That's what I did like about the whole story Stefan tried so hard to get Damon back after the Sybil got into his mind and as soon as Damon starts to recover Stefan goes the other way
I'm so surprised he didn't just kill the inmates cleaning up but I instantly knew the minute that necklace went out the window he had to go back for it

in the most random way, yeah, i hate how they made it seem like Elena was into Damon the moment he gave her the necklace on her birthday when Stefan went away to keep Elena and Damon safe. then 3 seasons later, that was all of a sudden the moment Elena was in love with Damon when it was ALWAYS clear when Elena was still human, she would've never dated Damon.. bhahaa just laughable. Damon is not good for Elena never was until the very last episode where he became human. And even when he became human, Damon is still Damon, he couldn't manipulate anymore, relish in his vampirism, so i guess he was most of the time miserable, so Delena ending is the most fucked up shit ever Delena should've always been a one night stand the whole couple thing wasn't cute, just messed up fan service bull crap.. after s2, when Stefan gave Damon another chance to live, he should'Ve still stayed Damon, but with a rule and that was not to kill anymore, that would have made Damon unresistable, thats a Damon i could've enjoyed further more. At this point i must admit that fan base messed up especially u Delena suckers that always requested DE being the cute couple inspite of u always saying how boring SE was but it never worked..

Have you noticed the only reason Stefan turns ripper it's because he saving somebody's life so he makes a deal that makes him become a ripper first to save Damon when he was bit by tyler werewolf. So in exchange for klaus blood to save Damon he became a ripper to get it. He turned off his humanity to save his niece and now he's a ripper again he sold his soul to save the twins

The necklace became Damon's in 3x5. That's why they made a big deal of it in Ghost World. What it represents to Damon is every bit the reason he tears Sybil's heart out. They purposefuly threw both brothers back in their original roles in preparation for Damon's moment of forgiveness. Stefan being the ripper that forced Damon to become a vampire because he didn't want to be alone. Unfortunately for Stefan, he sealed his fate when he killed Enzo.
Actually killing enzo was what stefan needed for his redemption, thanks to that action he became human and had a chance to do the right thing, and so he did..
This song is so perfect for this episode, this brotherhood, and this show. Reading the lyrics after this episode you could almost believe Michael wrote the song about the Salvatore brothers.

Notice every time stefan lose control over his blood addiction damon is always looking at him with sadness in his face. He is never amused or proud to see his brother like this. He just look dejected and sad cause he knows stefan is better than that and that he will be submerged by guilt and he will gonna be depressed af later.
I hate that he never kept the promise to help him with his problem.
I’m not sure if damons belief he could help him with his blood addiction had any basis- he tried. And I don’t know if he could have helped him, it’s likely that he would not have been able to control his addiction. But also there were too many people getting in the way of Damon’s attempts to help him-including Stefan, with their moralizing and shaming of the whole situation of enjoying blood without shame while still controlling it. If only Damon could have been there when Stefan was turning, he perhaps could have taught him like he taught Elena. But most addictions, If were relating to real life ones, simply cannot be cured or controlled- but for an addiction that is survival, like blood and food, harm reduction and be utilized.

The necklace is an ELENA thing not stelena or delena or even Rebekah. The whole Rebekah necklace story was told once and then Rebekah never even mentioned it again, but the necklace has been with Elena since season one, yea it symbolizes her with stefan and her damon but in the end it's her necklace it represents HER. It doesnt represent Elenas relationships, it's something that belonged to her that Damon wants to hold on to.

Stefan is written as the better vampire, Damon is written as the better man. That's why Damon's humanity is written opposite Stefan's ripper gene, and why they switch them back and forth throughout the series. Every time you see Stefan going into Ripper mode, you can expect to see Damon's humanity at the same time. This starts in the very first season. Stefan is the vampire nearly killing Amber, while Damon is the man dancing with Elena at the Mystic Falls pageant. They escalate as the seasons move along, so by the time the series ends, Stefan is the one trying to destroy Mystic Falls...which is exactly what Damon's intention was when the show first started. They purposefully timed 8x7 so that Damon's humanity started flickering in before Stefan flipped his switch. Their friendships and storylines are written accordingly. That's why they intro characters like Rose. They're meant to push Damon to embrace who he was before he became a vampire. The better man. Same with Klaus pushing Stefan to embrace his ripper side. Because being worse as a vampire is being the better vampire. You even see this with their marriages. At the open, Damon is in love with a vampire while Stefan is in love with a human. At the end, Stefan marries a vampire and Damon marries a human. Few fans are willing to accept this, but it's the reason Elena fell in love with Damon and stood by him all the while. When the better vampire gets cured of his vampirism, his eyes are opened to the reality that he got his brother back... and he'll die so that brother can live. The vervain necklace has its own storyline. It's protecting Damon from Sybil's influence just as it protected Elena from Damon's when he tried to kiss her. So when Damon smacks Sybil upside the head, it's because he was given a choice. He's choosing to fight for Elena.

When she and Stefan argued about saving Damon from Rebekah later in the season, she was afraid to admit them because she was afraid of losing him as a friend. She tried to talk to Stefan about Damon at the 20s dance, but he didn't want to know. She tried to break up with Stefan in the finale, but felt it wasn't the right time, so she decided to wait. Her death and transition to vampire forced her to wait even longer.

It changed Damon to the extreme because he spent so long loving Katherine and hating the world because of it. Season 6 Elena shows what happened to Damon. Fans just have to imagine Elena going 145 years without Alaric's compulsion. The "border lurker" would've become very much like Damon.

Stefan gave it to her to protect her from Damon... but after that it was always Damon bringing it back to her like this is pretty obviously more important to Delena's story than to Stelena's. Stefan gave her the necklace but she had more scenes with damon with it, she also fell in love because of it. it started out being a stelena thing but ended up being all about Delena..
