitalization, not only for you but for those who read your comment so that they might understand your intent.

This is a strong video man. I've lost over 20 pounds just by dieting and completely getting rid of my bad eating habits over the past year and now I am skinny fat. I haven't been able to find the discipline in myself to get my a** up and start working out to get fit and healthy. People like these really motivate me to get up and find my discipline, but in the end it really is only in my hands to get out there and start training. Really needed to hear this from these legends who got through nigh-impossible odds, saw the deepest darkest depths of life and fought back.
Let me say, I didn't even know much about David Goggins until I saw this video and got captivated by his words. I ended up watching the whole Joe Rogan podcast with him and this guy is a MONSTER. Fuck, I could just put him on repeat on my headphones and push through everyday like a machine. His words really hold power because of the shit he has went through and how much he has accomplished.

that feeling when I wake up at 4 AM, its cold AF, I take a warm shower and feel the warmth fill my body, only to ruin that joy with 30 seconds of cold water just before I'm done.
I feel the adrenaline inside me.. I want to win against the world, to prove everyone they were wrong about me, its freezing outside, 10 degrees Celsius.. I put my pants on, take the hoodie, put my shoes on and go to the park near my house to work out, and THAT FEELING.
when I know nobody dears to wake up before me, all I can hear is my mind.. and I'm freezing, I want to get to my bed and go back to sleep, but things MUST BE DONE.
cuz that kid inside me still has those big dreams, and the adult me needs to make them happen.

At 23, I started my fitness journey running in my neighborhood daily. Calisthenics, going to the gym, stretching, and a dedication to strength became my lifestyle. I embraced pain and blamed myself for weakness, transforming it into power. No alcohol, just relentless dedication.
Strength wasn't just physical; it was in my blood, my DNA. Inch by inch, I reclaimed myself, gaining control and perfecting my mind-muscle connection. 2.5 years of relentless effort, facing skepticism and accusations. 'Steroids,' they said when I got bigger, but my consistency won them over.
No one believed in me initially, but that fueled my fire. Success is for life; it's a journey, not a destination. Keep pushing, stay consistent, and watch the skeptics turn into believers.

I became paralyzed back in September. In the first few months were hell, I was in so much pain all the time. After a few surgeries & countless hours of therapy doctors think I will walk again when they believed I would need assistance for the rest of my life. When I was in the dark I wanted to die. I cried myself to sleep on many days. I was going to go thru with Medical Assistance In Dying. I was questioning why me. I didn't have the greatest life. I just decided I'm done feeling sorry for myself. I'm done being normal. I'm going to walk again. I am here for a reason. I am going to do great things. The dark time you are going thru may seem like it will never past, but just like an actual day, its always darkest before the dawn. Make today the day you decide to make a change. Make today the day you start your journey to become great. I hope I can be a testimony to you to not give up, so that one day you can do the same for someone else. Never Quit. Never Give Up.

      @Godly_Improvement Рік тому

@@samuga5706 True. Today I ran 4 miles straight in the freezing cold, and I started to wonder why other people don't do stuff like this. Maybe they are afraid of the pain, or perhaps they don't have the willpower to do it. Either way, if you don't start, you can't finish.
Today one of my teachers started talking about addictions and exercise. He said that if you're fat, you can't just try harder to un-fat yourself, you have to go get help. Of course, this isn't true. You don't know how hard you can really try until you have actually done it.
So since most people don't want to put in the effort and go through the pain, they won't achieve what they want to. Meanwhile, the people that do will achieve everything that they want. I want to die in good shape, rich, and having gone to space at least once. If I die, and I didn't do these things, I will forever regret my life. That's my reason to go through the pain.

You think that most people aren't okay with experiencing discomfort, but they are. It's just that why would they subject themselves to running through the cold when it has NO benefit??
+ You seem to assume that the only barrier to being rich is to just work harder than everyone else, but it's more complicated than a simple measurement of "effort". I think the fact that you want to be successful is cool, but saying your willpower is stronger than everyone else's is weird

Wow, this video on "Discipline" is absolutely spot on! I love how it reminds us that discipline isn't about punishment, but rather about building self-control and reaching our full potential. It's so important to have discipline in our lives, whether it's in our studies, work, or personal goals. This video really drove home the message that discipline is the key to success. Kudos to the creator for explaining such a complex concept in such a clear and relatable way!
