I have a question not related to this video. Do you have a tutorial for beginners on the care and maintenance of a sewing machine? Also can you recommend a good sewing machine that is not too expensive for simple projects (mainly coasters, placemats etc.) to sell? I am a novice at sewing and would like advice on anything, as I am thinking of selling on Etsy for some income.

That fabric is so you! Great little jacket, and yes, no sewing when tired. Everyone has to learn that painful lesson. Some of us have to relearn it!

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  2 роки тому

Denise, I raise my hand for the re-learning part - he he, that's me :) I really love the jacket, it is just when you're tired you make silly mistakes that make the whole experience less than smooth :) But I looooooove the way it turned out - so happy!

I have a 'spring/fall' jacket that I love. It goes with so many things including different colored t-shirts that I can wear with it. This video gives me confidence that I might be able to clone my jacket. I believe I have enough fabric and I can't wait to begin my pattern.
When I first watched your video those months ago, I knew I was tucking it away in my memory...for a reason.
    Thank you!

I really enjoy this new format of showing your behind the scenes process! It’s relieving to see that even with your level of experience it’s totally normal to have curveballs, makes me feel less judgmental about my own attempts haha
Looking forward to the assembly video! It’s really difficult to find well fitting jackets at affordable prices, so that’s generally a really interesting pattern topic! :)

Ka Rin - yay! As always, great to hear from you (and I still want to try that stretchy thread that you mentioned, so curious!) That is what I want to do from now on - take you on a journey with me - bumps, success, problem-solving - we all go through it, but you don't see it in an edited step-by-step tutorial. And you're right - totally normal to have curveballs and I want us to experience it together so that the next time is less scary! :)

What a fab video! I really love these recent videos where you take us on the journey you had making it. It’s super relatable. I wish there were more sewing videos like this. I am such an unabashed fan - love your process, teaching and results. I have a neoprene jacket by the Gap that I bought years ago. I didn't realize it was made of neoprene until I watched your video! I Like your black one I love it. It washes like a dream, it always looks great and it's the perfect weight for our weather (I'm in Victoria BC Canada) which is rainy in the spring. It has princess shaping and fits me like a glove. Watching this video was brilliant. Now I'm thinking I want all the neoprene jackets especially one with such a beautiful print like yours. You always make up such pretty feminine clothes!

Perfect color, print, and pattern for you.
I love to take apart my old fave clothes to see how they are made and try to sew them back together.
My grandmother would do that for me and then make two new ones and of course put the old one back together.
I’m trying to recreate some of my fave items and recreate them with linen. It’s a such a shifty fabric.
I loved your dyed blue pants recreation.

Bravo, Alisa, on a sensational make!!! I love your jacket and I am a big fan of scuba knits (well, some of them, anyway!). Your ability to dive into this project with purpose and confidence. creates a sense of “I can do it to” in other sewists. I honestly don’t believe you are going to miss pockets in your jacket as most likely it will be worn with a bottom that has them. I had to laugh when you were looking for the neck pattern piece….yeah…it was a little funny! ❤️

We all make mistakes. I have to make a tester for both sides of me; because, I am very lop-sided. Your jacket is beautiful.
Day before yesterday, I was trying to get one of my quilt tops quilted. The machine quilting was not going right.
Yesterday, I spent most of the day picking my quilting out. My fingers got so dry that the skin on my right thumb, index, and middle fingers cracked open. I got blood on my quilt. I decided that the backing fabric and the thread that I used was the problem. I then went through my stash and found a better backing fabric. Now I can quilt with machine quilting thread and hopefully get the look I want.
Today, my fingers were to sore to work on a quilt; so, I went on a needed shopping trip instead. I bought a seam ripper with a magnifying glass built on it.
Tomorrow, I will tape up my sore fingers and get that guilt together and quilted

Yvonne, hi! So sorry to hear that you are finding it hard to navigate, but it is really easy. Just go to the Membership tab, there you will see "click to show perks" and click on it. You will see links for perks. Click on the Instruction sheets. You will end up on a Google drive with 4 folders. In the templates folder you will find small templates - there is not templates for cotton towels as it is...just a rectangle, no need for template. There is an Instruction sheets for how to draft a bucket hat in the Instruction Sheets folder. There is a template for the fabric basket in the templates folder. There is no need for template for a bandana - those are just rectangles and I give measurements in the video. Please look around the Google Drive - everything that needs a template is there and for you to use. If you are using Apple and you don't see Membership tab - just go to the Community tab and scroll until you see Members Extra video post, click on the video and open the infobox - all links are there! And have fun in your sewing journey - it was great to have You! :)
