Defender capsules I really like, but poison mostly seemed pretty meh to me, and I don't think it's affected by any upgrades you can do. Cluster grenades seem way too late in the tech tree, I feel like I have artillery by the time I research them. Or at the very least the tank.
Mid game, grenades and defender capsules are pretty much all you need to go on the offensive. Jiggle left and right when attacking big worms to throw off their aim. Late game, destroyer capsules and power armor with 6 lasers will melt even mega biter bases with 95%+ evolution. Just do loops around the perimeter, slowly working inward. If you're impatient, lob some nukes.
can you believe i had never built artillery because i didnt know about manual targeting until i saw yama kara using them a couple of weeks back. i was using laser turrets with personal roboport for repairs backed up with flames for deathworld. i didnt know about solid fuel until fairly late in my seablock run. these are forehead slapping moments.
Comon, those are not bases. I get to deal with entire walls of alliens. Only option I have are nukes. And even those are too small. I installed nuclear artillery, still takes a lot of time to set up the train etc, I think I will increase the range of the artillery cause half of the time I spend killing LoL
Make 5 spidertrons, use remote to link them together, full with personnal lasers and rockets (avoid explosive and nuke as they can friendly-fire), then run over everything!
More like 3 Alternative Weapons that some don't consider using. Tactics would be something different, as it is the same in every option you showed, chuck stuff at the enemy. :-P That said, what works best for me is using Auto Fill Mod and just spam Turrets into the biters. Crazy effective, feels a bit like cheating sometimes. ^^
Thanks for the video! I have never tried poison and slow capsules and i never even researched (or im not aware) cluster grenades so this video taught me new things! In mid-late game i used tank and high-explosive rockets as a main armament. Right now i made a new world and i started a pretty big offensive on bitters. I havent started production of blavk science (cuz im too lazy to do) so im just running around with my car and gunning down the enemy. If correctly done, can be effective. Even against med bitters. But yeah, i should start with black science. Thanks for the video!
As I'm prone to throw grenades at my feet I wouldn't be using clusters. The defender bots are indeed underappriciated and VERY usefull at least to late game even in cojunction with spidertron.
I've never used any of the capsules nor the cluster grenades in any playthrough. Granted I usually have biters on fairly low difficulty setting, but this is great to know! Does anyone know of any mods that can do things like auto-deploy capsules when you are close to biters? I like automation, even in combat!
I'm the same way for whatever reason, I have never used capsules or grenades in any playthrough. I actually use mods to make the biters insane, but I lean towards lasers, fire, and artillery.

Put mines on the nest and around player- it is most OP solution. Also you can do it from car at full speed
Grenades in general are perfect for clearing trees.

As you said - I've been playing Factorio for a few years now and never considered this way of fighting... only ever turrets and artillery...
I heard that marathon mode makes you use every piece of technology, just because of how much it takes to get any progress... never tried it though...

@@MSpotatoes Hah, yeah I did a similiar thing in a previous play. Bob's Enemies, Natural Evolution AND Rampant all enabled. I did not last long...
