If you can turn the lens back to the 18mm position, the screw will appear in the hole. The screw will hide under the ring when zooming out. I fixed mine two weeks ago when it was jammed. I had tightened that small screw and the lens works perfectly now. Took me less than one minute. Good luck.
Thanks for that. This lens was completely jammed at 270mm but I decided to brute-force it. It clicked and then returned to the 18mm position and I've now tightened the screw. Problem solved it seems. Thanks for watching and your comment. :)
On mine the lens lock was activated but i forgot, and i turned the zoom ring real hard and crack ..the ring rotated but no zoom action ..now a rattle of plastic chunk inside ..i can zoom of i pull on the lens barrel with my hand ..focus and vc still work ..but no proper zoom action ..dont know how to fix it ..obviously i broke the lock mechanism but after watching this video it looks pretty tuff to fix
Mine worked for a while after this but sadly the focus started to degrade and it would cost me more to have the lens repaired than to buy another so I've done neither for the moment. Its a pity because I liked the flexibility of the range of that lens. Good luck!
Hi, I'm thinking of buying a used tamron 24 70mm lens at a very good price (half of what other used ones are worth). The problem is that it was cleaned of fungi and from that moment the automatic focus works but it does not focus. The lens is currently clean, the VC is working, and the manual focus and zoom are working properly. Should you take advantage of this opportunity? Is the af fix expensive? can fungi come out again?
