The power of “temporary” is amazing! I use it all the time.
You Know It!!!!!😆😆😆🤘
That ghetto a.. build looks great and brought out the brown that matches the yellow in the PV modules . Excellent production . May the solar be with you .😊🤗
Hey you are right lol Thanks Man and may the solar be with you!😄💥🤘
Great timing! Just snagged 8 used panels and was looking for affordable mounting ideas… time to mosey over to my wood pile and find some lumber with “patina” 😂
Only way to do it! Patina💥💥💥💥💥😆
Bumping up your sound effects budget is really paying off! A kwh is a kwh and I love the three R's approach to life. Long Live DIY!
Gotta add a few surprises here and there lol Long Live DIY!!!💥🤘
Good job. I repurpose as much as possible, making my used stuff look as nice as possible. Your framing design is also very nice.
Love it. Why work so hard and spend so much on an eye sore and have the same result. Wish I could get to your level of acceptance. Inspiring…
I love how you’re quite happy to do a sh*t job! I mean that positively - it’s full on recycling, and if it works, it works. I build my systems up very similarly, and any costs just eat into the whole point of getting ‘free’ solar. If it’s a solid piece of wood or cable then there’s nothing wrong in using it. Later on when I find a bargain I upgrade the parts that were a bit rough. Well done, nice work! 😊
Sometimes shit jobs just work lol and I am perfectly happy doing it!😆🤘
Andy is proud of you!!! I know I am... Great job with "laying around stuff!"
Thanks!😁💥🤘
I am glad I hopped onto your channel
I was thinking of buying solar panels gradually adding them to my house
Thats what I am doing, little at a time!🤘
Nice alt ending! LOL! I have 6k of panels set up temporarily laying flat on the ground propped up on one side with cinder blocks. Not the ideal angle, but it keeps the battery charged! 😂 I should prolly get more cinder blocks. Funny, I was thinking about a 2nd set facing west earlier today. Oh. Oh. But I do have a smaller 600w array that gets afternoon shade I could move... hmmm.
LOL at that alt ending. I just had to throw that in there! 6k worth of panels anywhere in the sun should keep your battery charged! Yes I think you should move the 600w setup immediately😆
Happy 4th! Nothing is as permanent as a temporary solution! 🤣
I also got a holiday video up, nothing too major just stuff I had gotten that I wanted to share.
The biggest thing is really the magnetic cables. They are a whole different realm of cables. I'll never go back!
Getting the extra watts eh? Probably also a secret plan for gaining leverage in buget spending debates... 😄
It was about time you setup a bussbar for your inverter lol, certainly a good stepping point for the final setup. Sometimes it is beneficial to get things close to how the final version will be with parts you have already in order to make sure you get the right parts the first time.
Thanks for the entertaining update video, can't wait until it is finished!
Happy 4th!!💥💥💥 Yeah that seems to be the case moar often then not lol. I will take a look at your vid. Magnetic cables sound interesting! Yeah so those buss bars lol I 100% needed to get all the stuff hanging off the inverter battery post removed and on something else. Yeah I would agree, A LOT of things go temporary in order to make sure things work, then can go into a final install. I would like to make minimal holes where needed the first time! 😆💥
Nice build. I could hear the booster rocket kick in while you lift lol.
Thanks Mate! I gotta have a few hidden gems in there🤭🤣
As i started to watch this video, i was thinking it would be really great to hav some banter going with Andy. And to my surprise right at the end - their it was, fantastic, made my day. From sunny ( cold ) Australia, Alex 👍
BOOOOOOOOM💥💥💥💥🤣🤣🤣
Nice job. Maybe an MC4 Connector vid? Crimp & Solder or Just Crimp! Will the controversy ever end!!! :)
I’m impressed Joe. 😂
Thanks Man. Just a normal day it seems like here lol....Let see if this works😆🤘
LOL Joey u did a great job, hope Lauren wasn't too upset 😅🎉🎉
Thank You! Nah she didnt even notice🤭
Still 😆 🤣
wife is going to love it bravo Joe....
I knew youd Love it!😆🤘
Thinking of one of those sig solar mounts for next year's array expansion. Good show on the temp mount & hey, nobody's going to steal it. 👍
"Rustic" love it
Good job Joe!!!
Thanks!💥🤘
The worse thing is Dorthy could show up and your neighbour will own your panels. lol
They wouldnt know, a big ass tree fell a few years ago in the back yard and they didnt know for months. They never maintain anything. Backyard is so overgrown I wouldnt be surprised if homeless people were camping back there lol
Thanks
COOP
...
Happy 4th of July to you and yours.
💥💥💥💥Happy 4th to you!!!!!
“See dear, I told you I had a use for that wood pile that’s been sitting there for the last 6 years…”
100%🤣🤣🤣💥💥💥
Now just beware the “I told you so” when the thing falls apart and damages your panels…
(I would go back and install some hurricane ties in the corners to provide added durability)
Like #314 very resourceful, quick math was 6.5 kWatt/hr now? Excellent!
I think Im going to shift some design for battery storage away from Taj-Ma-Haul and to… a Freightliner 55 rated to Class 6! I’ll be able to put 200-400 kWatt/hr and water in the step van freeing up that weight from Taj-Ma-Haul.
Then electrify the Freightliner.
I might sell my Tesla CyberTruck reservation as it won’t be able to hold as much?!
My panels have been "temporarily" leaning against the south wall of my house for about 8 years now. They do work though!
I would do the same if needed!😁🤘
i love your diy. so simple for U. need to try finaly by my self.
Thanks! You should get after it!😄🤘
You give me hope that I can do it too 😂
You Can Do It!😆💥🤘
Yeah
Hold on.....Hold My Beer !!! Working on Ghetto stuff here also ! lol
Always happening here lol🤷♂️😆
Can you show how you programmed the 60 amp charge controller?
Yeah I think I could make that happen! I mean honestly its just setting the voltages to your battery your using but I think I could make a quick vid on that!💥🤘
Nothing more permanent than a temporary hookup!
100%😆😆🤘
Andy could build this in shorts and a t-shirt in the middle of winter. Are you even trying?!
🤣🤣🤣 I tried SOOOO HARD😁💥🤘
How's the battery cabinets coming? ^^
0:17 DO IT! 🤪
💥💥💥😆🤘
Nice job recycling what you have. Should pass code... :-P
🤠Might as well use it. Been sittin there for YEARS😆😆 100% meets code🤏😆😆
5Kw damn wish i had the space to do that
Heck, if you wanna make that scrap rack survive longer, spray some paint on it, or slather some epoxy on the really badly eaten lumber.
I sprayed it for bugs.....does that count😲😁 meh its a temp setup and is working fan freakin tastic. Now I just need an array facing east for that morning light. Only place that gets a clear path from the trees(at 9:30) is on the roof.🤠
I would be intersted to know how much it settles into the ground and if the angle changes in a month or so
Ill have to take a lookc and let ya know💥🤘
Lmao 🤣 but wait…… WHAT?!? No hydrogen ballon popping for the 4th?
I was gonna get it going but didnt have time🙄🤣💥
It has been a month. Has the wind flipped this over yet?
Not yet. Even had a nice BIG storm roll through. Didnt move.....💁♂️😲😆
That wouldn't survive the here.@@AveRage_Joe
Dude, why were you farting all over the video? 😂😂 Great video by the way.
Just seemed like a good place for it😆🤘
It won't meet the structural code for wind loading. A summer squall could toss that whole thing into the neighbor's yard. You need to add about 5000 lbs of ballast to hold the rack onto the ground.
100% wouldnt meet any code! Ballast would be a good idea for sure!💥🤘
14:48 lol @OffGridGarageAustralia
🤭😄😄
Anderson clips > MC4 connectors. #YouCan'tChangeMyMind
Hey Joe I've not seen your videos for long need to backdate buddy.........I still wish you could send the 12kw growatt 🙂asap to me in Africa. ..... good work sir
Well what happend? Did they not show up on your timeline or not interested...🤔If you cant get the 12k growatt you should look into the orient power LV6548. Seem like they ship all over!
Forget people having their trampoline wrapped around the chimney of the neighbor's house after a windstorm, why not wrap a solar panel array around their chimney instead? ;)
They wouldnt notice lol. Tree fell in there back yard years ago. Took them weeks or more to see it amongst the over grown yard😲
How did I miss yesterday's show, Joe? Did you hop over here to get my spare panels, Joe? Same wattage on my panels😮. But cloudy day here still making 3 KW middle of winter, boom.😅
UA-cam Loves me thats how! If I could get 3kw in winter......
Far out man
4:51 fart?
There are a few in the video😆🤭
@@AveRage_Joe good thing this is not Virtual Reality... HAHAHAHAHAHA!
😆😆😆
Get off the grid, would ya. 😂
Need moar solar🙄🤣
Solar power in the wings 🪽🌝 EcoFlow has been good on improving their performance and programming.
I was wondering about the capacity test I did on mine. Maybe they will add an update to fix/allow more capacity?
56v from 2007 ya I'm not buying it 😅
Remember… temporary that works becomes permanent until it fails.
Awesome!
Couldnt have said it better!💥🤘
I'd probably use a sheet metal nibbler to cut away the edge flap a little where the screw holes go instead of bending it, but I reckon this is a proper hillbilly solar mount! hahaha
100% Hillbilly😆😆🤘
I am so Liking that SMASH button (14:05)!! Nice job and it works. Can't really see it once panels are mounted. Hope the neighbors don't complain. Happy 4th!! Thanks for sharing
THANK YOU!!!! Neighbors havent even noticed one of there big ass trees fell in there back yard. Im Good LOL😆😆🤘
With a high cost of electricity everybody in his uncle is doing solar nowadays. Pretty soon the power companies are going to price themselves right out of the market.
Thanks Joe. Some people do over complicate things Andy will be impressed. (hope the wind don't pick up) 💥👍
I would agree. Some do over complicate things. I am guilty from time to time lol. Winds should be ok in that area unless there is a tornado!💥🤘
AveRage Joe, Cool design. Let us know how much the ‘West Array’ extends your peak performance.
Brilliant
Thanks!!💥🤘
sent you an email, and happy 4th!
What happened @4:50? 😀
I turned 8 $77 dollar 100 watt panels into 4 200 watt panels. It worked great . They were new but I got free shipping . My scrap solar mount is so ugly I would not put it online.... I did buy some 2 panel single pole mount kits that I modified so you could spin them around in any direction.
Hey if it works then it works!!! A tracker mount would be cool. I built one back in 2009ish when I had a 12v system using an old satellite mount. It worked great!
The wife is gonna Love it lol, yeah like men like to much makeup.. love the diy mid and end clamps.. nothing wrong with that, even for a permanent fixture other than using screws that won’t degrade..
Thanks! Yeah those clamps are solid! Need to make some for the other rack now!!! Yeah screws will rust out for sure lol😏😆
Love it even the squirrels! 😂
🤣🤣 Thanks! That is what it sounded like when I was editing lol🤣
Looks good Joe, some of those pieces are termites holding hands hehe. But thanks for the how to video.
Lol I did end up spraying the wood juuuuust in case!😄
should have used all that wood* for a dog house cause you may need it when the wifey see's her new garden
Lol 100%🤣🤣
And I thought I was bad.
Lol🤣
I need to throw together a vid of my el cheapo mounts. I build them out of treated 2x10's and 8 3x4 foot landscape timbers and a couple 6 foot T-posts driven into the ground and screwed to them as anchors. They've been through 50 plus mph winds with no issues. About $50 per rack in lumber and $12-$14 in T-posts plus screws. For a six panel setup using 250-300 watt panels about $25 more in lumber and I add pylex helical post behind it as a brace, those are about $50ish each. Originally I used unistrut on them instead of the 2x4's, but with the ridiculous price of unistrut these days 2x4's were a lot cheaper! They should last several years.
Nice use of scrap to test out the new section. My yard deals with shading at various times of day so I have east facing, south facing and west facing arrays. If you have enough cheap panels and cheap racks it's a great way to get good output throughout the day as various areas fall under shade.
Yeah you should do a vid cause I wanna see it! I really need some east facing panels. All of my panels now wont see sun till noon🙄 I have to many trees! If I jad some facing east above my kitchen, I could maybe see sun aroumd 9:30 am. When I get more panels, thats where there going!🤘
@@AveRage_Joe I feel your pain, I have east, west and south facing arrays due to all the trees around me with the south facing ones spread out so they don't all end up in shade at the same time. My east facing arrays get sun starting around 7:30ish and are at about 80% output by 8:15 and full output by 9, 1300 to 1500 watts depending on the haze and clouds this time of year, plan to add 3 more panels to it to get it closer to 2kw. My main south facing array starts seeing sun at 9ish, and hits about 1500 watts by 10ish, with its peak around noon at 2500 to 3000 watts. The last strings are split between a couple south facing arrays and a west facing array. Those are generating a couple hundred watts by 9am and about 1kw by 10:30 with its peak around 1 to 1:30 at 2500 to 3000 watts. The east facing array falls off a bit after noon and is down to 200 to 300 watts by 2:30 to 3. The main south array starts getting shaded around 3ish and is down to 1500 watts by 4pm and 300 watts by 5pm, the last array falls off around 4:30 and is down to 1500 watts by 5:30. But by splitting things apart I get each array hitting it's peak about hour to an hour and a half apart with the fall off a couple hours apart. End up with about 3.5kw by 10am 5.5 to 6.5k by noon holding at 5 to 5.5kw till almost 5pm, and 1500 watts by 6 before everything falls to 300 watts by 7. That way even if I'm not generating enough to cover my loads late in the day it's enough to offset a lot of the drain on the batteries to further in the evening. Gets me 11 to 12 hours out of the day on solar/battery in a not super efficient house using 4 minispit ac units and the majority of my loads covered in the high heat/humidity of summer and leaves me with 2-3 hours of reserve power in the batteries if I don't shut off anything during a power outage. Easily offsets 50-60% of my power needs this time of year. More panels will help that though, I just have to mount them. Sorry for the wall of text :)
@@andycanfixit Sounds like you have a pretty good set of arrays and get a good amount of power all day. Mine is like meeeeeeh till noon then 💥💥💥FULL POWER lol. I should spread mine out a lil to get some of that morning sun😄
details on large breaker at 13:02 time mark
That is a SACE SN5 300amp shunt trip breaker. I got it off ebay a few years ago for $56 if I remember right. I had it connected to my last diy powerwall and controlled by the batrium bms.
As always great content and thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!💥🤘
