Doing a "azimuthal" Rotary axis for the daily tracking simplifies things so much (so many of the 2-ax systems must compound things with X/Y rather than Az/Elev)- the elevation really only needs seasonal adjustment in most cases (solar doesn't need perfect tracking), even just adjusting twice during the day makes a significant difference. I have "thought" of a garden gazebo with a rotable solar array as the roof - (2nd axis for seasonality) (using a large pipe ring as the rail with sets of trolley wheels - for the ""coaster" elements.... ) One day, other "projects" to get sorted mean while.)
Nice! solid installation! I'm a commercial solar installer and have one suggestion for ya: the small metal clamp that sits between panels to hold them to your frame would be stronger if turned 90°. that way the two tabs on the ends fit snuggly into the gap between the panels and act as spacers

I see that things are wrapping up (as much as they ever do), if you have any more concrete mixing try a low speed high torque drill and a 5 gallon pail. It makes quick easy work and little clean up. Ron.
The easiest way to mix sackcrete is to roll it back and forth on a 6 by 12 ft tarp. I've mixed over 100 bags this way. I call it pull-pull-dump. Keep it stiff enough that it forms a ball in your hand.

I did 30 watts and tried to power a shed light at night. How much for the 1k? 3) Will you eventually motorize it to collect the optimum amount of energy? 4) Have a great summer.
+Steve S I just bought a cheap stick welder used. I'm not great at it but it's very useful. Panel prices have come way down. These were less than $1 a watt. It's cheaper to buy more panels than adding a motorized tracking system. You have a great summer too!

Great idea ! Just curious what the Dimensions of your panels are? And weight? I've got 12 100 watt 26x40 inch panels that would weigh about 200 lbs Together. If i put them all together it would be about 14 ft long and 6.5 ft tall . Do you think it would be to big and heavy?

I'm curious to know how well this mount has held up over the four plus years since you constructed it? Upon closer views of the material used, it looks as though your steel it is thin and won't withstand high winds or heavy snow loads. Did you ever get the actuators on to self propel the stand? I upgraded the main cross pipe to a thicker wall pipe but otherwise its working well. I never intended to automate it. I just rotate it manually on days when I need more power.
DIY is all I see! Clearly there are no commercial vendors for these systems because everyone is having to build them themselves. You'd think where there's a market, there's an industry to fulfill that need, but I guess not. Not everyone is a "do-it-yourself" capable person, we'll just have to keep buying electricity from the city.
Oh there are vendors. Living off grid isn't chosen because it's easy. Self sustainability necessitates many, many diy skills, by the whole "tribe". Nice build! 👍
