@adrianbuck8772 yeah, you could use that as an example but Mac was in a way better situation than T Law was. Nobody even looks at 2021 for Trevor, everyone just gives him a pass for that year and rightfully so.
Drake Maye is closer to situation proof then Caleb Williams but Caleb Williams has a higher ceiling. I think Drake Mayes ceiling is high enough that the higher floor is good enough to at least make it a worthwhile debate which is the better pick
To me, Penix is a bit of a throwback archetype of qb. He’s a true pocket gunslinger with the arm to make any throw on the field. He reminds me of Matthew stafford and that’s his ceiling imo. I’m a fan
A good potential idea for going forward is a 2022 NFL re-draft which could be good to look back at your rankings and see how they’ve panned out so far!
What stood out to me was the difference between Bo and Penix. Penix is a high level pocket passer who’s got unreal accuracy, anticipation, arm talent and touch. Bo looked more like a college gimmicky QB, everything at the LOS and depended on YAC. Didn’t look good when he had to drop back to pass Running out of clean pockets etc.. You saw the difference between a top 10 pick and a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I hope Penix goes to a great situation like stroud Think he can be good from day 1.
Penix and Maye are the most interesting QBs for the Cardinals IMO. However, it looks like Kyler is coming back for week 7, possibly. So, we probably won’t be in a position to draft either now.
Great show as always! No denying Caleb’s talent and the like, but is a thought that some of the off the field stuff, his dad saying he will pick and chose who drafts him or more just go back to college if he doesn’t like the team and now reports he wants ownership stake once drafted is a potential red flag - However big a prospect is and good they look big asks before proving they can do it in the NFL, irrelevant of how likely it is he ends up successful.
Could you mention in one of your vids the comparison between Fields and Caleb? Both have a great deep ball, hold onto the ball for a long time, and trust their athleticism to get them out of dangerous situations. I acknowledge CW will be regarded as a better prospect but there are many things to consider for the Bears who may have the top 2 picks of the draft.
I get the logic taking out screens but everyone always overlooks the fact that fade route are also quick throws, and that's a lot of what zach Wilson was throwing at BYU
I really worry that Caleb is gonna struggle to play within the structure of an offense in the NFL. What Merle hodge said about manziel’s flaws reminds me of Caleb’s flaws
Hey guys, been watching a bunch lately. Got a slight nitpick, and I'm not even sure I'm right but I figured I'd mention it anyway. I caught Trevor on Mike Renner's new rankings show, and it felt to me that the picture quality of Trevor's feed in that segment looked cleaner than it does on these uploads. Don't know if that's on Renner's end or what, but I figure if you're going to go to the trouble of uploading these as video segments, might be worth adjusting the settings to whatever was on that video? Not a real difference maker either way, just thought I'd point it out. Thanks for making so much good football content.
Hey guys, please make sure you tell us what schools these guys are from. We know the elite ones but there were a couple names I had to Google. Thanks for the good work.

Lost a ton of credibility with this take, you guys literally didn't watch the games, just spitting what others are saying smdh
Except JF didn’t have the pocket presence, the quick release, or the playmaking ability(CW is an u deranged runner and is substantially better at throwing outside of the pocket), and JF had a slower processor coming out. If we’re talking prospect CW is further along. With an HC like Ben Johnson and a new center CW will be succeed
Remember kyler was rookie of the year and a 2 time all pro - and statistically been excellent (baring last year) which is more about how bad the cardinals coaching and team building had been his entire time in the nfl, personally believe kyler will flourish with a coaching staff that didn’t fail at the college level and without one of the worst drafting GMs in nfl history
Nice work again fellas. Caleb Williams, his character is coming into question for me. From the outside, it seems his head is inflated and he’s big time already and I think we’re seeing it on the field. Off the field, the talk of him choosing his NFL team seems arrogant. He just seems entitled and a ME guy from the outside. Reminds me of Kyler Murray character wise. Not good for a leader of your team. Michael Penix is the IT guy. Character, leader, humble, confident, likable, and a rocket for an arm. He’s showing the clutch play but we haven’t had to see it enough yet. Those 2 throws in the clutch were MONEY. He’s the guy I want to roll with. Something Pete Carroll said on the Richard Sherman show earlier this year. Pete said, I didn’t know Earl, Bobby, Sherm, Kam we’re going to be great but I wanted to win with those guys.
I thought the exact same thing about both. The way Utah dominated him last year were some small red flags but those flags have only gotten brighter. Penix was a dog in Indiana too. I remember hoping Lions would take him late in the draft but now he's going in the top 2 rounds for sure.
If the titans had never wasted two picks on qb they would be in prime position to take any of these qbs and be a good team but since they still have glaring holes in other position they are literally in the exact same spot they were last year.
I was wondering, have either of you scouted any of the James Madison defensive line yet? All four of them were named first team all Sun Belt and Jalen Green just had 5 sacks against Marshall tonight
Penix will be 25 on draft night with loads of injury history, where JJ will run a 4.5-4.6 40 and is 21. You can evaluate the stats all you want but there’s your bottom line. JJ can make every throw out there, NFL teams are going to love them some JJ mccarthy come pre draft time
It’s not about stats, JJ is just nowhere near the level of passer that Penix is. Like not even in the same galaxy. JJ needs to stay another year and shoot at being the number 1 pick.
And we aren't talking about #1 pick, which Penix never has a shot of. JJ is gonna be drafted in front of penix for multiple reasons idk what to tell ya bub.
No team plays the Wolverines and is terrified of JJ. If he played for Iowa, WI, Northwestern, MINN, or Michigan State they'd all have the same exact record they do now. He doesn't move the needle.
Guys I know he's not draft eligible until next year but you've GOT to watch Ollie Gordon from Oklahoma State, He's a star. Also Brennen Presley is one of the shiftiest quickest guys in college football, he's just being held down by the terrible offense. Will be worth your while
Kurtis … Rourke. Last week was a good example of the low-lights of his game, but think he’s an interesting day three guy for a teams with a veteran QB (Aaron Rodgers for example) to stash and develop. Maple Missile, Baby!
I feel it needs to be talked abt how bad Penix is under pressure. Very much a statue. He can certainly throw and let a guy hit him but the pocket movement leaves a decent chunk to be desired, regardless of the athletic deficiencies relative to the top 2 QBs. He’s yet to really have a game this year where he’s faced serious pressure. Also think his anticipation is a little overblown in the sense that the vertical offense asks a lot of the receivers to track the ball. Like Penix is perfectly capable of putting enough on it to give his guy a chance, but I do think his receivers make those throws look more accurate than they might actually be. Polk is a likely 2nd round receiver and Odunze is probably going top 15. Then again his concerns sound a lot like what we said abt Stroud last year and he’s been very good so far. Of course there’s also the regular concerns of a guy who’s 24 and has torn his ACL twice. I still think he’s fringe 1st. Like somewhere in the 20-32 range he might go. Or early 2nd. I just need to see him actually face pressure and handle it well. His ceiling looks like a Stafford type of gunslinger QB. The release also reminds me a bit of Phillip Rivers. I think the best scenario for him would be to land on team with a good OL and 2 really great receivers, aka the Vikings. He’s def a high floor type of guy, but he could end up being more like a Ryan Tannehill type of guy than Stafford. As for the Vikings, I feel like a career similar to the one Kirk has already had is kinda of one of the best scenario’s for Penix. Also when comparing him to stroud, the anticipation and accuracy stroud showed was definitely on a different type of level. And we’ve never seen a game where Penix looked even close to what Stroud did vs Georgia last year.
Lets be perfectly honest QBs are gonna go 1, 2 and 3 and that's just the reality of the position and the importance of a QB, likely Bears will keep their number 1 and draft a QB and will trade their number 2 pick back within the top 10 so they can still get a bluechip pass catcher or tackle, Vikings, Patriots and potentially Denver will be looking for that number 2 pick and then if they arent in the top 3 will be looking at the 3rd pick... the discussion really is who are the top 3 QBs and their order...at the moment its probably 1.Williams, 2.Maye and 3.Penix
I mean he’s 6’1”.5, Rodgers is 6’2”, Mahomes 6’2”, I don’t think that’s why i think it’s because he knows he has god given athleticism. But that won’t out in the NFL as much especially because he isn’t as fast as Lamar or fields
I love you guys and your analysis! I have made some changes in my QB order in this sacked draft. Williams is still one and Maye is two, but I flip flopped the third QB from Penix to Nix. Daniels rounds out my top five over Mc Namara because I think he needs more development in college while Ewers has not met expectations this year, he still is a great talent and should go early in day two IMO.
Question - why did you switch Penix and Nix? My list goes like this: 1. Williams 2. Maye 3. Penix 4. Nix 5. McCarthy 6. Daniels 7. Ewers This is based on guys like Sanders, Beck, Leonard, Ward, Pratt, etc…going back to school.
@@kxr203 I loved what I've seen from Penix, but I don't think he will be very good off schedule. In today's NFL an elite level QB needs to be athletic, make plays off schedule and with his legs. Penix largely due to his extensive injury history doesn't seem to play that way anymore while Nix is having practically just as much success while playing at a much more athletic level. These two are very close IMO but I give the nod to Nix.
@@ronaldtillman173Nix isn't half the passer Penix is. Nix makes short throws that go a distance. Nix is not a pocket QB. Penix demolishes Nix in the pocket. Nix is the better runner but, even with 2 knee surgeries, Penix can still move and manipulate the pocket better than Nix.
This class of QBs just boils my brain. I know I'm not a great scout or anything and I'm not dedicating hours of time every day to watching film. I've just never seen this class in the way that I hear everyone else talking about it. Some talented kids, but I have never seen generational.
Just watched the Caleb Williams piece (still in the process of watching the whole video)... do you guys think any of Caleb's comments about where he wants to get drafted (he says he only wants to play for certain teams, wants ownership stake in the team that drafts him, etc) will have any impact on how NFL team view him as a prospect? Especially now that he may or may not be the surefire lock for #1 overall that he might have been before the season started?
It’s not good plus it doesn’t help that there are still glaring flaws in his game as pointed out in this video. If Caleb doesn’t re focus I could definitely see him falling out of the QB1 spot
Obviously if it's true and he actually does push for it then it will become a talking point. But right now it doesn't carry a lot of substance imo. Unless I missed something most of those headlines feels like they've come from his dad. If Caleb's in front of cameras and mics saying this stuff after the season, then that's a different story
my current rankings: #1 Caleb Williams #2. Riley Leonard #3. Blake Shapen #4. Joe Milton #5. Brady Cook #6 Drake Maye. is it possible everyone has their own personal QB evaluation criteria? this is why i say we do. from a numbers and analytics perspective you can have these questions about Celeb's game. you can do that with any QB on any draft year, there's something not in their favor for some reason. i just watch the film breakdown the player, breakdown the traits. i couldn't care less what the numbers are for the most part. from an traits and mechanics perspective, i can pick up red flags on a guy, no numbers could explain. people need to understand the issue with Zach Wilson, that made you have questions even predraft with him wasn't just that he was a spread guy with no reads, there was mechanical flaws, inconsistent velocity, a narrow base, a lack of footwork and pocket mobility as a skill, that CJ Stroud by comparison, would lap him on and wow its just so strange and definitely "random" that CJ looks like the better player. i can watch Caleb have a horrible game statistically, watch drake Maye have an amazing game statistically and still think Caleb had the better game because i hardly could care less what the numbers are for the most part. i'm watching drake Maye play a good game with really concerning mechanical bad habits that i see on a regular basis and this to me is key. there's some people that don't care for footwork. I've heard either Dane Brugler or matt miller say they don't care about footwork over talent, and whichever said that isn't alone and that's how Zach Wilson goes #2. this is how AR has the numbers he does in a short amount of time, but yet he physically translates to the NFL effectively. biomechanical consistency and instincts, make all the difference especially under live fire because guy rely on their instincts to play fast.
Y’all are crazy for putting Williams and May ahead of Penix. He’s way more polished than both. Y’all worship escape artists when he’s running the most pro style offense in college football and you’re saying he has ball placement issues? Dude drops dimes over the shoulder 12 times a game. He had 4 absolute touch pass dimes against Oregon alone. Polk over the shoulder right corner was insane. His literal strength is deep ball touch passes. Love to hear some examples on the accuracy issues cause I’m at every game and i never see it.
For fucks sake... for a few years now caleb has been flawless and throwing with anticipation and now after one bad performance ina big game, he doesn't do that enough. Make it make sense... as a bears fan this shit kills me. Can we please just have a prospect that's available that throws ppl open and throws it before the WR is open and doesnt hold the ball forever...., WHY IS THIS SO MUCH TO ASK FOR 😢😢 Fields can't do it... now caleb isn't doing it. Life makes me so angry sometimes lol 🙈
Didn't mean to! I like Bo a lot. QB3 for me right now. Guess I felt I've said that so much I didn't want people to think I'm a broken record lol. I thought he played well in that Washington game
@@ReallyGotMotionnot that lazy. Fields doesn’t see the field well, does poorly under pressure, and hangs onto the ball. Why replace one qb with another who does the same thing? Based on these guys talking about Maye it sounds like he’s the guy the bears should be coveting right now.
First off, Love the pod. With that said. WHO LET THEM COOK AFTER WILLIAMS AND MAYE? I don't get the Cam ward has a weak arm narrative. Anyone would struggle under pressure when that UCLA EDGE duo is breathing down your neck. Jayden aint it. Thats all i got on him.
That’s the world we live in. A over-reactionary one where the latest game of the week everyone forms an opinion and says with conviction this or that about a player instead of there entire body of work. It’s what is happening in Chicago with Fields everyone looks at the Broncos and Washington games and says Fields is the guy but ignoring his entire body of work. Unfortunately bias exists and everyone wants to have the hot take or they just can’t admit hey this guy had 1 bad game or this guy had 2 good games and give context why that happened. Funniest thing to me is people when evaluating QB’s specifically they never breakdown what actually matters and that is the defensive scheme the opponent is running and if the QB can differentiate between man, zone, match and different coverages within those instead they just go right to blitz because it’s the most obvious to the casual viewer/fan.
The most touted of prospects I usually agree/jump on that train, but Caleb Williams is the most overrated prospect sports has seen in the past half decade. His ego to play ratio is just not where it needs to be.
Caleb Williams will be the biggest draft bust of all time. Worse than JaMarcus Russell because a team will pass on better QB’s to take him. He has the entitlement and demands list of a five-time Super Bowl champion despite having played zero snaps in the NFL
A rookie review show/a do over 2023 NFL Draft show would be perfect right now, especially with how well CJ Stroud is playing and how Quentin Johnston isn't doing anything.
God he's been a disappointment.
Up until his last game I think Michael Mayer had like 10 yards total on the season.
I love this idea
Sounds like an complete short term approach. Just compare how Mac Jones and Trevor Lawrence looked after week 6 in their rookie season...
@adrianbuck8772 yeah, you could use that as an example but Mac was in a way better situation than T Law was. Nobody even looks at 2021 for Trevor, everyone just gives him a pass for that year and rightfully so.
I’m not pumping brakes on Johnston at all
Drake Maye is closer to situation proof then Caleb Williams but Caleb Williams has a higher ceiling. I think Drake Mayes ceiling is high enough that the higher floor is good enough to at least make it a worthwhile debate which is the better pick
Yep
OF COURSE YOU FEEL THAT WAY, BUT CALEB WILLIAMS IS THE BEST QB IN THIS DEAFT
To me, Penix is a bit of a throwback archetype of qb. He’s a true pocket gunslinger with the arm to make any throw on the field. He reminds me of Matthew stafford and that’s his ceiling imo. I’m a fan
There’s something nostalgic about a strong arm lefty throwing zingers and being this good gives me Vick vibes without the running
Would like to see him on the Vikings behind cousins for a year
Not the same arm talent though

That is not how I saw things at all. Both are very good.
I agree. Bo is a very good, smart, experienced college qb. I’m not seeing anything that makes me think he would be an nfl star
Penix and Maye are the most interesting QBs for the Cardinals IMO. However, it looks like Kyler is coming back for week 7, possibly. So, we probably won’t be in a position to draft either now.
Kyler will be rusty though so it will take him some weeks like it did with Burrow and Watson

Question - why did you switch Penix and Nix? My list goes like this:
1. Williams
2. Maye
3. Penix
4. Nix
5. McCarthy
6. Daniels
7. Ewers
This is based on guys like Sanders, Beck, Leonard, Ward, Pratt, etc…going back to school.
What are your guys thoughts on a QB like Jaxon Dart out of Ole Miss??
Next year he coming out
Best part about JJ is he just turned 20 Penix is going to be 24...
I need the Seahawks to draft Penix it just seems like a perfect fit
You think they’d let him sit behind Geno.. or part ways ?
@@thecarter8700 trade him to Atlanta
Not if the Vikes grab him first...
I wouldn’t move on from Geno rn. Penix ceiling is probably the level Geno is playing at rn.
@@wardog211 that might be true but you’re paying Penix 1/6 of what Geno is getting payed
Your description of Williams sounds like Fields😅😅
Just watched the Caleb Williams piece (still in the process of watching the whole video)... do you guys think any of Caleb's comments about where he wants to get drafted (he says he only wants to play for certain teams, wants ownership stake in the team that drafts him, etc) will have any impact on how NFL team view him as a prospect? Especially now that he may or may not be the surefire lock for #1 overall that he might have been before the season started?
There's no chance I would be drafting someone that is making those types of demands before they are even an NFL rookie
@@jaisriram295yup. Seems like character issues to me
It’s not good plus it doesn’t help that there are still glaring flaws in his game as pointed out in this video.
He never said that
where does Avery Johnson rank on the 2026/2027 big board
I like my quarterbacks BIG. Drake Maye is my guy
How many below 6"2 QBs have become 2nd contract franchise QBs
*Trigger warning for bad puns*
Think about Drake Maye on the Raiders. Maye to Mayer in Las MAYEgas.
Will they get a top 3 pick?
What’s the thoughts on Dillon Gabriel?
LOOK BACK AT THE 2023 NFL DRAFT
Which one in your list is most likely to come back to school next year?
There is only one thing to do to resolve this problem… 3 pods a week 😂
would be interested to see something on spencer rattler next time you guys do this, he’s been improving but I think he’s still a r3-r6 pick atm
nothing about Penix's wonky throwing motion?
my current rankings: #1 Caleb Williams #2. I've heard either Dane Brugler or matt miller say they don't care about footwork over talent, and whichever said that isn't alone and that's how Zach Wilson goes #2. this is how AR has the numbers he does in a short amount of time, but yet he physically translates to the NFL effectively. biomechanical consistency and instincts, make all the difference especially under live fire because guy rely on their instincts to play fast.
dont over think it it caleb #1
Caleb Williams will be Mr Irrelevant in 2024 Draft
I think losing Jordan Addison has effected Caleb Williams
They have lots of other weapons
@@captainspartan04they’re not like Addison tho
I don't think Quinn Ewers can transfer without graduating since he already transferred from OSU.
He can it’s just if the ncaa will clear him. They did with JT Daniels
Is mertz viable as a day 3 backup, or does he need to get his real estate license
He's playing his best ball this year. Wasn't on my priority list this summer, but certainly gotta watch him now
Give Pratt a little slack. Once his knee and timing is back he will be back as good as before. He is a cerebral and true leader
No way y’all did a whole QB episode and didnt discuss my guy Shedeur Sanders
Shedeur the goat be he prob doing another year of college
What about rattler
For fucks sake... for a few years now caleb has been flawless and throwing with anticipation and now after one bad performance ina big game, he doesn't do that enough. Make it make sense... as a bears fan this shit kills me. Can we please just have a prospect that's available that throws ppl open and throws it before the WR is open and doesnt hold the ball forever...., WHY IS THIS SO MUCH TO ASK FOR 😢😢 Fields can't do it... now caleb isn't doing it. Life makes me so angry sometimes lol 🙈
Did they skip Bo Nix?
Didn't mean to! I like Bo a lot. QB3 for me right now. Guess I felt I've said that so much I didn't want people to think I'm a broken record lol. I thought he played well in that Washington game
Where is Bo Nix?
Maye is best. Penix 2nd if he can stay upright
Bo Nix?
Caleb has the same problems as Justin Fields and I really hope the Bears don’t draft him.
Lazy take there
@@ReallyGotMotionnot that lazy. Fields doesn’t see the field well, does poorly under pressure, and hangs onto the ball. Why replace one qb with another who does the same thing? Based on these guys talking about Maye it sounds like he’s the guy the bears should be coveting right now.
I HOPE THE BEARS DONT DRAFT HIM ALSO, THE GIANTS ARE A BETTER FIT
Carson beck take ?
$EX ADDICT TWITTER COMMUNITY WHEN?! IM ITCHING!
Tf?
Didn't even bother including Bo Nix?
Shedeur Sanders
He staying at Colorado
I always worry about QBs that aren't over 6'3 in the NFL because of the size of the linesmen and LBs and seeing over the players into the backfield
So last week you took Caleb over all except 5 NFL QBs....this week he's not team proof. Bros please don't become a joke.
I don’t think he’s that overrated .. But same as TLaw, Luck, etc … His future literally lands in what coach he gets and what team
What ego?
The negatives you talk about with Caleb are identical to Justin Fields. Uh oh
No rattler love?
Sooo we just not gonna talk about bo nix
Caleb Williams will be the biggest draft bust of all time. Worse than JaMarcus Russell because a team will pass on better QB’s to take him.
He has the entitlement and demands list of a five-time Super Bowl champion despite having played zero snaps in the NFL
im so out on Caleb. I think him opening his mouth is opening the door for others to take the top spot. Only a bad org will succumb to his demands
Let's go.........
Told ya Penix > Caleb
😎
JJ McCarthy is never going to be the hero of Michigan offense that is not how Jim Harbaugh wants his offense to win
NO BO???
Is the Bears better off by taking MHJ and Olu and waiting on this generational QB and give Justin Fields his 4th year.
Whoever the Bears pick will be a bust
Learn from Stroud/Young. Maye is #1 QB. Williams hysteria needs to stop please.
Williams is a flop
