  • Too many new scythers are not aware of using the scythe in uneven landscape. A good scythe used with various techniques makes it possible to mowe in lots of places noone would dream of. In this movie I´ll show you some of the techniques.
Hope you´ll enjoy to learn from this. It´s such a fun mowing like this.
It´s my favourite way of mowing.
I´ll dedicate this movie to my friend Peter Vido. He´s a mower no more - but the times we shared by talking, writing and mowe together has been a huge and unforgetable inspiration for me into the world of scythes.
It was by this odd kind mowing he wrote the article "mower of the decade" in Scytheconnection of which I´m proud and humble. Humble because the thruth is, that actually I´ve learned the moves by studying Fairlight and Ashley Vido. They are the real masters.

Yet an other great example of an achievement attained by thinking out of the box !

A scythe is like an instrument. Why allways play the same tune. Music has no limits - neither the scythe.

Holy moley! And I thought my mole runs and tire ruts were a challenge. Props to you sir!

Lots of "fun" cuts with the scythe, really depends on the type of scythe. Landscape cutting like this - and for mole runs and tire ruts - really would be a challange using the austrian and the american type of scythe. Using the danish snath with a narrow blade is like using a kind of a mountain bike in stead of a city bike. It´s fit for the purpose.

Excellent video! Thank you for showing your technique so clearly.
Thank you also for dedicating this to Peter Vido.
In a phone conversation with him once, he told me how he could not find anyone who topped your technique, so he could find no one else to be the next "mower of the decade"!
It really is wonderful and inspiring to watch you, and gives us all a new perspective in how versatile the scythe can be.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I´ve tried so many times to write a memorial of Peter, but allways ends up in lack of words. We were soppused to meet again in Cuba, but it failed. I know he would have enjoyed this video, so nothing could be more right, than to dedicate it to him.

    Thank you for sharing it.
Your reverse stroke technic is impressive ! I’ll try next time. Hope I can master it like you one day.

Really useful. I know I can attack some big tussocks later 😉

Yes. Move with ease, not clutching the hands too hard, makes the scythe do it almost itself.

That's what I call a very uneven ground to mow on. What kind of blade is that?

      It´s the SCF - S59 (legrej.dk/vare/skandinavisk-leblad-fux/)
Really nice blade for a lot of works.

Great video, very good camera angles so we can see what you're doing. The terrain is a lot like areas that I scythe, 'though not quite as wet. Still can't get my blade as sharp as yours!
